It's very, very likely that they broke tethering. For instance, in b1 the camera icon showed up for MMS. In b2, it's gone (again).
The camera icon showed up fine and mms worked for me in b2. Who is your carrier? Mine is At&T

Off-topic: I still think push notifications are broken though. If you have multiple push apps or any IM push app enabled, you end up getting so many messages that it becomes annoying! Without anything like priorities set for push notifications, my phone is buzzing all the time from the slightest thing. I'm really hoping they don't wait until iPhone OS 4.0 to fix it, because it can't wait a year.

I have done many full restores. The .ipcc method and mobile config method for enabling tethering seem to be dead.![]()

hahah my thoughts exactly.
the only reason i dont like to use my iphone as an ipod is for this very reason.
I hate having to take out the phone, press the home button twice, then press next track on the screen. and all of this has to be done while looking at the phone since there is no physical button
Just updated my 3G to 3.1b2... and the screen is about as yellow as the 3Gs' now. Joy.
So you assume your code was flawless under 3 and the compiler changes for 3.1 are at fault? What does a dtrace tell you?
I'm not sure what people expected out of push notifications. It is being pedaled as a broad solution but really only has a hope of being useful in very narrow cases. It isn't that push is broken, it is servicing all those apps you have it set up for, it is just that multiple apps mean multiple messages. For most people I can't see push notifications as being all that useful if you have a large number of apps registered to use it.
What it comes down to is that push notifications are an extremely limited solution to make up for the lack of multitasking. So much so that I really think that Apple eventually will have to implement multitasking.

Updated to the 3.1 b2, never jailbroken or messed with that sketchy AT&T 5.0 carrier file.
I tested this after I installed 3.1b2 and can say without any hacks it finally works.
Just to make sure I am adding my brothers iPhone and he is in San Fransisco so Ill update when he is done, here are some screen shots
wtf? you're shaving your legs? great use of mms. lol.
How are the push notifications any different that what has been available on the Blackberry for years? Nobody complains about those. On the blackberry, you get a star over the icon when an email, text, IM, etc comes in to the device. You can set up your iPhone to work the exact same way.
no no i was sitting on the floor watching my wife give my son a bath
Anyone else confirm their MMS is working? it will hang at the 95% but will push through after 5 seconds
I'm on a 16gb 3g
1) What are you printing from your iPhone exactly? I am curious. Didn't HP showcase a wireless printing app? Most likely this is not going to be added to the OS. Doubt 90% of iPhone users will print anything. Less stuff to the OS, the better. We still have a very limited device with low memory.
2) (AV out) That would be nice, I thought that was already working before? Did they stop that or take it out in 3.0?
3) I don't think Apple will enable keyboard bluetooth. Very small market for it.
4) Maybe when they release iDisk App, it can be used to send files over email. I doubt Apple will add a user file system to the iPhone, it's a smartphone not a laptop.
Tried it on a 8GB 3G but to no avail. Still hangs then the red exclamation shows up. Did you restore as a new iPhone or from backup?
