Seriously though, I really only want two things in the next iPhone. Copy-Paste and the slightly (almost imperceptibly) rubberized backing like the KRAZR has. My iPhone is just damn slippery in comparison and the material that Motorola uses is subtle enough not to ruin the iPhone aesthetic.
Or maybe try some rubber cement on the back? ;)

No one mentioned the possibility of the OLED allowing for Apple to make the iPhone slimmer.

That would be cool.

This is all hard to believe and I will most likely just my iPhone in the next month or so when my Verizon contract expires.

I'm tired of my Motorola crap phone.

Or you can keep it the same thickness and add a thicker battery for more juice.

$149 iPhone

Of course the 3G iPhone is on it's way! That's the only way the standard iPhone gets to $149. What that happens, watch out!

Is there any benefit to OLED apart from increase in battery life and maybe allowing the iPhone to slim down a little? Not sure I see what all the excitement is about. 3G would be ok but not the biggest step forward. Video calling is frankly not all it's cracked up to be. It's been available in the UK and Europe for ages and has never really taken off. Only ever used as a bit of a gimmick for a couple of calls. It soon becomes annoying having to hold your phone out in front and you look a prat in public.:D

I am getting 3 iPhones (family plan) as soon (June) as they are available, and Bush is paying most of the Bill. Sweet.

I am ok with 16 or 32 Gig storage and GPS if ever becomes available. But the one thing I will go back to pay for (upgrade) is video iChat with a camera in the front.

The killer app for 3G is not video calls. It's data.

I think the mobile phone industry may have finally woken up to that. Don't forget until the iPhone came out flat rate data plans were rare and expensive (US and UK).

My girlfriends cell phone is falling apart. Literally falling apart. But, I am not going to extend her contact to get a new phone because I have been waiting for the 3G iPhone. Shes not very happy about the wait, but in the long run she will be happy.

If they come out with a 3G iPhone, I am going to get the 3G version and give her the EDGE version. She doesn't need the speed and she is plenty happy getting my old one.

The bad news is, if her phone dies ... I will be forced to purchase a new one and extend her contract with T-Mobile.

Hurry up 3G iPhone!!

Cmon who cares? You can exchange it in an apple store.

Anyone who travels would care ... I don't travel that much anymore so its ok. However, if I started to travel like I used to ... I would have to give up the iPhone.

Replaceable batteries are a must for business travelers.

I can't wait for 3g I will be one of the first in line at my apple store. An OLED screen would be great and it would help extend the bettery life. I hope it will come out soon.

This will really kill me now!

I had fully made my mind to buy an iPhone and this comes up.

Help people! Do I buy one now? Though 9to5 says its only gonna come up in June WWDC.

As soon as the iPhone has a user replaceable battery, I am on board.
I've had an iPhone since day one <literally> and my battery works great. If I use Safari or the iPod a lot during the day I may have to throw it on a car-charger but eh.......

A few days ago I bought a SIM card (pay as you go) in Ireland. When I opened the package I noticed that on the sim card it said O2 3G.

If the new coming iPhone could be unlocked, does anyone know if I could have access to 3G even tough the iPhone is unlocked?

Has some amazing new OLED tech come out recently? Last I heard, they haven't been able to approach LCD panel life on OLED displays.

Why wait? Buy one now and sell on when the 3G version comes out. Thats what I've done with the 8GB to 16GB models. I've had 1 since launch and upgraded instantly. It's only cost me GB£20.00 and I haven't wasted time waiting wondering if something a bit better is about to be launched 'cos sods law says it will be as soon as you take the plunge.

Even EDGE Networks for AT&T over here say 3G on the SIM card. I believe it is just advertising.

Not really. I had a flat rate one from T-mobile in the UK for about six months before the iPhone came out in the US. £7.50 for unlimited web and walk.

I almost always say "buy now" but this is one of those times I'm 'gonna recommend waiting.

Yea. Buy now only if you need an iP right NOW! Otherwise, stick it out until the end of June or early July. If my Razor breaks down before then (and it's been crashing an awful lot) I'll slip the SIM into an older phone to wait this out.

Current O2 3G coverage (dark blue is 3G, it's not that good. HSDPA coverage is dismal - check O2's site):

That said I'd like to see 3G soon, however I don't believe this report. I say November. As I say, I'm hoping I'm wrong.

Looks dismal, but in any country that has highly populous cities, a map like that probably covers 95% of the population, no?
