I haven't seen a whole lot of very convincing cases here on the board. I saw one where the phone appears to have been a factory defect, one where the guy seemed pretty cagy about the circumstances and one where the guy claims it got magically bent in his wife's purse.

I think you're WAY over stating it.

So your saying Apple reported 9 cases. What about the 50-100 cases that are around in the internet, instagram, youtube and even on THIS very forum? Are every single one of them fake? Do you really believe there are only 9 cases?

And Im not worried about people who bent their phones intentionally, no one buys a phone to bend or break.

Im worried about the people who's phone has bent in their pocket through normal use. My iphone 6 plus will be in my pocket for at least one year, and if people have bent their phones in their pocket after days, I feel a bit apprehensive for the long term. Bearing in mind some people use their phones for 2-4 years.

The consumer reports video is absolutely irrelevant stupid and a con.

So far approximately 100% of the bent cases have been near the volume buttons, which makes sense because the rest of the phone is pretty dam solid. So why on earth would they test the middle of the phone? We know iphones are strong, they have ALWAYS had the best build quality, we know it is a strong. We are concerned about the structural rigidity of the phone near the volume buttons, the ifixit internals have revealed there is solid reason why the structural integrity of the phone fails SPECIFICALLY at that point.

The consumer reports video was a waste of time, until they retest with the force near the volume buttons, it will not matter.

Some people still cant admit it, even though as every day passes the number of bent iphone 6 plus's increase, if this was a non issue, then it would have decreased.

The fix is quite easy though, Apple just need come out and say sorry and just add a tiny change near the volume buttons for extra strength, the rest of the phone, even the iphone 6, is pretty dam solid. They should also announce their sales figures to show with a few hiccups, the iphone is still the success it was meant to be.

Yeah the spontaneous bending in the big spacious purse was interesting!

I think we will have more data after the Apple conference call in October. I would guess that they may address the issue or will be asked a question about it. At that point maybe they will report additional information on how many phones have been reported.

Lets take your 100 cases = 0.001% of iphones bent

Lets multiply your 100 x 10 (1000)= 0.01% of iPhones bent

Lets multiply your 100 x 100 (10,000) = 0.1% of iPhones bent

Lets multiply your 100x1000 (100,000) = 1% of iPhones Bent

Tell me if that is a low number or a high number

Note: I am only counting the iPhones sold in first 5 days. I am not even counting the iPhones sold till today which is closer to 15 million

Also, we don't exactly know how many new iPhones Apple has sold. The last number they reported was 10 million and that was 5 days ago. It could be up to 15 million by now which would significantly change the statistics.

If it use 15 million instead of 10 million

100 Bent would be 0.0007%
1000 Bent would be 0.007%
10,000 Bent would be 0.07%
100,000 Bent would be 0.7%

1000 Bent would be 0.007%
10,000 Bent would be 0.07%
100,000 Bent would be 0.7%

To put these numbers in perspective:

the odds of dying from a plane crash = 1 in 10 million
the odds of dying from a bee sting = 1 in 6 million
the odds of dying in a bath tub = 1 in 840,000

If it bent apple already said they would replace it. Not to mention consumer reports did a test on the bending issue and found that it bends at I believe, 90 lbs. hopefully your pockets aren't that strong because I know some people aren't even that strong...

Correction: An online Apple support technician stated that if a bent iPhone passes the visual mechanical inspection (VMI), that it is up to whichever Genius tech you get to issue you a replacement or not. Funny thing about that? Any bending of the iPhone automatically fails the VMI per Apple's own iPhone diagnostic rubric.

Further, I asked a good friend of mine that works at an Apple Store to ask a genius if he would replace my bent iPhone 6+ under warranty. After sending him pictures of my very slightly bent iPhone 6+, the genius said no– bending of any type is not replaceable under Apple's standard warranty. My options were a $329 replacement (out-of-warranty), or they would allow me to buy AppleCare and then charge me the $79 deductible for a replacement.

To sum up, Apple's stance is that they will not replace your bent iPhone 6/6+; it says so clearly in there documentation.

I'm only slightly concerned.
I purchased a case for it. I think that Apple should be more worried than we are. If the phones really are bending so easily, then there's a chance they could have to replace and be out of a lot of money.

*** Did anyone else notice in the video that he applied consistent force to one focused area on the iPhone 6 Plus, yet didn't do the same for the Galaxy Note 3?

The worrying thing is, many users have bent their iphone 6 plus from normal use.

The other thing is ifixit tear down has actually shown there is structural weakness near the volume buttons, and until this gets fixed, the bending cases will continue to rise.

And percentages do not show the whole story. For example some companies even a 1% fluctuation in their revenues would have significant consequences.

You see, I'm not sure whether all iphone 6 plus's are prone to bending at some stage, I certainly hope not and I hope Apple will sort that volume button area out.

But what about the people, like me, who paid a hell of a lot for the iphone 6 plus 128gb, does not come cheap. What about the now getting into the hundreds of cases, what about them?

You keep saying that as if people haven't presented solid arguments to the contrary.

Which they have.

We have the account of at least one member in this thread who returned his bent phone no questions asked for exchange because it was bent, evidently from the factory but possibly due to use, so that casts some doubt on what you're saying.

Again, it's up to the genius technician. I've heard of people cracking their displays or dropping their phone in water and an Apple Genius replaces their phone for free. But this doesn't mean it's guaranteed.

And just because a member got his for replaced, that somehow "casts doubt" on the information I've provided? How about this? Take a glance at the newest VMI documentation given to Genius techs.

Proceed to bury your head further in the sand when you're done.

I notice you backed away from your initial position. I'm not surprised. Your first post was highly doubtful. Your follow up illustrates that point.

Not at all worried. I didn't just purchase an iPhone. I also purchased Apple's industry-leading warranty. If my phone bends, it will be accidental, and will be replaced by Apple within 20 minutes of walking into an Apple Store. I don't see what there is to worry about. It's like the people complaining have never dealt with Apple's customer service.

And with the amount of press coverage this thing has gotten, does anyone really believe it will be a problem whatsoever getting a replacement?

When the issue initially cropped up, it made a lot of sense to my laymans brain. I grew a little more at ease as my order came closer to being a thing I had in hand. Now that I have the 6+ on hand, I'm more convinced more than ever that I'm not going to have bending issues. Humungo screen aside I'm pretty pleased. I wish the screen was closer to 5-5.2. The battery life is to die for though.

You are drunk on the koolaid buddy. There's no use trying to talk some sense into you.

I never put my phones in my pocket so no I'm not worried at all, now let's enjoy your new toys

After seeing all the videos I cancelled my order for the 6+ due to no longer having confidence in the quality of the product.

Pretty smart move.

Oh, just noticed you are newbie....welcome to the forum by the way

The thing that worrys me is the number of bent iphones seems to be increasing. I made the thread to know if I am alone in thinking this or if others actually do agree with me.

No man, the number of people who claim to have their phones bended, seem to be increasing. There is the difference. I have read a lot, and on this modern days I have seen so little evidence on the photos provided.

PS: Actually there is more evidence that UFO's exist.

I have a sledge hammer in my garage. I bet I can break the phone. I'm really worried about this. Might not be able to sleep!

actually where is that guy?

isn't that the guy that bought 3 iPhone 6 for himself, mother and wife.

his was bent but he bent it back and fixed it, and then when challenged to take a photo he couldn't because he didn't have any other device to take photos with, and his wife was working all weekend...etc etc

what happened to him??

well this website http://www.oneofthenine.com/ created by "someone" who clearly has an agenda and who is scouring the internet and social media for cases of bent phones is struggling to come up with 24 cases of bent iPhones, and to get to that number he was forced to add 5 bent iPhones purposely bent in Apple stores and even the bent iPhone that Lewis used in his Unbox Therapy video.

If you know there are 100 cases please feel free to tell us where!!

The consumer reports video is absolutely irrelevant stupid and a con.

The CR video is the only one that scientifically proves the iPhone holds in a regular use situation. It applies a measurable force with defined support conditions.

You call the CR a con but you believe in the Unbox Therapy video which had lots of unknowns and inconsistencies.

First it was the different times on his first video and the already bent iPhone before he even started testing.

Then in his second video he claims it's a new iPhone, but the phone is already activated, had been already taken out of the box and nobody independent checked it for tampering.

The consumer reports video was a waste of time, until they retest with the force near the volume buttons, it will not matter.

The CR test was fair on all phones tested. They applied a load in the same location on all phones.

To apply a force on the iPhones "weakspot" they would have to find all other phones weakspots and apply a force there as well.

All those phones have weak spots.

When people don't like what they hear or even see, they are going to dismiss it as being untrue or unbelievable. It happens all the time. You got here in this forum people desperately trying to find someone with bended iPhone's around the internet sites and what not..... makes me wonder why?

Of course the CR won't satisfy them because they do wish the opposite results, therefore CR is conning us!!

I'm mildly concerned because i had a 5 with a very bent chassis so i know it can happen. However, I just make sure I'm careful with it and it'll be fine. My 5 lived in my back pocket and was constantly sat on. Won't do that again will I?

Oh god this hoax is still being talked about as fact?
This crap is reaching the embarrassing level of republicans talking about Obama's birth certificate being a forgery.
For the sake of the OP I'll assume he's trolling us.
