Please let there be a matte option. I abhor my 24" LED Cinema Display. It. Is. Awful.

The color gamut is dreadful as well.

Here's to hoping.

Man, I wish Apple would just offer both matte and glossy displays for all of their computers/displays. People clearly have their preferences for different reasons. I personally prefer matte, but not because of the color accuracy and whatnot that seems to be the preference of people who use Macs for professional purposes. I like the way it looks, and I like the fact that I don't have to stare at myself and the window behind me all day, something which I cannot change in my tiny bedroom. Sue me. If they offer a matte option for the refresh of the iMac lineup, I can only hope that they'll allow me to "upgrade" my stock glossy screen on my 27" iMac to the matte. That'd be awesome. It just sucks that every time they release a product, a fight has to ensue over the matte vs. glossy based on what Apple chooses to release. Just offer both and everyone wins. Simple as that.

As for the track pad that is in the works, I'll be all over it when it does come out. I'm pretty excited about it because after about 6 months or so with the Magic Mouse, I'm not really diggin' it. I've tried my best to customize it with BetterTouchTool and whatnot... it's just not really working for me.

I don't quite have an opinion on the Mac Pros because they are farrr to much computer for anything I'd ever need, so I just hope that the people who have been anxiously awaiting the refresh are satisfied with what is released.

Ugh, I'm still miffed about the constant matte/glossy arguments. That's been my single greatest disappointment with my first Mac: the 27" iMac's glossy screen. It's a $2,000+ computer/$1,000+ display, just give us the option, sheesh.

After "get an ipod deal" ends.

New Mac Pro's and iMacs will only be released after the "Buy a mac get an ipod touch" deal ends. That's how apple rolls.

16:9 = entertainemtn - 16:10 means real computer work

I like my 17" I7 Intel MacBook Pro with a matte screen. It does a nice job with its LED back lighting. I was waiting for Apple to replace their 30" display, of which I have one.

The 24" display looked good on the surface, that is minus the glossy screen. The 27" iMac was a step backwards for the Mac Professional User. Most professional users need a little more screen height, not 10% less. The talk & rumors all went to the probability of the 30" Apple display replacement to be a glossy 27" 16:9 screen.

The above made me purchase a HP LP3065 30" LCD display. I liked it so much better than my current 5 year old 30" Apple display. This display has 3 DL DVI inputs on it so connecting to a Mac laptop or other computer will be easier than with the Apple display. Then after my new 17" Intel MacBook Pro purchase I wanted a new 30" display that would connect without an adapter to both my Intel MacBook Pro & my Intel Mac Pro. The answer for me is the new HP ZR30w 30" display. My new, now my 3rd 30", display has both a DisplayPort & a DL DVI Port on it. This means that all I need is a low priced cable with DisplayPort on one end & Mini DisplayPort on the other end rather than a $100+ adapter for my Mac laptop. The problem will come when I purchase a new Intel Mac Pro that only has Mini DisplayPort on it.

These rumors helped me in these decisions. My 2 HP 30" added up to just a little more than my one Apple 30" display. Th=ry one you'll like it. There's a lot of other 3rd parties out there that make as good as or better products than Apple does.

1080p or 2560 X 1600

Apple displays cost sooooooooooo much, you might as well buy a brand new HDTV with LED edge-backlit...

I already got my 1080p HD LED backlit widescreen ready for the new Mac Pros. :D

I use 5 displays with my Intel Mac Pro. 1 28" ViewSonic 1920 X 100 display, 3 30" 2560 X 1600 displays-2 are HP 1 is Apple, & a 47" Westinghouse 1920*1080 display (this is not a TV as no tuner came with it.

The 47" may give me a larger picture than the rest, but it is lower in resolution than all of the rest. Even my Intel MacBook Pro has a 1920 X 1200 screen. A larger 1080p screen can do certain things that other screens can do, that is why I have one, but unless you have other displays to do most of your computer work you may go wanting. The 47" display is for my customer 's data display. They need a large picture that doesn't have to be as high of resolution.

Bringing in Mac Pro and iMac updates would only benefit Apple in this promotion. A surge in Mac sales and deplete the old ipod stock.
An update to the ipod lineup in Sept. after the promotion ends. With a surge in the ipod lineup into the holiday season and a possible update to the Macbook lineup in Oct.
A few little magical and revolutionary remarks and another great year!
That's how :apple: rolls.

Hasn't stopped them in the past. They've released new iMacs in August two years ago with the promotion still going (I bought one and got an iPod nano). They also released new iPods with the promotion still in effect (although the promotion wasn't good for the new iPod touch hardware).

Good post. I use my Dell 3008 (with DisplayPort ) with a last year MacMini at 2560x1600. I don't want lower resolution or 16:9, even if my display doubles as tv in the living room. But a lot of screens these days are 16:9...

When Apple released the 30" ACD it was a state-of-the-art screen, with very few other consumer screens of that size (let alone quality). It would be nice to see them do it again with something larger than 30" and larger than 2560x1600. But I don't see it happening (nor me having the money for one...)

I've had the 30" ACD for nearly 4 years now. I still love it, but I'd like something a bit bigger, with more pixels, not SMALLER, with FEWER pixels!

Grr, my iMac 27" is just a month old... Oh well, here's hoping the new TFT display is matte so I can plug it in and have a more useful display.
