Did you order from duregexpress.com? I ordered mine yesterday, I'm quite excited about this quick shipping if so! Was expecting to wait 2 weeks or so...

Searched Dr. Bott Digital Video Link everywhere on the net. Was looking for Dr. Bott Digital Video Link with 230V, where the power supply is similar to my country - Singapore. Found couples of website from europe selling it. Apparently having a hard time communicating using Babel fish and google translate. :(

Guys, any additional comments on Atlona Technologies DVI to Mini DisplayPort converter, the AT-DP200? After reading much
on the replies on this thread, i think it's pretty much the same with Dr. Bott Digital Video Link i guess. Since i can't get my hands on Dr. Bott Digital Video Link, i might just get Atlona AT-DP200. Thanks!

Yes, Duregexpress.de, had asked Dr Bott where to buy and they also recommended same site.

Has anyone found a way to adjust volume when in display mode using the xBox with the Dr. Bott solution? A bit annoying having to set the volume before you hit cmd F2.

The iMac 27" plays HDMI audio input through the internal speakers and it seems to be no way to route the audio to an external sound card. Any good ideas?

So... still no full HD support for PS3?
Snif... I only play Wipeout HD which is 1080p :(

On a 27" screen you can't tell the difference between 720P and 1080p, It's just too small. If your playing on a 40" screen then I can understand.

So why aren't people looking into one of these, which are made by Apogee and branded under the Kanex name:

You can adjust the volume when you're in displaymode. You can even change the brightness in displaymode.

At least I don't have any problems with that.

What I did find out is when you're playing music in iTunes and go to displaymode it mutes the iTunes music, but when you're watching a YouTube movie it does NOT mute the sound. Strange why that isn't muted... But just so you know :)

And those $20 adapters are not gonna work. If you don't believe it than buy those adapters and prove us wrong :)

I bought another HDMI cable so my xbox can stay where it was before I tested it. It seems that the quality of the cable is average but not really really great because sometimes I have to try to go to displaymode more than once! That should not happen when you buy a good quality HDMI cable. Mine was 15 euro's for 5 meter.

Sorry about that. But why should I lie? ;)

Nobody said you did but it would've been great if someone says it works and give the people some evidence. Then everybody can see and don't have to doubt anymore and order and purchase their Mac and adapters :)

Please bear with me if this is a stupid question...

Are you all using the black Xbox with the HDMI input rather than the white one without?

Jim

Hmmm, I think you mean HDMI *OUTPUT*, not input. And to answer your question, no... not necessarily. As you can see in the video posted a page or two back, his XBOX is white. All *new-ish* (I forget exactly when) Xboxes have HDMI out, not just the black elites. If you have a VERY early model white Xbox that doesn't have HDMI out and want to connect to your iMac, I believe you're SOL. =(.

Could always Ebay or CL your current Xbox and grab a new one!

Aha! I can change volume if the sound output is set to Internal Output. Just tested it :)

I use a Firewire sound box and as the iMac will not recognize the HDMI as an external input source it will always play HDMI input through the internal speakers and will not route sound to the Firewire output. If I set the iMac to use the Firewire sound box as output, sound will play throug internal speakers and the volume will not be controlled i Display mode.

A pity that I can not have the xBox sound on my stereo with my sub ;)

If any Dr. Bott converter user has a Toslink input on their stereo, I will appreciate to hear if the volume can be adjusted on that output.

However, I would believe that a USB output will perform just like the Firewire output: No volume control.

Not necessarily. A few Elgato products have a Game mode:

EyeTV manual:
"How do I turn on Game Mode?
Some EyeTV products can turn off their MPEG encoding chips, to improve console gameplay. If your product can use Game Mode, you can turn it on or off at the bottom of the Controls menu.
The Devices section of the Preferences will also let you toggle Game Mode on or off.
Game Mode will still have a very small delay - the smallest allowed by current available hardware - but most games should be quite playable."

When I bought my white Xbox in october 2008 all the new xbox consoles had HDMI output, even the arcade version.

ryanhaver, have you bothered to read any of this post before you put up these ideas above :D ? lol

hahahah....yeah. That's why I said silly me....I didn't put two and two together for a sec there. :D

Too bad EDID from Apple iMac 27" shows that the display only allows 2 resolution input support which is 2560x960 and 1280×720. By setting your HDMI source to 720p or 1280×720 resolution you will be able to output your content through our converter. PS3, Xbox 360 Elite, Blu-Ray players need to be set to 720p output.

"Belfan (HDMIDPBF) HDMI To DisplayPort Converter by Apogee Inc." and the "Dr. Bot: Digital Video Link for 27" iMac 720p HDMI" seem to be the best solutions like most everyone has allready said.

You could do that, if you like playing glorious in 4:3 480i.

Hopefully I'm not gonna make a fool out of myself like my last post....hahaha...anyway. I haven't read all the post so don't get mad if this was answered before.

So when using the Dr. Bot to output video from and external source (Bluray player) to my iMac i7 the audio is sent to the iMac's internal speakers. Can that auido signal be passed from the iMac to a surround sound reciever for further decoding thus outputted to my 5.1 Speaker Setup? Does the Dr. Bot downmix to two channels? or does it only support HDMI uncompressed 2 channel audio such as LPCM like the Belfan unit does?
