In the post I responded to, unless I missed a different comment, , it was said that all of their movies should be vaporized. While I respect personal opinion in such matters, I disagreed as I disagree with you about Hanks, but it's just a difference of opinion. Green Mile is supurb, Saving Private Ryan is an excellent realistic portrayal of war, at least it seemed that way to me, someone who never experienced war as infantry.

That said, I know what you are talking about. I have got the sensation your are referencing in some actors like Robert Redford, Sean Penn, Meryl Streep, and Tom Cruise, who seem to express look at me, I'm playing this character! ;)
I agree about redford, he's just just horrible. Penn, Cruise and Streep are some of the best actors ever imo.

I'm not saying they are bad actors, they are gifted, but it's as if their ego becomes inflated, overshadowing the characters they are playing, which takes away from their performance.

"Hey Rick, it's your cousin Marvin. Marvin Astley? You know that mediocre generic sound you been looking for? Well, listen to this!"

Back in 1999, I used to go to Puente Hills Mall alot. I lived in Walnut and Diamond Bar from 1999-2003 and worked in Rowland Heights until 2004, so the 909/626 areas was quite familiar to me. What I didn’t know until my cousin told me was Puente Hills Mall is where Twin Pines Mall was filmed at. I would drive around that big parking lot at least 100x and didn’t know until I moved to the OC that it is where Marty first sees the Delorean and travels back to 1955. I took my best friend from Colorado to that mall and Griffith Park Tunnel and he would play the BTTF theme song in my car while taking selfies and recording videos of himself.

The Cubs winning the World Series in 2015 would be the greatest prediction BTTF2 ever did followed by a Miami MLB team although that seemed imminent. Flying cars and video calls, we already saw that with the Jetsons. The Cubs winning it is like 1 out of 30 teams that Gale had to pick from and 81 years had elapsed between the Cubs' last penant and BTTF2's release. I don't care if they got alot wrong. Shows we couldn't keep up. And I don't care if the Cubbies don't exactly sweep and are not 100-1 shot. Just to see the Cubs win it after 107 years but was predicted 26 years prior is definitely a "heavy" prediction.

I always wondered if Eric Stoltz would have made a better Marty McFly? Nah. Michael J. Fox was the original and perfect choice. The light humor just wouldn't be there with Eric. I did like his Lance in Pulp Fiction though. Some movies have good replay like Tarantino films but there is a limit to them. Maybe 5-10x, tops. Some movies need a certain mood from me to watch them like SW OT, The Godfather, MCU, and TLotR. BTTF 1 & 2 have infinite replay value to me. Lovable characters. Great humor. Unique. Most popular time travel films. Anytime, anywhere, any type of mood. I probably will watch them on Oct 21/26 and Nov 5/12.

Back To The Future series is NOT the GREATEST trilogy ever, but they sure are some of the most beloved, rewatched, and enjoyable. There are many "better" movies I've seen. But it doesn't mean I have to love them more. Heck, BTTF1's major plothole is wouldn't Marty get erased from existence at the same time as his siblings being the youngest? Even with flaws, BTTF 1 & 2 still stand tall over those technically better films. A difference knowing what is better vs favorites. Something better is an opinion formulated in your mind. Something you enjoy more even living with their flaws is a feeling that comes from your heart.

My Top 5 All-Time Favorite Films
1. The Shawshank Redemption (1994)
2. Casino (1995)
3. Goodfellas (1990)
4. Back To The Future Part II (1989)
5. Back To The Future (1985)

^ And yet, I probably have seen #4 & #5 more than my Top 3 combined and loved them the longest at 25 years and still counting. I wanted to learn into how to skateboard and became a sneaker hound thanks to them.

My Top 5 All-Time Favorite Film Series
1. Back To The Future (1985-1990)
2. Indiana Jones (1981-2008)
3. Star Wars (1977-Present)
4. The Godfather (1972-1990)
5. Marvel Cinematic Universe (2008-Present)
^ The 80's child still in me is a slave to Lucas, Spielberg, and Zemeckis at most films they wrote, produced, or directed in that decade. Except for maybe films like Howard the Duck and E.T.

I thought Thomas Wilson (Biff) was excellent in that series playing both a bully and an Old West outlaw. He's still working as an actor (and producer?), but that series was his hay day.

Well, the Cubs are one game away from elimination with no Steve Bartman to blame this time. I saw that animated CollegeHumor video and it is pretty humorous. Shows how crappy 2015 is right now. Marty might as well go back to 1985 and savor everyday that were the 1980's. Actual 2015 is not as funny as Marty banging his mom though. CollegeHumor went to that area where Futurama didn't want to go and used Fry's grandma instead. Being your own dad or grandpa. Whoa.

Will watch BTTF2 later but maybe not after 4:24pm as I would prefer since I will watch The Last Witch Hunter which interferes with the time. It's ok. I will do it CALIFORNIA TIME instead which translates to 7:24am, Oct 22 local time here. I don't believe any future movies including Star Wars 7-9 will ever surpass BTTF 1 & 2 for me among Top 5 favorites. It can be quite childish at times but the smile/chuckle per 30 minutes with BTTF and Indy is much higher for me than other franchises. With any SW, I might smile/chuckle nomore than twice.

I named my 3 year old son after Marty McFly so we will be sitting down later to to watch it :)

Poor Doc Brown is looking a bit older-time travel must age you. Too bad he isn't a Time Lord.

Or...?

Interesting that he was in his late 40s when BTTF was released, but he struck me as older than that, probably due to the long white locks, I assume was a wig. But who knows? ;) Looking at his credits at IMDB, he seems to be busy professionally. (Sorry about the big picture I was on my iPad when I posted this.)

They had Michael J Fox, Christopher Lloyd, and Lea Thompson on the Today show this morning.

I've been playing "The Power of Love" regularly in my office today, although no one has commented on it yet.

My sister texted me a little while ago to wish me happy BTTF day-I told her it was time to introduce the the boys(9 and 5) to BTTF this evening :)

I just wish that I had time to go see it in a theater today.

I am anxiously awaiting 4:29pm Pacific Time.
for us folks in the Central Time Zone the time will be 6:29

I like the new Sprint commercial where the guy invents a time machine... after the commercial runs a bit, the time machine dings and he takes out leftovers from tomorrow nights supper lol

I have my VCR staged and ready to go for 7:29 PDT(of course, I think in 1985 in might have been PST on October 21st, but close enough).

BTW, I just went on a wild goose chase looking for USA today. I burned up about 4 miles of shoe leather(summoning my best Pat Buttram voice "If everybody's got one of these auto-whatits doesn't anybody walk or run any more?") and came up empty. Then, after remembering the plotline and searching, I realized that I need to go looking tomorrow.

The only things I don't like with Back To The Future esp in 1 & 3 is how easy the women are in it. Lorraine Baines is a bit floozy. She falls in love after a peeping Tom (George) falls from a tree or her own son in Calvin Klein underwear that was probably removed by her. Then she actually asked out Marty to take her to the dance, threw herself at him inside the car, and asked a kiss from George while they danced. But all is forgiven when you see Lea Thompson naked in All The Right Moves (1983)! Celebrity Movie Archive is your bff, all you George McFlys! Short Tom Cruise got luckier than short Michael J. Fox! She's petite but I like it that way in all her right areas!

Then Doc & Clara falling in love in a matter of a few days. I don't believe in quick romances like that. Not the Jack & Rose/Titanic-way. Felt so forced in to end the film series quicker. The only couple I liked in BTTF3 was seeing Michael J. Fox and Lea Thompson finally together. They make a cuter couple than watching Lea with that real-life weirdo, Crispin Glover.

After further reflection, I probably will rank Back To The Future Part II as my #1 favorite movie of all-time followed by the og BTTF. No other movies I have seen more than both along with Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure. They are hardly perfect movies and have their plotholes but I am still cool with it. Nothing is perfect. There is positive messages in all of them.

My new Top 5 (involving older favs)
1. Back To The Future Part II (1989)
2. Back To The Future (1985)
3. Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure (1989)
4. Maverick (1994)
5. Let It Ride (1989)

I will always love The Shawshank Redemption (1994) and probably seen it like 30 times. But its replay value is a little less now compared to that Top 5. I think Maverick (1994) which I saw before TSR is probably the one movie from the 1990's I watched the most times. It is a FAST-moving 2 hrs with funny dialogue and nice Randy Newman score. I have looped it many times even more than Kingpin (1996) which I have seen alot too. The difference between my 1-20 favorites is very incremental.

"Who you calling spook, peckerwood?"

With Casino (1995) and Goodfellas (1990), maybe the coolest to me when I was a teen and during my 20's. Casino taught me the term "sand ni**er" is for Arabs and saying the f-word a few hundred times like a Scorsese film would do. Yeah, it is like Tarantino where the film uses the n-word so freely. Maybe in your teens and 20's, it is pretty cool and funny. When you start having children or getting older, not something you would loop in front of them or yourself and deal with so much negativity and bad influences. At least Bill & Ted 1 was teaching me about historical figures like Socrates instead of despicable people from the mob.

So my Top 5 became more PG-rated and ones I probably loved the longest (circa 1990). The innocence was lost after the 80's. Back To The Future Part II got me into loving technology and sneaker. Back To The Future got me into skateboarding. Harmless interests instead of watching gangsters stealing and capping dudes in the head. And BTTF franchise is probably one of the few franchises I would buy from merchandising. I remember owning a Micro Machine Delorean bought at Universal Studios Hollywood in 1995 right after I rode on the BTTF the Ride.

BTTF 4 life!
