I'm only using 8 GB on my 6+ so that proves that a 16GB phone would work for me.
That only proves you aren't using your iPhone very much...
How is giving 64/128GB buyers less GB per incremental dollar than last year satisfying? How is getting less value satisfactory?
You are completely twisting the matter to your convenience...
Nothing changes for customers that need 64 or 128 Gb of storage. Nothing at all.

Stop living in the past. 16/64/128 was the REALITY last year. Deal with it.

Now show me a line up that would have made sense for this year. And no, giving 64/128GB buyers less incremental value is NOT acceptable.

IMO, the only acceptable change would be to start the lineup at 32GB but the price would have to increase to $700

32/64/128
$700/$750/$850
Utterly nonsense...
32/64/128 at the same price of $650/750/850 would be fine for Apple and customers.

Exactly, each $100 gets you double the storage.

Through apples approach though, they force many to buy $750... It's a cunning way to get an extra $100 out of people.

Why are you dodging the question?
Again does the 16GB model fit anyones lifestyle?

Cause you use 8gb , have spent 130 posts defending the 16gb, and yet bought the 64!!

Given you will not even buy the 16GB, I consider you to be trolling us!!!

So explain to us why a user who only uses 8GB of an iPhone 6, bought a 64..... Did not buy a 16GB ?

What an ignorant thing to say. I'm a modern user. I have an unlimited data plan. I'm constantly streaming movies on Netflix, TV shows, Watch ESPN App, Amazon Prime, Apple Music, Pandora, Podcasts. Do alot of web browsing, GPS, games, ect. I use about 10-20 GB of data a month. I talk photo's/video but upload them to my computer every 6 months since I hate having a cluttered phone. If I really need a photo from 2 years ago its on the cloud.

I download games, but only a few at a time. Once I'm done with a game I delete it. I hate clutter. All my Apps are on one screen. Again I hate clutter.

You are completely twisting the matter to your convenience...

Nope. Facts are Facts.

If you start at $650 for 32GB then....

64GB buyers will only be getting 32GB of incremental storage for the $100 they pay.
Last year they got 48GB. So yes you are giving them less value then last year.

If you give 16GB users a jump to 32GB without a price increase you better give 64/128GB users either more GB or lower the price. They are your most valuable customers.

Because I can see beyond my own little world unlike some people here.

I can see beyond my personal use case. Many here think that just because 16GB does not work for them, it does not work for ANYONE.

Why did I buy a 64GB instead of 16GB? Cause they didn't have any 16GB phones left.

Funny you are still avoiding my question:

Would you believe the 16gb, 64gb were sold out so I got the 128gb!

what a misunderstanding we had....

I'd like to officially say I'm now suffering from Stockholm syndrome ...

I mean seriously what is $100.

The 16GB was $810 with tax
The 64GB was $918

So for about 10% more I get 4x storage? Why not. Plus I'll probably get a few bucks more when I resale my phone.

You are 133% right.....

Yup, you! Poor you, that was forced to get 64gb! ;)

I mean even if only 10% of iPhones sold is 16GB it is still worth Apple's time to produce it.

But the good thing is if you bargain shop you can get discounts on the 64GB phone. At T-mobile you can get 64GB for under $650 if you enroll in their plans.

sales figures speak for themself.

Not sure why you are so negative about Apple.

nothing that i said was negative, all I'm saying is that statistics released by apple are ALWAYS shown if they're favorable in terms of marketing or for the company's image. (see iphone 6s: no mention of weight, thinness, battery, cpu efficiency)

Of course their sales are high, no one doubts that.

Where were you last year? Without avoiding the question like you always do or turn it around, just answer me this.

Since you claim 64GB buyers would be shafted if Apple raised the base storage (even though this changes nothing to them!), do you or do you not think that the base model buyers got shafted last year when apple gave the $750/$850 iPhone double the space while the ones paying $650 got nothing extra?

I was on another Apple-centric site last year.

I don't think 16GB buyers should feel like they got the shaft last year. Reason is the 16GB iPhone already has the lowest profit margin of all the phones. The truth is the cost of selling the 16GB iPhone is the same as the 64/128GB. Identical shipping, store space, build cost, sales person costs, ect. The only difference is a $10-$20 GB chip in the higher tier phones.

Let me use some estimates to illustrate this.

iPhone 6s 16GB
Cost of Goods: $350
Sale Price: $650
Gross Profit: $300
Gross Profit %: 46%

iPhone 6s 64GB
incremental cost of memory: $10
Sale Price: $750
Gross Profit: $390
Gross Profit %: 52%

iPhone 6s 128GB
incremental cost of memory: $15
Sale Price: $850
Gross Profit: $480
Gross Profit %: 56%

So as you can see from a pure cost to Apple vs Cost to consumer the 16GB phone is the best deal.

Please tell me you aren't serious... Customers do not care about Apple's profit margin on phones. No customer would say "I don't mind having the same storage while everyone else gets double the space for the same price, I understand Apple wants to make more money and I'm okay with it".

The base model buyers absolutely got shafted. From your point of view comparing storage sizes, one could argue that they paid $650 for only 16GB less storage the previous year compared to still only paying $100 less and now having 48GB less storage. Surely by your argument the customers should demand that the price be $600 to make up for the storage lost by the base model buyers.

Lol it just gets better with you.

You really think that is a valid reason? People care about apple's profit margin now? I've heard it all....

I have no doubt now that you are trolling.

16GB - getting same deal as last year
64/128GB - get rewarded more memory for being a high tier buyer

I see no problem with that. You pay more you get more benefits, privelages, and perks. Why would you expect anything less?

I don't think consumers need to be concerned about Apple's profit margins.

I'm just giving you the REASON why Apple kept the phone at 16GB. Instead of being totally ignorant of the financial facts, it is much better to know whats going on and why Apple is charging what they are.

The hilarious thing is people will always find a reason to grumble about Apple's pricing.

I bet people would be absolutely shocked that Apple's profit margin last year was only 21%. People don't realize how expensive it is to develop world class products, R&D, acquisitions, retail stores, OS development, App store, ect. Other phone makers like LG, Samsung, ect spend a fraction of what Apple spends on those things. So of course they can price their phones cheaper than Apple.

So then why did you say 64GB buyers would have a reason to be upset if the base model went to 32GB? They are getting the same thing as last year.

No. They are getting a WORSE deal.

They would be getting 32GB for $100 instead of 48GB.

No. They are getting a WORSE deal.

The comparisons are exactly the same dude!

iPhone 5S has 16GB for $650 and 32GB for $750.
iPhone 6 has 16GB for $650 and 64GB for $750.

This means from someone who always buys the $650 iPhone, they now get 48GB less than the middle tier instead of only 16GB less. This is a WORSE deal for the consumer.

What I am saying, and you actually agreed to, is that technically the $650 buyer is getting the same capacity as the year before. No one actually complains that they have 48GB less storage now. Just like with a base model jump to 32GB, a $750 iPhone buyer still gets the same 64GB of storage!

You seem to think that consumers subtract the base model from the next model up, factor in a price per GB ratio, and then determine if it's a good deal. No. One. Does. This. In fact it would greatly simplify everything. A 32GB iPhone starts at $650, then for $100 more you can get double the storage, either 64GB or 128GB. Do you hear people complain that it's a $100 difference for 48GB versus a $100 difference for 64GB of the top model? No!

I remember when the 5s came out I heard was this:

What a ripoff! I need to pay $100 just to get 16GB more for the 32GB phone! Rip off!!!

Then Apple starts the 64/128GB tiers then we hear:

What a ripoff! The 16GB phone is a ripoff!!!

No matter what Apple does people will call it a ripoff.
