I think that these guys made a mistake when desiging their case. I DO believe that Apple gave case manufacturers design hints in the form of the first attached image that made the rounds on the internets a few weeks back. But if you look at the first box (upper left, showing the new slope of the back) you'll notice that the two phones have the exact same thickness in their sillouette. I think that is very unlikely to happen, and I also doubt that the phone will get any thicker. Someone posted the second image in another thread, and if you line it up with the outline of the first image you will see it is almost a perfect fit (slightly too thin, but very close). I think this is much more likely to be what we get! What do you think? :apple:

The 2nd picture looks like "ZOMFG I want it!".

Where is it from?

I did. Then I read lots of speculation on a case. If they were going to show a new case, why would they not find a current image of the phone. :p

Because they do not have the phone as of yet. Or if they do have mock ups of the phone it would be unwise for them to show it since apple hasn't even released images of it yet.

And for the people that say "apple doesn't show anything to anyone in the accessories market until the phone is released to the public" is just retarded. I bet everyone and their dog in the iphone accessories market has one of these things or at least a non working unit.

Hell a non working unit they could give to every company could be a wood carving of it for all we know.

Or at least the measurements. No need for Apple to go out and hire a bunch of people to sit around whittling iPhones.

I am wondering how far in advance Apple needs to give the dimensions of upcoming products to case/accessory companies in order to give them enough time to redesign their products. If the 3G iPhone is to be released at the WWDC, would these companies have access to these numbers already?

Rocking iphone?

Looking at the supposed 3G iphone, look at the curvature on the bottom. If it is as curved as it looks, the iphone wouldn't be able to sit flat on a hard surface, it would actually rock side to side. I think this is as fake as bad as it looks, besides who the hell copyrights with a full date?

I think his point was, why use two different current iPhone pics. Obviously they don't have the design for the actual 3g phone, but why not just shrink a current version of the iphone, instead of a older pic of the same version of iphone. Totally irrelevant either way.
This is directed towards chrisrokc comment.

I really hope the new phone looks better than that. The form factor of the first iphone is simple unique and beautiful. I keep getting the feeling though that there will be some really great surprises with the features of this phone.

Try reading the thread fully before you post.

Oh come on - some of us don't have time to go through the 140+ posts prior to asking a question. For a forum this large, there are going to be questions asked multiple times, and we shouldn't be slammed for it.

Now, on to happier thoughts. :)

I don't see anything wrong with the back of the phone being curved as a big portion on the back is flat. The MacBook Air doesn't rock back and forth.

I've never understood why people use cases for iPods/iPhone. To prevent them from scrathing? So, it's better to make a good looking device ugly by using a case than letting it get some scratches? After all people are paying extra for Apple's design and looks... and then they buy a case to cover it up?

The case can be removed, the scratches can't.

I hope this is not the new design for the iPhone. It's thicker, wider, and the screen looks smaller (or maybe the phone is just longer?). I just hope the 3G iPhone is actually nice to hold and beautiful. I'm glad I bought my 1st Gen. iPhone a month ago...

On Youtube there is a really good stress test video. It turns out that your iPhone only will get scratches if you do some heavily morbid stuff with it.

So the question remains, why buy a design object and then hide it underneath some abhorrent phone condom?

You are wrong on this. If anything accessory manufacturers are the ones who get advance notice. Apple wants you to be able to walk into a store on day #1 and buy a 3G iPhone and a 3G iPhone case. Now, that doesn't prove it's true... but it brings it into the realm of possibility.

Cases for the (then unreleased) iPod Nano were also leaked ahead of time:

Ah... I had forgotten about the nano. What was sticking in my mind was the iPhone, and the fact that after its announcement, accessory manufacturers had to scramble to have stuff ready by the time of launch, six months later.

Post of the day award please ;) One word and you couldn't even spell it properly lol. Thats well funny ;) :D

The 9th cant come around fast enough. Everyone got their countdown to WWDC widget??

Hahaha I was hoping no one picked that one up. Vultures I tell ya lol. I'm tired I guess . . . (of waiting on the iphone)!
