It's interesting that you should say that. I find that I'm able to perform most functions with one hand on my 6 Plus, except the crucial one of going back. Even with Reachability, I can't reach the back button on most apps without repositioning my hand.

Swipe from left screen edge to right. You can do this from anywhere on the edge... even the bottom. No need to reach up top for the back button.

I feel like if the Plus had been redesigned it wouldn't look quite as obnoxious...I got a 6 but I'll keep an eye out for the next one that'll hopefully be more efficiently designed, then I'll be happy to leap. And buy a bluetooth headset so I don't have to put the thing up to my ear, I'd feel like such a hole doing that.

You'll probably be waiting two years - it's unlikely that the 6s and 6s Plus will have different bodies than the current ones.

Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately, it seems like many apps do not yet support this gesture, although I had used it for some time in Safari. I can't use it on Facebook, BBC News, BuzzFeed, YouTube, eBay, and Merrill Edge to name a few. And perhaps most crucially, most areas within iOS. Although I imagine that over time, it will gain more widespread adoption.

Finally tried both phones today

And without a doubt the 6plus is too big for a Phone IMHO

I personally would be embarrassed to put that to me ear- I guess I'm too old!!

Going 6 for sure- the size seemed just about perfect

You should not put a phone to your ear anyway, it's bad for the brain... If you use headphones or a bluetooth earpiece, the size of the phone is not a problem anymore...

Yes, that's what I noticed when I played with the 6+ and 6. I have huge hands, but I do not have pianist hands with extra-long fingers either.

The 6+ is just too big to use with one hand. You can hold it fine with one hand, you can touch the side of the screen with one hand. So you can read without problem. But you can't interact with it with one hand.
On the other hand, the 6 is tricky. It feels like you can use it with one hand. But it's still very hard to reach the top of the screen - and you have a lot of functions you need all the time at the top of the screen on iOS. Also, you can reach the opposite side of the screen, but you have to strain your thumb. So, the 6 looks like you can use it with one hand, but it's not really comfortable. If you have both hands free, you will just use if with both hands, because it feels better...

This is getting me to reconsider. The main advantage of the 6 is one-handed use, the 6+ has anything else: big screen, more autonomy, split view... If you're going to use both two-handed anyway, might as well get the 6+...

I agree. After yesterday with two hands or left handed use the hand is already getting better. I have been using the "double tap" on the home button to bring down the top of the screen. That seems like a pain at first but I'm getting used to it pretty quickly.
Just wondering with these big phone would it be smart to put the normally top menus at the bottom of the screen instead of the top.

I don't know but at least I am getting used to it.

I'm a 5' 8" guy with glove size large hands. On my 5S, I use that gesture a million times a day, especially in the Mail app. Unfortunately with the 6 Plus, I can't do that one-handed when it's in my right hand. My thumb can almost barely reach the left edge of the phone but not quite enough to swipe. So close. Very frustrating because it's such a useful one-handed gesture.

My experience with the Plus

Just wanted to add my 2 cents.

I've had the iPhone 6 plus for a couple of days now, and it's just fantastic. I was one of those guys who used to poke fun at my android friends who used the "phablits". But when I walked into the apple store and saw and handled both, the 6 plus, to me at least, was the more appealing device.

First, I actually don't think the Plus is THAT big. Maybe it's because I've been anticipating a behemoth after following the forums and reading reviews, but when I actually saw it and held it, it was big, but not crazy big. It's very light and I was able to use it with 1 hand for quick browsing and texts (I'm 5'9). The one handed use isn't as versatile as with the 5s or even the 6, but for quick bursts it works fine.

Yes, it does feel kind of strange when you actually make a phone call, but after a day I got used to it. The device fit in my jeans and pants pocket with no problem at all. In fact, at one point in the day I forgot it was there. Its thinness compensates for its height. Writing emails and typing notes on the plus is super fast with 2 handed use, especially while using swifkey.

Don't get me wrong. The 6 is awesome as well and for a phone is probably the perfect size. But in this day and age, our "phones" are no longer just "phones"- they're computers. So if you want something that really feels new, can definitely replace your iPad mini and is still portable enough for daily use, consider the plus. If you use the "phone" more as a "phone", consider the 6. Either way, they're both the best devices I feel apple has released, so you can't go wrong.

so I made a carboard iphone 6 plus as I do not live close to an apple store and cell phone carriers do not hve them on display yet

I even made it a bit larger than scale 160mm x 80mm x 8mm

it does not look to big at all in my hand, BUT I have seen one in the wild atleast I thougt it was one and it looked huge in the persons using its hands

is it possible what I saw was not even a 6plus? what are some phones with a very similar looked with the rounded edges that has bigger demensions than the 6plus?

The 6 plus is getting a ton of bad press today. CNBC, MSNBC, Morning show are all running with it. While this wont influence us nerds, it will impact general public. So hopefully this helps with availability.

I got my 6 Plus today...... and returned it today. The device itself was fantastic. Loved the screen, the landscape mode, and the camera. Didn't really get to test the battery life, but could tell it was MUCH better than my 5 with battery problems. But at the end of the day, it was just too big for me to handle.

Will be getting the 6 in Space Grey, if my state ever gets them in stock.

Wishing I had Kawhi Leonard sized hands right now.......

The iphone 6 may not be the iPhone 5c, but it's still the inferior phone between the 2.

HA. They're the same exact phone (less OIS, battery). One is usable and sexy, one is a phablet that wants to fall out of your hand when using it. You decide.

An insipid statement deserves an equally insipid response.
