Hey folks, my card just got charged just now! There really is still hope for this evening and tomorrow morning.

Got the charge at approximately 11 PM eastern time.
Email confirmation came in at xx:05:47.
New York City metro area.
Status is still processing.
Space gray sport 42mm

Man, I am :07 and still nothing

Ordered on 04/10/15, at 06 am.

Apple watch sport space gray.

And its still processing! I hate seeing people who ordered way later than me for example april 14th and they are already getting their watches shipped out.

I dont give a ****in crap if they ordered another another color or whatsover. The main point is that if i ordered first the should be focusing more on my order instead of shipping a watch that was actually supposed to be shipped by june! I feel like they dont give a **** that i woke up at 3am in the morning to preorder my ****ing watch. AND NOW I HAVE TO SEE PEOPLE AT MY SCHOOL WITH THEIR WATCHES EVEN THO THEY ORDERED THEM LAST WEEK JUST BECAUSE IT WAS A BLUE WATCH? I bet steve jobs wouldnt allowed that. And if a see tim cook somewhere i will givee him the middle finger just because of that.

Dude, the logistics of this launch are incredibly complex. There are hundreds of potential combinations of watches and bands. I mean, cut them a LITTLE slack. I'll admit that the way they have gone about this has been terrible - leaving customers confused and angry about their preorders with very little information. But surely you couldn't expect a perfect launch for a new product like this one.

We as consumers would not have known if Apple did or did not make us pay for the band in the final price of the watch. We don't know what material costs are for the watch.

Having everyone purchase the watch in the sport band also doesn't bode well when trying to align this product to be in the same/similar category of premium watches with premium bands. The watch would primarily be seen as a "lower-end" watch with its sport band, which can be upgraded with other bands... As opposed to a premium $1,000+ link-bracelet etc.

This all has to do with how the watch is perceived. Apple wants certain models of the watch to be perceived as luxurious, others to be formal/high-end, and others to be sporty/casual. Having every watch ship with the same band would probably not create these separate watch "models" that appeal to a variety of consumers, but rather one 'basic' watch which is upgradeable, that may only appeal to a much smaller population.

Also on the other hand, it doesn't make much sense to give away sport bands for free and then have consumers be content-enough with the basic band to not want to upgrade to their 'premium' bands later on.

I just don't see how it makes sense to anyone other than the realtively-few people who want their watch now. And I say "relatively-few" in comparison to the many millions of customers Apple can potentially sell to if they approach this first-generation product carefully and market it as a premium device/fashion-accessory from the get-go. First impressions are extremely important in such a device.

This guy gets it... they are playing in the luxury watch market, not the Galaxy Gear market.

It's not like there are different internal components between any of these watches. They make watch faces in 3 different casings. Attaching the watchband is nearly zero assembly time.

This supports that they should have sold the watch faces separate from the bands or just included a base white rubber band with each watch.

This config nonsense is plain ridiculous.

If I had an Apple Watch may be it could tell me the time.

I completely agree. They really screwed up on this point. They should have kept things modular and interchangeable. Less manufacturing, assembling and shipping headaches. You preorder the watch with a certain generic sport band, and the other bands could have been available in stores on launch day. That would have satisfied their preorder, and in store launch crowd while still keeping things fair and orderly. This whole "fashion" thing is an after thought and marketing ploy that did not go as planned.

Relax, in a very short period of time, you'll have your nice sg watch and they will still be walking around with those ugly neon bands they chose to get a couple weeks early. In a few months, no one will remember who got their watch first and all they'll see is you have a visual attractive watch and theirs looks like it crawled out of a really bad 80s movie.

Totally thought this was satire, but now I'm not too sure.

Hey dude, since you are in school I'd highly recommend a basic economics course where you can learn about supply and demand.

If you really think the "fashion thing is an after thought" you clearly haven't read a damned thing about the watch.

They appear to be shipped by:
1) Country
2) Model
3) Order Time

I have yet to see a credible example of someone receiving a watch earlier then someone else that was not explained by those three variables.

I have. West coast buyer had June for 38mm wsb sport and it was shipped before someone who preordered at :04

PREPARING FOR SHIPMENT!!

This comes about 50 minutes after my card was charged.

Once again I had a xx:05:47 confirmation email; 42mm Space Gray sport.

I totally respect and understand what youre saying but remember this is the most expesive company we are talking about. Since they've gotten so rich WITH OUR MONEY. Shouldnt we get at least some kind of faster delivery time? Believe me if they really wanted to ship all the watches early, they could. But they just want to create hype from everybody so they can get more famous and richer

Yes. I understand. But this apple we are talkin about. They knew they were going to get a lot of pre-orders.

For example; you have an exam in 1 week but you start studying one day before the exam?

Do you understand where im going and what im trying to say?

Some black sport bands have already been shown to be having peeling problems. Imagine the perception of the first new product category from Apple in 5 years (and after Steve Jobs's passing) if Apple had released every watch with a sport band while scaling back quality control to roll out watches faster and meet demand.

Apple began producing watches as late as they could so that they could ensure that they had as much data as they could gather from their intensive testing to create a product that would meet these enormous expectations. Sure, they could have released them all early, but this product would have been met with even larger problems and scrutiny. Some users are already saying Apple should have released this product at a later date--once they could meet demand. You're saying they could have released it earlier if they wanted to except they want to create hype.

You have to understand that none of this makes any sense from a logistics perspective.

So I'm like 3 hours out of when the pre-orders started and have this date range. Is this thing really going to go by the minute? Or do you think once the crazy amount of "first few minutes of ordering" go through, it won't be as crazy?

Wishful thinking?

If these boards are representative, I'd say it'll pick up speed soon as I don't see nearly as many folks per minute after the first 5 minutes posting. Combine that with the fact Apple has a clearer picture of which products are in demand, they can shift production to meet demand better every day.
