I think you're spot on. The more I've paid attention, the more I've realized I use my 5 with one hand, more often that I had thought. However, when my 6+ arrives, I'm sure I'll just get used to using it 2-handed. Just as we will reach for the power button at the top and eventually get used to reaching for it at the top right of the 6.

Am I the only one who takes calls on my phone with headphones 99.9% of the time? I almost never put a smartphone to my ear.

I use my iPhone so little as a phone that most of the time it is used in speakerphone. Mostly in the car while driving or at home while cooking dinner and the wife calls on her way home with one of the kids.

I'm telling you, I use my phone as a phone for probably 40 mins/month. All the mins on my monthly bill are from my wife since she actually talks on it. Now if I was going to upgrade my wife from her iP5, it would definitely be to the 4.7" model The + model would be too big for her.

So there are benefits to both models and I not bashing either of them. So far, my 6+ is a big change for me but then again, I wanted something betwen my iP5 and rMini. I think this will do it. Looking at getting a BT headset for those infrequent calls so I don't have to hold the phone to my head. Otherwise, I will stick with speakerphone.

Handled both in the office

Was able to handle a 6 and 6+ in the office today. Have a 6+ on pre-order. I LOVE LOVE the 6+ screen. Great hybrid between carrying a phone and a Mini. However, I finally concluded I will have to cancel my 6+. :( It's not THAT big IMHO, but I do a lot of one-handed gymnastics with mobile check-in at the airport, bar code scanning at stores, "Ignore calls" slides, and responding to texts on the run. After some experimentation, these tasks are just not safely possible without hand #2 in at least standby mode. Maybe someone will invent a lanyard that hooks to your phone in case you drop it in one-hand mode... If you don't do a lot of complicated one-handed gymnastics, I really don't think it's too big. You'll love it. For for people on the run with a bag or briefcase in one hand and the phone in the other, the 6 is probably best.

HOWEVER, I wonder if a tech skin (like Zagg) would make everything just tacky enough to manage with one hand. Maybe I shouldn't cancel...:D

Yes I think a skin or thin silicone case would make the phone grippy enough to handle with one hand.

Blessing in disguise.

Now that I can no longer text one-handed, I will be much safer while driving.

You realize you can dictate your text. I do it all the time. I rarely ever type a text in the car (and only at a stoplight if I do). The rest of the time I just use the dictation. Talk loud and keep the message short seems to be the trick. I only seem to run into problems when I say my youngest name, Eirynn (pronounced Erin). A lot of the time Siri will put in "Aaron". Then I have to try again and speak loudly and then it will put in Erin, which is still wrong but I figure my wife gets the point.

I think some of us (me included) are natural one handed phone users while some of us (my son) are two handed users. No way I'd get the big phone.

I'm a two hand user, but for me, the 6 plus feels too big AND too small. It's too big to grip comfortably with my left hand while I tap with my right hand. But it's too small to hold with two hands like I do with the iPad. My partner loves it, but I don't think its for me. However, I'll pl with it over the weekend and see if it gets more comfortable with time.

I was making a point, genius.

"The G3 and Moto X (2013) are perfect examples of phones that are very manageable for their size.:

Reading comprehension is your friend.

You were making it badly then..You were making a point about the iPhone 6+ and those are not comparable. The iPhone 6 looks perfectly fine for its size.
I do think it looks huge, but so do other phablets. Once you cross the phablet line, there's no helping That apparently.

Please don't try blaming your inability to grasp the English language on me.

My point was quite clear. You just have a learning disability.

The Moto X compares nicely to the 4.7" model and fits much better in the hand.

Almost every other 5.5" phone on the market is more compact than the Plus, especially the G3. Apple could have done much more in the ergonomics department. It's not even up for debate.

Hard to believe anyone that says the 6+ is easy to use one handed. We know that isnt true.
It's a lot easier to get addicted to a "one-handed" phone than a larger 5.5" phablet.

Pretty much just gonna echo these statements again. People can adapt from using a Nokia 3310, to using a slider phone, to a candybar phone, to an 3.5" iPhone, to a 4.7" iPhone. They all require slight changes, but overall all of these phones can still be held with one hand.

On the other hand, the iPhone 6+ cannot be used with just one hand. People who already constantly use their phones with two hands might be able to adjust and adapt easier, but the people who only use one hand are going to find it highly restrictive as they'll not be able to use their phones when the other hand is not available.

You're wrong. Here is the Plus case in my hand. My hands are not overly large. In fact, I wear MEDIUM size latex exam glove all day long.

Holding it with one hand is very different from using it with one hand. Can your thumb reach the edge of the screen to type?

I'm pleasantly surprised by how SMALL the 6 Plus is, actually. My cardboard cutout was only accurate in the width dimension. The height of it was too tall by a fair amount and it was a bit too thick as well. The phone itself is perfectly thin and shorter than expected. I really like the size. I like it a LOT. It's the size I've been wanting to use iOS on for years!

^*That
Perfect size for me. It does not look like an oversize, tacky phone to me.

Really one of a kind in it's gorgeousness.

I can totally understand this feeling. Owned a Lumia 920 before (4.7") and it absolutely bugged me that I wasn't able to reach 'Q' and 'A' on the keyboard with a single thumb. I could shift my hand slightly to be able to position my thumb further, but then my grip on it weakens significantly and it makes me worry that I might drop the phone if someone bumps into me.

Thankfully the iP6 seems to fit better and one-handed usage seems possible. I'm guessing it's likely due to the smaller bezels and thinner frame.

The only thing I am worried about with my 6+ (not for a bit) will be two handed typing in landscape, other than that I watch lots of video, can't wait.

Lol

It's obnoxiously large, for a phone. I think a lot of people who get their 6+ are going to be disappointed whether they admit it or not. I'm glad I ordered just the 4.7" which will arrive in the next few hours via UPS

^^^^^ Someone is bitter they didn't wake up early enough to get the 6+

It's easy, the qwerty doesn't take up the whole row, check out hands on videos or just wait a little for your phone to arrive.

I don't have the phone yet - should be here Monday, Tuesday..I hope. I did stop in the Apple Store to see it and hold it. Yeah, the Plus will take some getting used to that's for sure.

And I hope I get used to it and not regret it. What did happen within the first 3 minutes of holding it, playing with photos/slo-mo video..the phone did slip in my hand - just flipped sideways, i was able to prevent it from falling by grabbing it screen/back. (My hands were dry, already getting dry skin like I always do in the fall - which is here very early this year /Winter)

Hoping the case I bought with a nice rubber grip will prevent that, the bare curved side - for me - did give it a slippery feel. Never dropped an iPhone in all the years I've had them (1, 4, 5). I don't feel like starting now.

My hands are not tiny, but they aren't the size of Shaq's.

I went to my local Apple Store today hoping to get a 6+. I took a look at the two phone sizes......I ended up purchasing the 6. In my opinion I thought the 6+ was too large (the 6 seemed just right).

After using the phone for the last few hours, I must say, purchasing the 6 was a good decision for me.

The 5 is the largest I can really use one handed so for me, having to use two hands even with the 6, made the decision to get the 6+ a no brainer. Most of my calls are on speaker or in the car and most use for is texts and internet so the screen is perfect. I just wish more good quality leather folio or flip cases were available at launch - and a Brodit holder.

There needs to be a down vote arrow.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 dimensions: 151.2 x 79.2 x 8.3mm, 168g

Samsung Galaxy Note 4 dimensions: 153.5 x 78.6 x 8.5 mm, 176g

iPhone 6+ dimensions: 158.1 x 77.8 x 7.1mm, 172g

It isn't much bigger than the Note 3 and the Note 4 will be even closer to the size of the iP6+.

Your "opinion" is noted....moving on.

Did you fail to add in the screen dimensions as well? Here, let me do it for you.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 dimensions: 5.5" 151.2 x 79.2 x 8.3mm, 168g

Samsung Galaxy Note 4 dimensions: 5.7" 153.5 x 78.6 x 8.5 mm, 176g

iPhone 6+ dimensions: 5.7" 158.1 x 77.8 x 7.1mm, 172g
