I guess I'll be hearing from Apple Legal pretty soon.

I dont see why they wouldn't undercut the emac/imac with a no screen included computer. It seems to me you lure people in with a cheap solution and sell them bigger as they need more. Kindof a first ones free policy. Gets you hooked and then gouges yougeekmeet said:What a rumour this is!
This rivals the hoopla over the G5 leak two years ago......in fact this rumour is probably bigger.
Lets go over this.....Apple is gonna introduce a computer that undercuts the imac and emac?
I dont think so.
We all know THINK SECRET has a great record with these predictions/leaks but im skeptical.
If this is a COMPUTER and not some itunes/imovie server device than they have to cripple it in some way.
They HAVE to.
Thats why i dont think it is a computer as such but the rumoured ibox/iserver device.
It only makes sense.

chicagdan said:There's one huge problem with the "headless iMac" rumor -- Apple does not sell a monitor that costs less than $1300. You'd think that if Apple was going to get in this game, they'd have a low cost monitor already in the market. It goes against everything that is Apple for them to come out with a computer that does not have a natural fit Apple branded monitor.

When people go for economy, sacrificing asthetics will always happen. Hell, my dad did that when he jumped computers, has the same silly monitor he's had since the 486 computer...a 1991 NEC 3FGx.Phobophobia said:But it makes sense to port over iTunes to Windows, it doesn't seem to make too much sense to have computer system without any monitors to go with it. Not only does it undercut from the experience, but makes it inconvenient.

Yes my friends ibook starts it instantly no lie dudeizzle22 said:Mine takes 2 seconds after I've already opened it for the first time. Anyway what I am saying is that a G4 takes a lot longer to run these aps. and if Apple wants to come out with an easy, fast machine it needs to be a G5.

SiliconAddict said:Heheh. It sounds like you dont get it either. The worlds greatest software that runs flawlessly it completely useless if the hardware it runs on isnt solid and relatively fast. Conversely the most powerful, reliable hardware is freaking useless without good software. The two go hand in hand. Until Mac users understand this, Macs will struggle with market share.
Why have a monitor? If you include a monitor with the basics, you're essentially going to jump to an eMac. If you didn't want that, but an LCD flatscreen, you jump to the iMac...if you're afraid of those all in ones, then you're going to buy that 17" monitor you saw at the local <insert computer store here>...remember, people who want a cheap machine aren't going to care that apple sells something that matches the design to the tooth and nail, and I bet that Apple already knows that when you delve into the economy line, you're not going to want to dilute your premium LCD product line with barely profitable economy tube/LCD screens...i_b_joshua said:Yes, but there is some sense in what phobophobia is saying. As a retailer it makes sense for Apple to be trying to sell everything the customer may need and a price comparable monitor is missing here.

There's pretty much no chance that the eMac will get a 9600 GPU. The iMac is selling to well right now for Apple to release a product that will draw users away from that high margin machine. I doubt that it will get a G5 because of that same reason.Yvan256 said:If both this "low-cost G4 box" and "Radeon 9600 in the eMac G5" rumors are true, this means Apple is finally waking up and offering their customers real options. Apple now has to offer something for "the rest of us" (current non-Apple users).
And again for a two button mouse?Sir_Giggles said:Hell froze over once. It can freeze over again.
