The Nano was just as promised beforehand and the Touch is sexy but no GPS. I'm drooling over the built-in speaker though. Not to mention the Touch's insane battery life...

iPhone and Touch are making up Apple's portable game machine market. (LOL Pippen) I wonder what Nintendo is thinking.

Can anybody confirm or deny the existence of the VPN software on the iPod touch?

I've got a 3G iphone, but i want to make sure the VPN software comes on the touch before i buy one for somebody.

I'm confused about one thing - does the new ipod touch have the built in voice recording that the new nano has? I'm guessing no since there was no mention of it during the press conference, but it doesn't really make sense.

That's marketing-think for you. According to those folks, if it's thinner at its thinnest point they get to make that claim. I think they did something similar with the Macbook Air, comparing it to other notebooks.

I agree it's all about marketing and how they twist the reality of it.

Regarding the MacBook Air.. it truly is one thin laptop even disregarding the thin tapered edges.. it's still the, if not one of the thinnest laptops in existance with a near-desktop full speed CPU. But that's for another discussion

Well considering that nintendo has sold almost 78M DSs to date they probably aren't thinking too much about the Touch. My guess it that they are looking at the touch and thinking they already did that a long time ago and are looking at the next revolutionary thing they can do.

Am i the only one that wanted bluetooth so i could use it with my Sony Ericsson W890i SMALL 3g phone's connection ?

I dont need a big device like the iphone all the time and switching sim cards between phones for nights out at the pub isnt exactly practical.

Me too. If it had been 64GB I would have definitely ordered one today. I don't care about the 'genius' or the built in speaker at all. And the price cut isn't that great. And it costs more in the UK than in the US. *sigh*

I'm replacing an almost always nearly-full 60GB 5G iPod, so 32GB just doesn't cut it for me, especially when I'll need room for apps on top of music and video.

So I'm going to wait too. Very disappointed.

Looks like I wasn't far off on the capacities and the prices.

I would expect 64 GB to come in H1 2009 and to augment the current iPod touch lineup. So it seems like the iPod touch is more front and center in the iPod lineup, further augmented by the iPod classic going down from two models to one.

The Nike plus is a great feature...makes the ipod touch more tempting...before the update I was thinking:

"Wait, you want to give me less space, for more money than my classic? WTF?"

But now all I have to say is "Why is this not an iphone?" The two are so similar. Contacts? really? on a music player? Argggg!

wellll i would think apple would update right away and it will take other retailers longer then an hour after it's announced to update their page.
