I upgraded from series 3 42mm to the 40mm this year.

I want the bigger 44 screen, but it is too large .

...right? (I am pretty confident, but easily persuaded, lol).

I have very large wrists for a woman, and I was wearing the 38 mm because I don't like big watches. However, it always felt a bit small to me. Now I have the 40 mm and it's absolutely perfect. I think the 40 is a perfect size, not too much in your face and still large enough to be useful. I absolutely love that new size.

I haven't personally tried on the 44mm but it might be a tab too big for me I'd say. Go with the 40mm IMO. The only down side is that the sport loop for the 40mm model is a little small to put on and take off.

What did you do with your old bands?

They are kept in a drawer. ;-/

Is that the cape cod or storm grey sport loop? Looks great!

Try them on your 40mm as the mechanism is compatible with all bands. You might find they don't look too bad with the lugs sticking out slightly to the side. You may have to slide them carefully to find placement to lock them in, since the sides won't line up with the case as a guide. But they work identically otherwise with no harm to the watch.

They do also make spare lugs you can easily replace on some of the bands, particularly the ones with the bar attachments.

I like big watches, example Invicta! I have a few of these.
Thus, if/when I get a AW4, it will be size 44. Currently using a 42mm AW3...

finally got my watch.

very glad i got the 40mm. it definitely looks a bit bigger than the 38mm and is now the perfect size.

38mm was always a big too small for me an 42mm too big...

I like both on you. Most men prefer the 44, so maybe go with that one?
For anyone with smaller wrists and worried about the 44mm don’t be. Finally got round to visiting the Apple store today to try them both on. I have 165mm wrists and the 44mm is a perfect fit on me. It is not as big as it looks in the pictures online. And the screen at that size is beautiful and easier to use than the 40mm.

went from 38 to 40mm.

I wonder if Apple made adjustments in the hole distance accordingly on the 40mm bands so that the people making transitions won't find the new size awkward.

I have 165mm wrists, I have always bought the 38mm watch and this time I bought the 40mm. I was thinking of taking it back and getting the 44mm as I really love the idea of the bigger screen. I do want the gold Milanese band to go with it but unfortunately the band is just too big for my wrist when I tried it on in store :(

Here is my ss gold 40mm

I worried about this having 170mm wrists, but I am sooo glad I went for the 44mm. I'm a great fan of smaller watches, but the 44mm looks really subtle, because of its rounded corners and because it sits closer to the wrist. I tried my girlfriends 38mm series 3, but it looked way to small. Almost like a small fitbit.

Don't judge it by looking at close-up photos. I would advice anyone to visit a store to try them out yourself. And when you take pictures: take some distance in order to capture a more realistic perspective. Besides, look at your body length and posture.
