And for the people that say "apple doesn't show anything to anyone in the accessories market until the phone is released to the public" is just retarded. I bet everyone and their dog in the iphone accessories market has one of these things or at least a non working unit.

Yeah, I'm sure Apple's top priority is getting some tiny obscure sweat factory in China a mock up of the new phone so they can get right on a crappy case.

<snip rant>Worst of all though is the rounded back. How incredibly STUPID is that??!! I spend a huge amount of time using my iphone with it laying on flat surfaces like tables & desks. With a shape like this it would be almost impossible to use it that way. Dumb beyond all comprehension!<snip rant>
I am not sure how closely you have looked, but the back is not rounded, only the corners are, according to this image (assuming it is an accurate example of what it will be like), the majority of the back of the phone will be flat like the current model. All phones that I have known of were designed to be lain flat on tables and such, and any company would be partially insane to design one w/o a flat back/way to lay it down. The corners mostly have just been spread out as to how they bend.

this is nuts

the image has a "copyright" of april, the news about specs being given to 3rd party companies is may...

Apple is known for their design continuity. (Something which pleases me. But that's for another post.)

The back of the alleged 3G iPhone does remind me of the countered bottom of the MacBook Air. So I don't think a countered bottom for the iPhone is outside of the realm of possibility.

Also, I think there's something to the "iPhone Black" rumor awhile back. Black, White, and Product Red?

That just means that the iPhone came out in March, but it came out in June at the same time because the case was designed and on sale in April, in order to meet the January deadline.

I did. Then I read lots of speculation on a case. If they were going to show a new case, why would they not find a current image of the phone. :p

Apple releases images for use in web and print materials by resellers, partners, etc. Perhaps the current iPhone main screen image isn't officially available? I'd say that using an unapproved image that's not available from the "resources" Apple provides these partners, etc. would pose legal issues...

Of course, if you're going to post images of a 3G iPhone before release, why not go for broke?

Shrug.

No, actually if you look at the 3g one in full size http://www.xskn.com/?m=Products&sid=282&cid=1 (click on the magnifying glass to see pics), versus the current iPhone http://www.xskn.com/default.aspx?m=Products&sid=277&cid=654 , there is a lot more reflection, meaning that the iphone isn't touching the "table". Compare the pictures on the far right.

On the 3g, only the "spine" of the case touches.

PDA good news?

This could be good news for those of us waiting for an Apple PDA (iPad?). There have been rumours of a case under construction 1.5 times the size of the Touch but it was always possible that this was the case for the new phone. It now seems possible that the new phone is the same size (more or less) than the old one so the possibility of a PDA is better.

I wouldn't trust that company's renderings for even a second.

Lajo, the guy who runs the company, was banned awhile back from iLounge for continuously using the site's forums to try to drum up business with stupid promotions (ex/ Key Program). Everything he does is for publicity.

Its a small company based in a small factory in China, and I wouldn't bank that they have ANY inside info.

I'd bet that the dimensions given to legit accessory makers could just as easily be 'leaked' to other companies in much the same way as any other leak, so the argument about lajo/xskn' inside knowledge etc is a weak one, my opinion anyway.

Yeah, this looks pretty ugly and fat. I wouldn't trade my current iPhone in for it. And I'm expecting the 3G data package to be around $25 - $30 a month, which I'm not willing to pay for. So overall, I think I'll just be keeping my current one, as I'm actually completely satisfied with it and use WIFI at home and school. The only bad thing is the battery life, but I don't think 3G or GPS would fix that. I wouldn't uses video chat either, as no one else I know could use it with me. The App Store will be exciting though! Games!!!

So hopefully it's just a grab for attention - from the sounds of it he's been very successful (I read the site got knocked offline because of all the traffic). And the 'specs' that were 'leaked' some time ago - who's to say they were even legit?

If it is real, I don't like it. The size of the bezel completely kills it. So I'm hoping and praying it's all just pie in the sky conjecture!

I am not sure what everyone is paying for the iphone data plan, but if it is anything like the 3g at&t tilt it won't change with the new phone because of the fastest speed.

It certainly seems a little thicker than the current iPhone which is not great news. However, my biggest concern in the curved back... what the hell are Apple thinking if it really is curved like this. This means that you can't set it flat on a table or your car's dashboard without it rocking.

This is something that would seriously annoy me, I can live with the extra 2mm thickness (which Steve will not use as the measurement, instead will focus on the tapered edge in an illusion to make it appear thinner ala new iMacs) BUT I don't know if live with the curved back.

Also, the case seems to suggest the 3G iPhone will have a thicker border around the screen like the iPod touch, again I hope this isn't the case. I really don't like the thicker border on the touch at all.

If this is a real indication of 3G iPhone design, the specification of this is going to have to be amazing to get over the bloated form-factor.

Time will tell.

As many have already said, it is totally curved, just the edges, the majority of the back is flat....read previous posts!
Are any of you people gng on about it wobbling on a table even looking at the pictures??

The top view in the pic suggests that only the 'spine' of the case/phone is touching the table. The side view does suggest its mainly flat with more pronounced curved edges but I think this is an illusion.

Agreed.

huh? an illusion that it's flat?
The side on view clearly shows that the front and back run parallel, with curved edges.
If it has curved top and bottom edges then this is what a top/bottom view will look like.
