Anyone else having trouble downloading anything from Cydia?
There is a known bug in the software update that causes problems with older basebands (obviously, older basebands were never intended to be used with 4.3.1).
However, you should get service even though the signal strength bars are stuck at 1 bar. For me, it is this way. I kept the old 01.59.00 baseband and updated; however, I only get a perceived notion of 1 bar. However, I can make calls and get the same 3G speeds.
mine is getting stuck in uploading to ramdisk!!!!
any help?
I've done it a couple of times and each time it goes a little further, but keeps getting stuck there... iphone 4 4.3.1
edit...
it get stuck in either first, second or third blocks of uploading to ramdisk.
Can Jailbroken people on the iPhone 4 check their vibrate switches are operating properly as I know a few people who have the same problem as I do.
It doesn't always vibrate when you flick it to silent, and sometimes does vibrate when flick it back to the normal position, when it shouldn't.
Anyone else? What would cause this?
It doesn't really matter but its annoying me!
I'm having the exact same problem. Tried it 4 or 5 times and it always hangs at "Uploading ramdisk". The phone is displaying "Downloading Jailbreak Data". If given enough time (say 20 minutes) the phone eventually reboots and everything is back to normal (no jailbreak). I can't seem to get past this step with redsn0w on Windows 7 (3GS).
He says how he fixed it right below that post...
TONS of threads about this... do a search.Jail broken. Got cydia. Signals are fine. What do I do now with cydia? Never jail broken b4. What are the must have JB apps?
There is a known incompatibility between 4.3.1 and older basebands. It is possible that your host file was pointing to cydia and when you updated you preserved the previous baseband. Did you have a recovery error and have to kick it out of recovery.
Check your baseband and if it is not the standard baseband that comes with 4.3.1 then you need to restore again through itunes but change your host file to point to apple instead. You can do this through Tiny umbrella by unchecking the "Point host file to cydia on exit" check box under advance mode.
and then close tiny umbrella.
I'm still on 4.0.1
Can I just jump in and do this update and skip the ones before?
sure can
Yes, me. Just run TSS Server and Redsn0w and you'll be fine.Question: Anyone successfully jailbroken to 4.3.1 with 1.59.00 baseband while keeping service? I have yet to see a comment about this. I want to preserve my baseband so I can sell it come this summer.
and are we still allowed to downgrade with tiny umbrella if we have our ssh saved already if we dont like the 4.3.1 update?
I fixed it by flipping the switch back and forth a few times. Seems to have worked for me!
for windows redsn0w problems.. try
launch redsn0w, go to taskmanager, right click on redsn0w.exe, Set Affinity, uncheck cpu 0. make sure only cpu 1 is checked. then try to JB again
I'm having trouble as well, anything I try to download it seems to run and install but at the very end it says host errors and nothing ever installs.
Also a weird glitch - I was 4.2.1 Jailbroken before, updated to 4.3.1 then Jailbroke again just today, when I did the Cydia app icon was just a blank white logo. Every time I went to search the screen flickered very rapidly while the Apple logo and loading bar came up in the background as if the system was loading something, then it would stop 3/4ths of the way and stick to the screen no matter what I did with the phone. This stopped after restarting twice, and Cydia got it's regular icon back suddenly, but I still can't seem to install anything. Also everything is trying to download and install Mobile Substrate, is that supposed to keep happening? I thought the jailbreak installed the latest one already.
