Got the space grey 40. I have smaller wrists - the 44 was definitely too big.

If the lugs protrude past the borders of your wrist, or the band loops over the borders of your wrist rather and sits above your wrist rather than snugly along it, the 44 is too big. Size matters with something you'll be wearing everyday.

All IMO of course

For me the 40mm in space grey always “looks” smaller than a 40mm SS or silver aluminium.
Maybe it’s because black has a slimming effect?

Ordered a 40mm silver aluminum since I’m quite skinny and generally wear 38-40mm traditional watches.

When I went to go pick it up, I tried the 40 and 44 but couldn’t decide so I stuck with the 40. I felt like the 44 looked awesome but massive on my wrists.

Here is the 40 - should I return and go for a 44?

PS: I feel like in photos the 40 looks bigger than it really is!

I will most certainly upgrade my 42mm Series 1 to a 44mm Series 4 Stainless steel. The only issue is that this model is so hard to find in Europe at the moment.

Watcha guys think? (you can pretty much tell which one is 40 and which one is 44mm) I'm coming from a Gear S3, honestly used to watches a little too large so I can't really tell what REALLY works for my wrist.

Id go 40mm. I used the 42mm on previous models but had to go 40mm this time as the 44 looked massive.

What size is your wrist?

40, easily. It looks great on you.

Look how the bands of the 44 sit over your wrist rather than along it like on the 40.

I was in your boat exactly. We seem to have similar wrists. I opted to return my 40 and ordered a 44. It's coming tomorrow. Can't wait!!

Larger Round watches tend to look slimmer than the same size Apple watch, even though the round watches are wider, because the rectangular watches form a much larger border along the top and bottom, and the round watches taper away from the edges of the wrist. Rounding the Apple Watch corners makes a big difference from the old hard corners of the Series 0-3, but it’s still a much wider looking watch than a similar sized round watch.

Anyone know how the old 42mm straps look on the new 40mm Watch? I guess there will be a sight gap either side but do they actually fit?

Yes all of the band lugs are interchangeable. The 38/40mm and 42/44mm bands are interchangeable with each other. You may have to fiddle with them a bit more to get them to lock into place because the sides won’t line up flush with the case as a guide to position, but they do fit without causing any damage, even if they overhang or recess from the case whether than aligning flush.
