Am I the only one that finds the posting of links to ones own website/blog such a lame thing to do ?

Extremely, that's why I rarely do it unless I think I have something cool to say, but at least I don't pretend like it's not my own website.

I think it's really bad when it's irrelevant spam from someone that's only purpose is to spam, not someone that has been a member for over a year and has posted maybe 3 links to their site.

Anyone else find this ironic? :p

messages app is crashing on launch and passcode request keeps coming up...

right! time to restore, see if that fixes it! x

That should fix it. Beta 1 made my iPod crash on open, did a restore from backup and that cleared it up. Thought I was going to have to do it as a new phone, but the backup worked.

not a single mention of wifi performance...has this been addressed for anyone that had issues with it prior to beta 2? and how about battery life? any difference?

I just updated to the beta 2 and so far my wifi has been outstanding!!! I am now getting wifi in places I never have been before (parts of my house) :) anyone else have the same luck?

Yeah... I'm getting wifi where there is no wifi around! I'm standing in the middle of a field right now and I'm getting wifi. They definitely fixed the wifi issue.

Anyone think the yellow somewhat resolved... mine seems a lot less yellow.

Just updated my 3G to 3.1b2... and the screen is about as yellow as the 3Gs' now. Joy.

One person says less yellow, another says more. Granted they are 2 different phones. I am wondering if Apple is making all the 3G's look like the 3GS to keep the "yellow/warmer" issue at bay. Would suck. I really wish they would fix the issue already. Also the contrast as well. Everything looks good outside. Inside everything looks dull and washed out.

BTW - what is with all the damn tethering whiners? Where are you going that you actually really need to tether, let alone set it up long enough for you to do anything before you have to move, go or whatever?

 I did now, although it still doesn't zoom on the camera, which what I thought the pp was referring to.

Oh no no, unfortunately there is no Apple-native way to zoom on the camera, although with a 3.2MP camera even a slight zoom would be nice. The Accessibility gives the functionality to the actual phone (i.e. zoom in on actual screens that are hard to read, or make the text white on black). It's great for those with disabilities, but for the most part, they won't get any use from the majority of iPhone users in my opinion.

M-cell

I just updated to beta 2, and now, between the "AT&T" logo and the Wifi bars, i have an "M-CELL" logo, anyone else? screenshot attached

I assume this has something to do with the upcoming Micro Cell, to boost ATT reception via wifi? but its not out yet.... Anyone?

Thanks!

why not read the whole thread before posting something that has been mention at least a half a dozen times

Relax, life is good. There are 10 pages (soon to be 11) of info here. Not everyone has time to read the entire thing.

A few people have mentioned that they are now on the Microcell even though they're not part of the testing. As long as you still get your normal data and such, all is well :)

Pezcore. Please refrain with your comments. I had gone through the whole post to figure out if the usage of M-Cell has now changed to Wifi, similar to UMA of T-mobile that works on Wifi. The question of M-Cell was genuine.

If its indeed a M-Cell then for a fee like $10 or something you can enable unlimited calls over Wifi.

Wait, is this another ploy to have one pay to use their own bandwidth? That's funny, I can already make an unlimited amount of calls via WiFi for free.

this would be great and i cant wait for it b/c my home reception sucks... Im wondering why i have this icon and some others dont? sorry if this was addressed earlier in the thread but i couldn't find it, im in Los Angeles.... thanks!

how stable is beta 2? is it better then 3.0 and ready for day to day use ?
how is the battery on the 3GS is it preforming better then 3.0?

Okay I'm a little frustrated that from 3.0 final on a 3G, right across to 3.1b2 on a 3GS I'm STILL plagued with weird bugs and icons disappearing.

I tell you what, I paid through the nose for this experience - as if paying O2's blood money of £440.40 wasn't bad enough for a PAYG iPhone 3GS, I have to endure the icons disappearing, SMS.app crashing, YouTube icon overlaying itself onto the Spotlight bar when it feels like it, "No Service" appearing randomly, audio loop staying OPEN after I have issued voice commands, so that I am nearly deafened, my songs stuttering when I open/use/close camera app... need I go on?. I know it will get fixed EVENTUALLY, but why must we wait til then?.

I can handle the odd bug, but considering you can get a Mac mini for just £60 more than this luxury device, and a LOT more functionality, I'm afraid that I've learned my lesson with overspending on a non-essential device; back it goes to Apple store ASAP, where I have been promised a hassle free refund (I know they're amazing with service, which is why I'm not worried).

I realise Betas are buggy, but these issues have persisted across 3.0, 3.1b1 *AND* 3.1b2, and I just have had enough to be honest. Out of interest, has anyone else had the icons space out excessively in 3.1b2, as seen in one of my screenshots?. Oddd! :p

I do not have that problem on mine. Have you submitted it as a bug?

I submitted a bug on the last build (unrelated issue) and it was fixed with the latest beta (I even got a personal email thanking me and asking me to verify it was fixed).

Maybe I shall do that :) thanks
