Well i wasnt getting ported over untill i contacted Red Pocket on the chat service and told them to release my number and they released it and after I reset the network settings on my iPhone 4s and it took a few minutes and now it works.
Good to hear you can port the number, that is what I will do next month. :)

Was wondering about the new iPhone also. No LTE on Straight Talk. Rumors also suggest a nano sim card so they would have to accommodate that. Either way, factory unlocked will be the way to go. I don't plan on going back to AT&T so I will stick with ST and the 4s until all of this is resolved.

I just bought a factory unlocked iPhone 4S from Apple. I put in my T-Mobile sim card and everything worked right away. Is this the same with Straight Talk?
It took 6 hours for mine to start working but that was on a Saturday. As mentioned, SMS and voice mail take additional steps but not a lot of time.

Straight Talk: MMS for an ATT iPhone 4s that backedup after adding the ST Sim

Hello Lovies... I have an ATT iPhone 4s that i used
http://www.unlockit.co.nz/mobilesettings/settings.php?id=242
and everything is working great, except MMS... iBackupBot won't help me, I started looking at 'fixes' AFTER I had already popped the ST sim and already plugged it into my computer. I'm an idiot and should have 'researched' steps before I did anything, I just kept reading 'Just pop it in and you're good to go!' Any help/advice?
Thanks a million...

so far the service seems to be good but i didn't get a chance to use it much though but right now its better than Red Pocket.
Good to hear I will be switching next month then, I had to refill my account today and my pin wouldn't work so I waited 45 minutes for someone to answer and I could barely understand them. Gotta love when their online chat is down... Either way I look forward to Straight Talk from what I hear they are great, Red Pocket changed their $60 plan to $55 and reduced the data from 2GB to 1GB, can't have that.

I'd really like to know if MMS is possible on ST with an unlocked iPhone 4 without jailbreaking. If so, please explain. I can't seem to get a clear answer in my online research.

I did this two nights ago and it works great. Use the link below and follow the instructions for ibackupBot. Bookmark the link in case ios updates mess with your new settings in the future.

Thanks

Those speeds are on par with my experience in Michigan. They are fine for me, mostly because I switched from T-Mobile and EDGE date.

Curious ... is personal hotspot available once At&t iphone is put on Straight Talk or do we need to jb?

You'll need to be JB in order to do tethering on ST. I have MyWi, but best advise is to not abuse it b/c ST doesn't allow tether and it is against their TOS and ST currently doesn't have a tethering plan (maybe that might change in the future). I usually once in a blue moon/emergency basis use MyWi but that's it.

I uploaded a guide to configure MMS. Use at your own risk :D

Same, so do I understand correctly that buying an unlocked GSM iPhone 5 and a ST plan are the only way to go prepaid on the new iPhone? I'd prefer to use Virgin since sprints coverage is actually a bit better where I am, not to mention it's $10 cheaper a month. But since Virgin/Sprint is CDMA I guess that not an option?

you can go prepaid with any carrier, but it will cost you a lot more than straight talk.

Will there come a time when you have to set up the APN's for data and MMS again, aside from resetting the phone to factory settings?

Yes. Unlocked phones purchased direct from Apple can only be used on GSM networks, not CDMA. That means ST or TMobile and a couple of others

Sometimes I get cannot open web page or no Internet connection. Do anyone else have this problem. Im wondering if my data settings are correct. Thanks
