At first I felt it was too big but I like it. The 40mm was too small and the screen estate in the 44mm is huge. My wrist size is 145mm by the way. 40mm SBSS And 44mm GOLDSS

Really glad I went 44. My wrist is 170mm, and the size is not too big at all.

Ok, I decided to return the 44 mm Gold Stainless Steel and I'll pick up a 40 mm Gold Stainless steel instead in few hours. I really don't like this 44. I need to remember to cancel my other 2 orders when I pick up the new one.

I feel better already, I was so upset about the size and the fact that most bands come in 40 mm, not to mention all the leather bands for 44 are too large even on the tightest hook. I am also quite fashion obsessed and I would die without being able to switch the bands often to match my gym or daily outfit (first world problems...). :D

I ordered two S4 watches. One Alum 44mm in gold, with pink sand loop band, and another in the SS Gold 44mm, with Milanese band. Both with applecare.

People who say they have skinny wrists, do you know the size of your wrists? My wrists are about 145-150mm and I have a 42mm S0 now and I'm torn.

I was all set to go with 44mm since I love all the extra screen real estate. Then I looked at the App where it shows the true size and I think the 44mm looks too big for my wrist. I'm leaning towards 40mm now.

In the pic it looks pretty big on your wrist. Do you know your wrist size?

Here’s the thing, the corners are significantly broader and more rounded. That was always a complaint for me about the original, with the squared corners increasing the bulk of the watch along the top and bottom of the wrist. One of the many points overlooked in the round vs. square debate is that a round watch reduces the size of the watch along the top and bottom of the wrists, so even though it’s got more area, it actually appears smaller on the wrist. I think the same thing is at play here. It’s literally 1.5mm taller, but to me appears somewhat smaller thanks to the gentler curved corners.

I'm upgrading from a S0 42mm, so I ordered the 40mm S4 thinking that 44 would be too big. But when I picked it up at the Apple Store, I tried on a 44mm and it didn't appear or feel significantly different than my old watch. I was going to return the 40, but now that I've been wearing it awhile, the 40 feels and looks right.

In any event, the improvement over my S0 is fantastic. Loading and using native and third-party apps is so much faster now.

I agree, something about 40mm feel just right (i have 160mm wrist, though). It is easier to forgot and doesn't scream "screen on a wrist!" as much. They nailed the sizes. Good to have both options.

I’m 193cm (6.4”) but very thin. First I had the 38mm Series 0. I then upgraded to 42mm Series 2 to get a larger display. Yesterday I went to Store here in Stockholm, and for me 40mm looked much better than 44mm. Now I’m rocking the small sport band on the white 40mm, really happy with the purchase.

Although, if I ever get either worse eyesight or a larger wrist, or if WatchKit improves so some useable apps are released, then I’ll most likely upgrade to 44mm.

But for now, this is a huge upgrade from Series 2 and I’m very happy about the 40mm.

Any suggestions????

I been thinking for days already. My wrist size is around 155-160mm. I dont know whether i should choose 40 or 44mm. 44mm seems too big on my wrist but 40 a bit small.

this is my first time buying apple watch...

The 44mm is too huge for your wrist !

You can go ahead with 40, looks perfect according to me

I agree with the others. 40 mm looks best on your wrist. I had the same dilemma and I ended up returning the 44 yesterday and picking up a 40.

Get the 40mm. 44mm looks way to big.

I agree. Back when I got the original watch, I tried on both sizes. The 38 felt and looked too small, so I went with the 42. My wrist is 170mm (just measured it for the first time) and I think that the series 4 40 that I bought is more appropriate for me than the 44.

Have you tried your old 42mm bands on the new 40mm?

Went with the 44m and came from the 38mm. Much prefer the bigger size and earlier to input my passcode also.

regarding the bands, 38mm will fit only 40mm and 42mm will fit only 44mm.

I don’t believe that’s correct. The lugs are the same on both watches, just different width to match the case. It should be possible to use the 42mm bands on the 40mm watch, just as they should on the 38mm, and vice versa ... The only difference is the edges will either stick out, or recess as applicable. Given the broader rounded corners, this may not be so bad.

Same. That watch looks so tiny now; as did the 40, which I returned.

Same question about using your old 38mm bands on the 44.

I’ve put them on mine and they look fine to me! Lol. They don’t go all the way to the end of the groove but that’s not off putting to me. What would be off putting to me is shelling out a couple hundred bucks to replace all my 38 bands when I just spent $800 on a watch! Lol

Exactly this. They absolutely do fit.

I stand corrected.
