3.1 will probably be released when AT&T is ready to enable MMS. Question is, how long will be this? I guess we'll keep seeing 3.1 Betas until MMS is ready. I hope it isn't 4 or 5 Betas. Damn you, AT&T. I needed to send a picture to a friend the other day...the MMS way.

As I said in another thread, that will be around early-mid September or so. That will be when both MMS and 3.1 will be released. It will be around the time or coincide with the release of the new ipod touches.

AT&T's network is a huge jumble of MNCs obtained through mergers and acquisitions. It wouldn't surprise me that they are reusing one of the older existing MNCs for the Microcells of which there may be some base stations still using (such as the one you are using). If they chose a MNC that is in the EPLMN on the SIM already then they wouldn't have to reissue new SIM cards to Microcell users.

what the hell are you talking about. you not talking right, english please :D

Has anyone been able to reenable tethering by just visiting the benm site and reinstalling the appropriate mobileconfig profile?

I'm not talking about people who used went the IPCC route initially.

Hopefully GPS and WiFi will be repaired. Both were killed by the 3.0 update on my 3G. Others on the Apple boards have experienced one or both issues, and restoring doesn't help. (GPS is usually very slow and miles off-target. WiFi works for a while after the 3.0 update, and then reception dies to nothing after several days.) Of course, not everyone has these issues--so hopefully Apple isn't overlooking them.

If you have GPS or WiFi issues--or anything else for that matter--do what I did, and let Apple know :)

Compilations in iPod

In the iPod app in Beta 1, any artist that was part of a compilation showed up in the Artist view, but selecting that artist displayed a message saying there was no music. You had to actually go to the Compilations view to get to the music.

This is now "fixed" in Beta 2. You can select an artist who was part of a compilation and still get to that artist's music.

Unfortunately, this is not actually what a lot of people want. Many people would prefer that an artist who only has music in a compilation not appear in the Artist view at all. I thought the behavior found in Beta 1 was a hint that Apple was finally implementing this, but apparently I was wrong. Doesn't really matter that much to me, but I think a lot of people will remain upset that it doesn't work this way. I think Apple should at least provide the option since they provide the option in the iTunes.

The site doesn't work for me for enabling tethering and neither does using an IPCC file. :(

Looks like Apple disabled tethering in 3.1 beta 2

I have a 3GS and my tethering still works and i never enable it
it just was there when i put the 3.1 beta 1 on

I thought MMS was already "released", just not by at&t in the US. Didn't think they need an OS update to enable it, it's just has to be enabled by at&t. Don't quote me on that, though. Can anyone not in the US confirm?

They dont but it has apparently been pushed back to September but ATT denies it, which is as good as confirming that its been pushed back.

Help!

Tried installing on my iPod touch 2G. It's on a pink screen with connect to iTunes on it, but in iTunes it says "The iPod software update server could not be contacted. The server does not support this version of iTunes." I cannot even get to the restore screen in iTunes.

Edit: Problem fixed, had to do a force restart, but hold on to the home button and let go of the lock button after 3 seconds. Thanks to forum user toxicbomber for their help.

And you have always have had tethering enabled? Even with a full restore?
