Uhmmmmm.... 1,2,3... 4 i think. Ive had a RCA (dont remember), a Sansa Fuze (decent), and a 1st gen Zune (decent), 3 actually. Nope i havent. I thought you were talking about iPods in general. Now that i think about it... I really dont remember listening to music on an iPod Touch many times, maybe 3 or 4 and that wasnt very recent.

I have had 3 Irivers, 3 Cowon and two sony walkmans. My sister has got an ipod touch and I can say it is a portable computer because of applications, games and internet.Top notch device however the audio quality is not that great. For instance, metal music sounds rather muddy on the touch and electronica sounds rather funny on it.It upsets me to discard a device due to its weak audio capabilities.

Is there any place where you can buy a premodded ipod touch with incredible sound quality?

This discussion about audio quality made me realise why exactly I want a PMP in the first place.I'm a classical professional musician so audio quality is extremely important to me(way more than being able to check my emails from work a few times a day...).After doing more research I decided to give my hard earned $ to a company that makes a music player that has a primary function of playing music well,I picked the Cowon J3.

That being said I will miss my touch for everything else(maybe except video since the Cowon has an amazing display).Hopefully in the near future either Cowon will come with a PMP that has WIFI,or (ideally) Apple will come with a touch that sounds as good as a Cowon.

Thanks for bringing up the topic

Hmmmmm....

I dont think so. Honestly, i think it more depends on the earphones/speaker than the device, but, granted, the device does matter.

if the source is not so good , it does not matter how good your earphones are.

Probably not, but I would have to say, just try doing differen't EQ settings on the iPod Touch and see how it sounds. But I would have to say I had an iRiver Spinn player, and the sound quality is quite nice.

So how would everyone feel if Apple put a 3.2MP front facing camera for FaceTime, and no rear? Cause it looks like Apple is already putting drill holes in the fronts of digitizers for a front camera, which leaves no place for a rear one (besides in the corner, but probably too much like an iPhone)

I really prefer rear (or both) instead of just a front facing camera (I use my iPod touch as a media/game device, never will I use it as a Phone(skype)). But I have the feeling that no matter what the outcome, I'll be slightly disappointed with the upcoming generation (knowing that the iPod touch will never be a complete replica of the iPhone without the phone).

I was very disappointed with the 3G and now all I am thinking of is: Cram that 5MP baby in, give us a new design, end of the story. I have high hopes but low expectations.

No way the front camera would be 3.2mp, way to big for video chat. According to AppleInsider the Facetime camera on the iPhone 4 is only VGA resolution, 0.3mp @ 640x480.

Is it even possible to use a 3.2mp camera for facetime? The reason I ask is because some people already complain facetime is laggy (depending on the wifi signal obviously), and if you are trying to send a higher quality image, the lag will even be worse when its in higher quality. Unless the camera has different settings and you can set it at a lower resolution to decrease bandwidth use. It just makes more sense to use a lower quality camera for facetime, because face it you probably don't need that much quality for simple video chat.

I am gonna say a 3.2mp camera would be much more appropriate for video recording and picture taking though, than for a front facing camera where the sole purpose is to use facetime.

I would prefer a rear camera that did video recording and picture taking (also so I can replace my aging flip video and sell that off for a few bucks towards this new iDevice) because I would use that a lot more than a front facing camera that can only do facetime, but it looks like we are setting up for a low quality facetime camera and a back camera that is of lesser quality than the iPhone 4's.

okay, so the possibility of a 3.2mp front facer is pretty low. but rear facing, pretty high. i highly doubt they'd give us the joy of both though. but if they did, wow, first time apple would ever really impress me. i'd take a front facing vga. mainly because i do use video calls a lot and it'd be nice to have a somewhat crappy/good way to take a photo of me that i can actually see. but, regardless of where the camera ends up, as long as it has retina display and an a4 chip, i'm good.

As long as it has a mic and a rear facing cam, I don't care if other features get added or not.

I think that it will not have a front facing camera and might not even have a rear one. The front facing camera's only purpose would be to video chat with people which would be pointless with out 3g. The rear one would be a good camera that could take HD video like the iphone for the people that want to have a camera everywhere they go without inconvenience.

You do realize FaceTime is wifi only, right?

You'd better tell Apple that, because FaceTime on the iPhone 4 is WiFi only.

A camera has more uses than pics and video. There are numerous apps that require a camera - object recognition, barcode scans, etc. I have a family member who refuses to get an iPod touch until it gets a cam and a mic. The cam will be used for shopping to scan barcodes and the mic for song recognition.

I am hoping for the retina display, front and rear cameras (with facetime through apple account), a design like iPhone 4 (like an old Leica camera :D), mic, and a doubled capacity.

I struggle with the capacity issue... I would love to see more space on the base iPod Touch, but it really isn't made for music anymore. If a 128gb iPod Touch was offered, it would make the minority iPod Classic customers an even smaller minority. I'd be sad to see that go.

I don't see how iPod touches cannibalize on iPhones. If you want a phone, get an iPhone. If you want a fancy iPod, get an iPod touch. Nobody's gonna buy both, and most people are not facing the gruelling decision between the two... they'll buy the one that applies to their need (or lack thereof) for a phone. There are so many teenagers willing to babysit extra-hard to pay for an iPod Touch that Apple honestly doesn't need to worry about those sales, and there are enough businessmen who want a smartphone to buy iPhones over Touches.

Why wouldn't Apple put a camera on it? Some say, "It's just an iPod, not an iPhone." So what makes the Nano an iPhone? Apple needs the extra facetime users, too, or all the iPhone 4 users will soon realize that they can never find people to facetime with.

If the new iPod Touch has a camera (or even just the iPhone 4 design), I will definitely upgrade my first generation Touch. If not, I'm sure my cracked-screen, broken-home-button baby will work just fine until the next update!

Just a few thoughts, no facts. As a longtime Verizon customer, the iPhone is not an option for me. A camera with an iPod Touch would be nice to use with its WIFI connectivity. With that said, I won't be surprised if no camera is included in the 4G iPod Touch. Apple might think it would be too much lie the iPhone, and take away from the sales of that device.

What about if the new iPod touch had some kind of flip-able 3.2 mp camera, for face time, photos and videos. What do you think?

Well, no facetime for 8 gb, rather rear camera, because it would ve stupid if it had only front camera. And i say that 8 gb will not ve changed (maybe processor) and it will be priced at $159 (nanos will get a big price drop). Yeah the features on 32 and 64 gb will be the same.

I don't think the new iPod touch will begin at a price of only $159 because that just seems way too cheap for an iPod touch. Come to think of it, I also agree that there won't be a facetime camera on the 8GB model. Same proccessor as 3G touch

Ok could you please tell me what do you think about a 3.2 mp camera that flips over on an iPod touch?
