I look at this 3D movies) as an additional benefit for VPro but certainly not as a “selling point”, it’ll be interesting when we can actually try one at some point like 6 months from now

This would be a great way to watch the 2013 BBC Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Special "The Day of the Doctor" in real actual 3D again, the way it was shot and shown in theatres worldwide back then! Max, Disney+, BBC, get on it! 🤓 ❤️❤️➕🔶

I don't think Apple could do that even if they wanted to.
Why not. Apps can use PSVR2. They have rights to the 3D content already. It's just a different way to present a video stream. Gran Turismo shows you can have apps that work both PSVR and flat at the same time, so if that was your technical concern, it's not a problem. What's preventing them?

I wondered what the closed caption would look like. Will it be a part of the 3D experience or just a flat version that doesn't move around?
I'd imagine the captions would move and stay in front of you no matter where you're looking. At least that's how it works when watching 3D/360° YouTube videos on the Meta Quest. It can take a bit to get used to since it looks as if the text is floating in the air compared to what we're used to on a TV/monitor. (I think you can also anchor the captions to stay in one place in the 3D view as well.)

I want to believe this will be a nice experience. However, having tried it with the Oculus Quest many times, it's just not that enjoyable to have a brick strapped to your face. The spatial stuff is cool, but your face gets hot and your neck gets tired. The Vision Pro is heavier than a Quest I believe. I'm going to keep an open mind, but I'm skeptical.

This is the magic sauce that might make Vission Pro not die on delivery. The content apple can wield
While the ability to watch 3D content on the AVP is cool, I don't think it's going to be enough to convince a lot of people to come off the fence and buy one especially at $3,500. Apple will probably charge a premium for 3D movies as well.

I am hoping in the not too distant future, the AVP (and other VR headsets) will offer the ability to virtually "attend" live events like sports and concerts. That would definitely get me to buy right away. Actually thinking about it, the events wouldn't even need to be broadcast live. I would still be interested in watching pre-recorded events in 360 degree VR.

I'm dreaming of being able to watch the Super Bowl, the Masters golf tournament, U2 at the Sphere, and other similar events in 360 degree VR!

Had the same thought on sports but I want it for live and I want to be able to choose my view.

If I feel like watching the World Series game from a seat down the third base line, I could do that for example.

THAT would make me save up for one.

3D is not going to be a thing.

It was a flash in the pan fad in the 1950s.

It was a flash in the pan fad in the 1980s with IMAX.

It was a flash in the pan fad in the mid 2000s with Avatar and consumer 3D displays.

It will be a flash in the pan in the mid 2020s with the Apple Vision Pro.

3D is dumb.
I agree 3D movies aren't going to be enough to get me to buy an AVP, but 360 degree VR video content of sporting events and concerts would be.

Watching sports, for me and several other people, is a group event, not solitary.

We had six people over every night of the World Series. How does that work with an Apple headset?

Can’t wait to see a picture inside an airplane in 2-3 years with everyone wearing goggles. Flight attendants will need a stick to prod the window seat customers to get drink order.

Man, it'd be amazing if this resulted in 3D TV support on Apple TV for all 12 of us who still have 3D displays.
It's 13. Count me in. I would think it's possible that this is the case, otherwise it would be an Apple Vision Pro logo instead of 3D logo. Let's hope. I've got a six figure theater that rocks in 3D but it's a pain to go grab a disc.

lol I actually did this once on a flight back when the Gear VR released. I honestly could have cared less what everyone around me thought of me wearing them. It was neat to be able to feel like I was in my own little personal movie theater. The problem was that the airplane wasn't flying in a straight line and eventually my POV would drift in VR even though I was sitting completely straight ahead. I would constantly have to recenter it. I don't know if that issue is fixed with modern tracking headsets but is was definitely an issue with the Gear VR.

When AR glasses become more affordable and start to look more like everyday sunglasses, I suspect more and more people will own them. Someday they will replace smartphones. But that could be another 10-20 years from now.

3d movies sucked the first time (60s), they sucked the second time (2000s). They will suck with the Vision Pro.

Seriously, though, I never watch movies alone....this sounds depressingly solitary.

Films should be watched alone. Other People talking, eating, eating while talking, clapping at superhero’s and generally being annoying are the reason I go to the cinema alone most of the time on Tuesday aftenoon.
