Stupid thieves if you ask me, They don't think there is a manifest with every device Serial # of every device in that shipment. Those will be flagged the second they are to be activated. LOL
thieves dont care, they're not the ones using it. they'll probably split the goods very widely, and/or sells it in parts.
the fact that they targeted a heist this big means they're probably a bit more sophisticated than the common street grifter

Intel. I told you.

M1's stolen on the M1... who has a better script?

Well, maybe they weren't M1s... read the report, see the date:

Police officers are appealing for witnesses after £5 million of Apple products were stolen from a lorry during a robbery on the M1 motorway in Northamptonshire.

The incident took place on the southbound slip road at Junction 18 of the M1, between 7.45pm and 8pm on Tuesday, November 10

Wasn't Tuesday, November 10 the day of the presentation? 🤔

I would think Apple is smart enough to track their shipments in that they know by serial number what devices are moving from location to location... thereby making it easy for them to brick the devices remotely should someone attempt to activate them.

On a side note... clearly an inside job.

What can you do with a bunch of devices that can be locked out with their serial number?
Arent they all unusable?
Sell them near an Apple store outside of a truck, predend they're company surplus and for some complicated tax reasons, it makes more sense to sell them to some random person at a great discount than anything else. Only accept cash and have them unwrap, unbox and open the thing to make sure it's legit. As long as it's not connected to the internet, it won't know it's supposed to lock itself.

What color were the bandits?
- No can say. Disclosing that would be racist.
What height were the bandits?
- No can say. Disclosing that would be heightist.
What weight where the bandits?
- No can say. Disclosing that would be weightist.
What gender were the bandits?
- No can say. Disclosing that would be sexist.
What were the nationalities of the bandits?
- No can say. Disclosing that would be xenophobist.

Right. I'll get that All Points Bulletin out right away.

Sadly doesn't matter if Apple bricks these. The robbers will sell them, and the end user getting these on the grey market will not know until it's too late and there will be no warranty or way to get their money back.
Anyone buying Macs via grey market are entering at their own risk and it’s their own fault for not buying from a legit authorized seller.

  • AirPods
  • AirPods Pro
  • Pro Display XDR
  • Pencil
  • Magic Keyboard

You ain't bricking any of those products.

Im sure those serial # will be flagged. They will be bricks. Im sure apple can track them or they will just file an insurance claim.
