Are you a doctoral candidate in Quantum Physics that you're seeing that drag on your 6 ?

You don't need a doctoral degree to notice the drag. Didn't Tim mentioned "At Apple we make the best phones on the market"? Well, in my experience NOT (make that not anymore. At Apple we make the most expensive phones on the market suits better)

Yes, lets never upgrade or keep up with the times. I was happy with 1GB
You guys are funny. Read my next post after this one. Besides, the RAM limitation isn't written in stone. Check what iFixit did with the iP 4,5,6 already.

Still no proof 2GB isn't plenty.

Do people not understand on this forum that RAM is significantly limiting factor of what you can do on iOS devices?

my android phone from 2014 had 3GB RAM. in fact, that was one of the reasons I switched away, because I was so fed up with everything on my 5S reloading constantly due to the criminally low amount of RAM in a premium device. What was even more insulting was the 6 release and the tired refrain of "oh, you dont actually need more ram..." and I was just incredulous. Cook is a con man.

same story as always these days. Apple using the lessons they learned from trying to squeeze out performance in underpowered hardware in order to compete from years past of the PPC days, is now used to sell you a finely-tuned "experience" on underpowered hardware barely able to keep up past a basic workload to pad profit margins. Now they're making usability a "premium" feature. so glad i ditched the iphone ecosystem. still love my ipad though.

no. no they really, really don't. and their hubris prevents them from even being open to the experience of trying something different, and realizing how far down that path of lies they've been led.

Some people here think that because the OS compresses memory that this allows Apple to magically turn 1GB into 2GB of RAM. I had to type this reply twice. I had to switch apps and that caused Safari to reload.*

*Good joke right? I've had this happen many times before.

ok, everybody on here that keeps harping on "IT DOESNT NEED MORE RAM!" answer me this:

what harm would it do to have said extra RAM?

like, for real. Tim comes up and says "we decided to bump up the ram across the line" what would you do?

are you going to go harp on having extra memory you dont use or need?
are you going to sell your stock because the profit margin isnt high enough?
are you going to get upset when your phone lasts one more OS update because it has enough RAM to run the new stuff (the single most common reason why old iPhones get left behind on updates)
are you going to get upset when you're not paying attention and end up with 15 tabs open and your phone doesnt reload every tab every time you switch between them?

I know some people will say "it should have four" or something. but i seriously want to know: why SHOULDNT it have more ram? give me legit reasons. stuff like "apple designs the experience to work around the hardware and software" are not legit excuses, they are PR buzzlines you're repeating like a good little consumer.

Wouldn't buy that either. Whats your point?

I do understand the concept of as much of RAM as possible – on PCs and Macs. Not on current iOS devices though.

my bad i missed your /sarcasm tag :)

Wouldn't hurt to have more, but doesn't bother me if it doesn't
I don't care what the RAM is as long as my experience isn't impacted
For me, for ME, it hasn't been, so I'm not concerned

Macrumors is the land of trolls my friend. Its a meaningless (yet sometimes entertaining) debate

I think you're mistaken the so called "trolls" as very disappointed Apple fans. Only Apple can change them to real fans right now. They only don't seem to care
In that case, im a troll! I'd have to agree with you on this one.

KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has twice claimed the next 5.5-inch iPhone, tentatively referred to as the iPhone 7 Plus, will carry 3GB of RAM for improved performance, and now DigiTimes says the same in a new report. The report stops short of specifying whether the 4.7-inch, 5.5-inch, or both iPhone 7 models will have 3GB of RAM, but in general it will mark an increase over the 2GB of RAM in the iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, and iPhone SE.

DigiTimes has a mixed track record at reporting on Apple's upcoming product plans, but its supply chain sources have provided accurate information on occasion in the past, and the rumor is backed by the more credible Kuo. The increased RAM should prove valuable given the camera improvements expected with the new iPhones, including a dual-lens system on the 5.5-inch model.

Deutsche Bank has also thrown its weight behind the 3GB of RAM rumor, although its prediction is likely based on Kuo rather than independent sources.

They desperately need a selling point or two to hold the line until iPhone 8. 3G ram helps. Apple doesn't want to sleep walk into being the next Nokia. You can't depend on new apps if phone sales fall

While it should have been exciting innovations

iPhones do have their fair share of innovations. Retina displays, Touch ID, dual-tone flash, etc. While some of these might not be major, Apple tries to innovate on software experience, which I'm personally ok with.

What pisses me off though is that they are purposely going low on RAM specs. iPhone 6 and 6 Plus being released with 1GB of RAM was a joke. iOS 9's performance is terrible compared to how smooth iOS 8 ran.

iPhone 7 will most likely be released with the same 2GB of RAM, so it'll be good for about a year until iOS 11 comes out. On the other hand, iPhone 6S will more than likely run fine because it already has 2GB of RAM.

The S line is the smarter choice imo, if you can live with the previous year's design of course.

Less RAM is Apple's way of forcing people to upgrade to newer phones.

Whether fact or fiction, sadly Apple has left this impression on many.
The last 10 years has brought so much wealth to Apple and it's shareholders.
It would be nice to give a little back to the 'rest of us'
Gone are the days of humility and being humble.
Instead, we should be so privileged to own an Apple product.

How is your experience not impacted? Have you owned an iPhone 6 Plus and upgraded from iOS 8?

The software on my 6 plus has been screaming for more RAM.

Considering no app can allocate that much RAM I find that hard to believe.

People were clueless and happy with the current generation phones until they were torn down.

You don't need to open the hood to tell a Porsche is fast but a small group of people just need to know put a number on the power it makes in order to feel better about their shortcomings elsewhere.

To add insult to injury, once you upgrade iOS you cannot rollback to the OS your phone came with.

That's a deal breaker for me, given the artificial hardware minimums Apple imposes on their devices.

Make no mistake, the want you to come back. Dope dealin' 101, pal.
