iPhone 4 running 4.3.1. Never jailbroken before. Thinking of trying first time. So I just download redsnow and run it, it will take care of everything? What is this signal problem I'm hearing about? Will this JB cause problem with signals and cellular service? As much as I want to JB but I don't want to lose phone it's prime facility of being a phone.

Like every other discussion forum on the Internet, more people are going to post when they have problems and not when everything works as designed.

The worst case is that you restore from the back up you took before you started the jb process.

I just did the 4.3.1 jb and all went well except. . the phone doesn't work. . .there is no ATT logo and only 1 bar in the upper right hand corner. when I try to call it immediately says call failed.

I did not unlock, just JB.

Any ideas?

Now it just says "no service"

There is a known incompatibility between 4.3.1 and older basebands. It is possible that your host file was pointing to cydia and when you updated you preserved the previous baseband. Did you have a recovery error and have to kick it out of recovery.

Check your baseband and if it is not the standard baseband that comes with 4.3.1 then you need to restore again through itunes but change your host file to point to apple instead. You can do this through Tiny umbrella by unchecking the "Point host file to cydia on exit" check box under advance mode.
and then close tiny umbrella.

Oh, MyWi, how I've missed you since I got a WiFi-only iPad!! I'll never upgrade the OS unless there's a jailbreak again!

There is a known bug in the software update that causes problems with older basebands (obviously, older basebands were never intended to be used with 4.3.1).

However, you should get service even though the signal strength bars are stuck at 1 bar. For me, it is this way. I kept the old 01.59.00 baseband and updated; however, I only get a perceived notion of 1 bar. However, I can make calls and get the same 3G speeds.

Can Jailbroken people on the iPhone 4 check their vibrate switches are operating properly as I know a few people who have the same problem as I do.

It doesn't always vibrate when you flick it to silent, and sometimes does vibrate when flick it back to the normal position, when it shouldn't.

Anyone else? What would cause this?

It doesn't really matter but its annoying me!

Anyone else having trouble downloading anything from Cydia?

I'm having trouble as well, anything I try to download it seems to run and install but at the very end it says host errors and nothing ever installs.

Also a weird glitch - I was 4.2.1 Jailbroken before, updated to 4.3.1 then Jailbroke again just today, when I did the Cydia app icon was just a blank white logo. Every time I went to search the screen flickered very rapidly while the Apple logo and loading bar came up in the background as if the system was loading something, then it would stop 3/4ths of the way and stick to the screen no matter what I did with the phone. This stopped after restarting twice, and Cydia got it's regular icon back suddenly, but I still can't seem to install anything. Also everything is trying to download and install Mobile Substrate, is that supposed to keep happening? I thought the jailbreak installed the latest one already.

Mine is working with no issue.

Can someone please explain what people are talking about regarding baseband? I'm currently jail broken on 4.0.1 and unlocked. I have no need to be unlocked so I really don't care if I lose that feature. Can I just upgrade to 4.3.1 and use redsnow?

Trying to jailbreak with redsnow. Using Vista, but running in compatibility " windows xp service pack 2" . However when I reach at the step when downloading jailbreak data appears on iPhone screen, redsnow stops working and closes with msg on windows "redsnow has stopped working"

Any solutions? Am I doing anything wrong?

for windows redsn0w problems.. try

launch redsn0w, go to taskmanager, right click on redsn0w.exe, Set Affinity, uncheck cpu 0. make sure only cpu 1 is checked. then try to JB again

Anyone else having trouble downloading anything from Cydia?

I'm sure they are getting slammed with everyone re-instaling their apps.

I havent been able to install more than one thing at a time with out it failing. Price we pay for driving during a traffic jam.

dumb question - but what's the deal with the basebands? total newb here...

Its the software for the actual phone, if you keep an older one you can unlock your pohone and use it on tmobile.

If you dont know what it is then you couldnt have saved the old one from like a year ago (1.59.00 or something like that) so for now you cant unlock. No need to worry about it.

To JB check out iclarified and follow the steps, skip nothing. Also left click on your phone in itunes and make a back up in itunes befor doing anything.

Anyone have issues with Cydia seemingly updating or something?

I open Cydia and it eventually puts an apple icon in the center of the screen with a loading bar, which then follows me when I try to leave cydia, and my screen is like flickering super fast strobe light style getting dimmer and brighter... hoping it stops happening but i'm a bit worried.

I access set affinity, I get Access Denied.

This exact thing was happening to me, as I described a few posts earlier. Particularly when going to the search section right? It seemed to do it twice and after exiting and reentering Cydia it finally stopped and started acting normally again. Hopefully it doesn't really mean anything.

anytime i try to download anything in cydia i'm getting the error:

"cannot comply

the requested modifications cannot be applied due to required dependencies or conflicts that cannot be automatically found or fixed."

what do?

Quick question:

I'm currently on 4.2.1 jailbroken baseband 5.15.04 iphone 3gs.

I don't need an unlock for the time being, but I will do in July. I was just wondering whether I could upgrade to 4.3.1 and jailbreak now, without going to 6.15.00, but if no unlock for 5.15 baseband comes out by july, would I be able to re-jailbreak using redsn0w but with the baseband upgrade?

Hope that makes sense...

Thanks for any help.
