The Plus does stutter at times but it's not really noticeable. And it's not just 3rd party apps. I was browsing the Apple store app and if I scroll on the main screen after everything had loaded it will stutter a little. However not enough for me to login and make a aggro post about it.

You're probably technically correct, but to me it's pretty darn close to a revolution. I have had every generation of the iPhone since the original came out and I enjoy the Plus more than any model since my first. The fantastic screen, amazing battery life and incredible camera make the experience revolutionary for me personally.

:apple:

I agree with this, having gone from the 5 to the 6+ and having owned most iPhone models. The design is amazing. It almost feels like holding a piece of fine jewelry.

I have not noticed any lag issues so far on my 6

Mine is the same way. The Apple Store app loads content pretty quickly and scrolls pretty nicely BUT there is some stuttering as it scrolls. Not enough over here to be annoyed, as it's settle, but enough to take notice.

The problem might also be that it has a much higher resolution, but doesn't have the GPU to back it up

Yeah but if it's like this on day 1, what's going to happen with iOS 9 or 10. I payed $800 for this, unacceptable

Still not seeing stuttering on mine but my guess is it'll be like every single iOS release; older models will have stuttering until later software releases (ie x.1, .2, etc). And it'll be tolerable or barely perceptible with iOS 9, and by 10, it'll be the standard upgrade cycle as always.

first, mobile revolution is over. The industry is getting close to becoming mature and saturated. From now on, it is going to be incremental changes. you are dreaming if you expect a revolution like the original iphone.

second, I agree that Apple was behind in some aspects. but they also lead some other aspects: touch ID, Apple Pay, etc.

don't tell me that Google/Samsung had NFC for years. yes, they did. but what they did was throw in a NFC chip and called it a feature. it is not a true secured and easy of use end-to-end integration like apple pay.

You haven't got Apple Pay yet so how can you rave about it?

6 plus owner, no issues whatsoever, flawless and perfect operation since day one.

Just reporting my experience. Ymmv.

I do see some lag in places, but by far my biggest complaint is that the photos app seems to choke if I have a lot of photos in it (like several thousand). It will randomly take 20-30 seconds to respond to taps, or quit without warning. Is this just an issue with iOS 8? Have others had this problem? Since I have 128GB model, I was hoping to have all of my photos, or at least a lot of them on the device, but that doesn't seem practical as it is now.

Wasn't experiencing lag in the first few days, but now I'm having strange bugs too. I do notice stutter sometimes when switching screen orientation, but also total non-responsiveness on the lockscreen from control center and my camera. Camera and IMessage have been crashing frequently over the last few days also. I'm hoping to upgrade to a higher storage model (only have 16) and thought maybe that would help the phones performance since I have it at capacity but reading these replies it sounds like software.... One final gripe, 3rd party keyboards, always requesting full access when they have and when I hold the globe to display the keyboards, it shows only about a quarter of the right side of the list, the rest is glitches off the screen. I know the order my keyboards are in so its not an issue for me, but come on. I love the new features in IOS, but I agree this seems unrefined. Haven't played with any 6's in depth, but my 5 feels strangely quick when I occasionally switch to it.

Frankly I think most of the issues I've experienced can be attributed to iOS 8 being half-baked. It really does not feel like it's up to the level of polish we're accustomed to.

All these threads have really started pushing me away from the 6+. Not sure I want to purchase one and just cross my fingers that apple will fix this lag you all keep talking about.

All these threads? There are a bunch of whiners and millions, literally, of satisfied users...
From the tests I've made (playing with both in an Apple Store for more than forty minutes doing almost every thing but phone calling) there is absolutely nothing laggy in the new iPhone, compared to my iPhone 5S.

----------

I found a couple apps which were choppy on my 6 before and now 'optimised for 6 display' are definitely much more smooth

One thing that iOS8 has done for me is made me completely rejecting the idea of ever buying another iPhone on launch day

I'm sick to death of the the keyboard .... i'm using swiftkey and it either:
1. Doesn't show up in an app / messages / spotlight at all
2. Shows up but doesn't accept input
3. Accepts input but only tap not 'flow'
4. Accepts input in any means but doesn't auto-correct
5. Reverts to default keyboard (despite being only keyboard in the settings)

Not to mention many app crashes. Multiple app-updates on the same day
iOS8 is so unfinished its unbelievable ... its ruining the 'new phone' fun usually get from a new iPhone

Was so looking forward to 8's featureset but it needed another 2 months of development at least .... cannot wait for 8.1 to surface ... needs a bug-fix list as long as arm.
Blame the keyboard you installed, not Apple.
I'm using Swype on both the iPad and the iPhone and I didn't have a single failure.

Judging from my own experience (no lag, super smooth) and the other replies I think it's safe to say you either have a bad phone or your settings are different than most users. You are in standard and not zoomed correct?

Perhaps restore as new and start over.

Beta users running 8.1 already talking above a lot of improvement in scaling, transitions, rotation, and overall speed. Within the next few updates the polishing will be better. Can't wait for my favorite apps to be updated to 1920x1080. Being an android user for the last two years there is nothing poor quality on my 6 plus.

This is something we have to accept.
First version of Apple's new operative system are not very well optimized. It is almost the same with OSX to be honest. It takes a couple of updates before running well, and usually the x.1 version is the right one.
I can live with that, since they are quite fast in releasing updates.

I'm hoping this is the case. The IOS works perfect on my 5, so it must be 6+ specific.

And lol @ the people saying people are whining and that this isn't an issue, I'm as Apple fanboy as they come and I can acknowledge this is an issue. Part of the reason I'm a fanboy is because I'm used to my OS's not lagging.

I'll be swapping this model for higher gigs soon and can report lag/stutter with new device.

PS: anyone having the keyboard glitch where you can't see the added keyboards when holding the globe icon?

I have some stutter and also notice some lag and glitches. I'm pretty confident it's software issues and not my phone. The iPad Air initially had horrible glitches literally kicking you out of Safari when you had multiple tabs going. It was so bad that I tried two other web apps and they weren't much better. A couple of updates later the issue was resolved. I'm pretty sure we'll see the same in the near future.
