And what makes you say that?

Most of the things they do are, dude.....Sorry, but Apple is the leaders of innovation. I have owned all kinds of phones and I have never had my hands on a better device, EVER! I even said this when I had Sprint with just a Touch.

All great new updates. I'm really surprised though that no one has mentioned voice dialing ...... a simple thing that is on pretty much every other phone and not here. Such an advancement and we still have to fumble around with a series of steps to make a call in our cars. I don't understand that one.

(Also it will be interesting to see if they improve battery life like they did on previous upgrades.)

I was reading the live blog from giz, and I recall seeing a mention of this, but they said that certain apps would be able to send things to each other. I hope someone will come in and correct me, as this is not real bluetooth, IMO. I still can't send my business card to another phone, or even an iPhone, unless we both launch the same app...
I'm pretty sure you can send a buisness card through email now...

Anyway I have to say the upgrade is quite fulfilling. Yes it took a while to get a lot of features that are already on other phones, but apple probably (don't look at what happened to 2.0) wants to perfect these features and not have a 2.0 fiasco. The c/p is probably perfect (I don't know how you could screw that up) and the spotlight and new springboard probably make the device just all that much better when using.

So to sum that up, yes they finely got features that other phones have, but the features are probably perfected, and have no bugs (hopefully)

I say overall the upgrade is satisfactory, one reason in being that theres no word of putting backgrounds on your home screen, and another being that the update is on my device right now. It's smart thinking to announce it, but they should have announced the 3rd gen iphone with it. This would make me wait for the new iphone, right now even though there'll be an update to iphone 3g, I'm still thinking "what about other smart phones" If a 3rd gen iphone came out with something like quad core (although I fine that unlikely personally) then I would definately wait for this upgrade and the 3rd gen iphone.

After all of that, I say that I'm going to have to pat apple on the back for this one, they did much more than I thought they would, but still they could have done more.

Anyone else find 3.0 completely mind blowing? There are probably HUNDREDS of new features there. EVERY SINGLE DAMN THING we asked for, IS there. WOW. What do you guys think?

I agree. Everything I wanted the iPhone to be and more is in 3.0, besides like a video camera, but I'm def. not complaining!

I was hoping for some improvements with the way it handles Exchange.

They say it's the #1 phone for business, yet I can't invite people to meetings or book resources nor can I look at other people's calendars.

I'm satisfied with the update, but hope that some more is done in terms of exchange.

You boys better give Palm thanks for forcing Apple to do this update.

That sir is the funniest thing I have read all day.

Thank you!

On topic:

Oh and didn't everyone just love how a 1/3 of the way through people were already claiming this to be a "boring" update..

More comedy right there.

well is mind-blowing as owner of the device, who bought iphone with the hope of using notifications at least in september'08.
is awfull because is NOT NOW NOT FOR DOWNLOAD. AND CAN CHANGE.
is NOT STATE OF ART anymore.

Not "Mind Blowing" as all of these things should have been with the phone in the first place. I did say satisfied, though, because I do appreciate the announcements and I was surprised with what we got.

Still no video?

I would trade in any of these features just to be able to record video. That's the one thing from my old phone I actually miss...

I think video will be a selling point for the new iphone being introduced in the summer.

I guess this means there's not going to be a major hardware upgrade... since there's no background apps still! I'm stoked!

That logic doesn't make any sense. When there is an update (there will be one) it will continue Apple's evolution of the iphone, nothing mind boggling, you can't have a revolution every time.

wait, you expect a device made in september of 08 to continue to be the latest and greatest?

Things get old and new models are made, thats technology. And why were you expecting a download now from an event that was clearely labeled iPhone OS 3.0 PREVIEW!?

What I mean is... where's the incentive to add more RAM if there's no background processing? I could see maybe higher capacity battery, but it's going to pretty much stay the same... they can do a lot with software alone.

Satisfactory. All this should have been in already.
Nothing groundbreaking. Meh.

Anyone think AT&T is going to try to find a way to charge more now that the iphone will be MMS capable?

Lets hope apple releases a new iphone os at least once a year like they have been doing.

There is always incentive to up capacities, its a selling point, and it also allows more advanced apps to run. Backround processing isnt the only reason to add memory.

Of course its going to stay relatively the same, the iphone evolves, it doesnt revolutionize every time.

It's not mind blowing, lol relax. but most features were needed to be addressed i'm kind of disappointed, i was expecting more.
Though i still hope they will release new iPhone in June with HD screen 480x800

how the hell can someone be disappointed by this?

please give me reasons...i'd love to hear.

Well Apple tried to do away with the floppy (MMS) by including the CD drive (email). However many people are still on the floppy mode so Apple is adding the floppy mode for the slower people.
mms will continue to be useful until all phones have email. most phones do not have email, and most people do not have data plans. mms does not require a data plan email does. as long as there is SMS there will be mms.

I think people are mainly saying that these should have been on the phone originally, therefore it's not mindblowing. I'm definitely pleased to finally have these features, might not have to be jailbroken anymore.
