Well I know there NO color screen, BUT 60 gig is denfinate... I heard from a freind who works at Apple's QT Devlopment setion... That there is a 60gig soon... But I highly doube a color scree...

Whoa. Well I guess you just nailed you colours to the mast. Prepared to soon be regarded as either an oracle or a wrist biter (old joke).

Damn shame if your right.

is apple set on keeping battery capacity at prehistoric level? a colour screen is going leave the battery at 6 hours probably

maybe they're just waiting for fuel cell technology to mature rather than change their power usage

Well, my point was that since 90+% of the computing world uses windows, 90+% know how to use a 2-button mouse. In the US, this basically means everyone, since the computer market is essentially fully saturated. In fact, probably the only place to get a one-button mouse is from Apple. Children are able to figure out how to use a 2-button mouse, unless they are "special." ;) Otherwise, heaven help them since they won't be able to get a job later in life. And, yes, elderly might have a problem with 2-buttons. But that number is declining every day. In 20 years, probably every senior will have used a 2-button mouse.

Apple should bto it. You can delete the modem, why not the mouse? They already give keyboard options. Why should I pay for something that is worthless to me and will be replaced as soon as I get it? OS X already supports it, why hide it? Apple needs to get over the "not invented here" thing. The one-button mouse should just die like the floppy.

Apple owning up for being wrong with the One button mouse. joking.

Yes, I agree it should be a BTO considering a couple of they PRO Applications need a multi button mouse.

Plus, I see there will be a New metallic colour mouse and keyboard to match the Pro Line HW.

Well I know I'm right:)  ... But I'm almost certin about that.... Colors don't seem in Apples Near future from what I gather... But what do I know ( only a QT Person:) )....

An OLED display maybe?...

I haven't read through the entire thread but what if Apple ship the new iPod with an OLED display? OLEDs are bright and consume less than the standard backlit displays. Sorry if it came up earlier.

Anyway. 60GB is definitely ok., video out is good also. I don't care the color screen, really. Just give me a 60GB iPod! :)

I'm not convinced this is a good idea, a tiny screen isn't very ideal for watching photos, nor is a TV screen. How many people actually plug their digital cameras up to a TV to view their photos?

What would be neat is, if you could play DivX movies stored on an iPod on a TV. Or if you could record music and movies onto the iPod with an audio and video-in port.

the PiPod...

...should be the name of the new device.

I don't think any screen on the iPod would be good for viewing detail in pictures or any movies. Just like the screns on digital cameras and DV cameras, you can look at stuff to see how it came out, deleate the bad photos or rewind the video of you filming your feet, but not to watch anything.

However, to be able to plug the iPod in and review on a monitor/TV, or show a music/slideshow would be good. I don't see any major need to do this on a regular basis. Also, you would have no contro over the order of playback on the go - if you transfer your photos directly to your iPod, how do you edit the display order, etc.

Increased storage would be great, an easier way to transfer files would be great (as opposed to a third party reader, how about an input connecction) a colour screen would be great (but how often would the average user need a colour screen, sure album asrt is good, but my iPod is usually in my pocket or bag when I listen, so I do not see the screen) or even a emote with a sreen to scroll through playlists, etc would be even better.

Let's wait and see. :p

Not too old though my friend - where is NeatGekko when you need him? Oh yeah, he doesn't have any hands left to type with...

Do you think the current iPods will drop in price at all? Getting new one soon I hope, but I can wait if they are going to go down in price.

I doubt it, as the 4Gs were just released. Even if this new 60 GB photo iPod debuts before Christmas, due to its higher cost the current iPods would probably remain at their current prices.

Well Lets just say a big "price drop" is not in the iPods furtre, but maybe a small one... You never know, Steve might come in and say "WTF, we have to make it better then Johns (John Scully) Newton ideas... Just a joke, but it coul happen:) :p

They could easily ship the 60gb iPod without porting iPhoto to Windows. Scads of Windows users will buy it just for the larger hard drive. When they find out they can do more with it if they get a Mac, then... SOME of them will get a Mac the next time they're on the market for a new computer.
There are many people who say you can't put Apple apps on Windows because there's less reason to move to Mac (you're not saying exactly that I realise...)

Anyway I don't think iPhoto is a "stand-out" application for Apple, Windows has several similar programs. As such, I don't think iPhoto is a reason people switch to Mac... so it's a "safe" app to port in that sense.

The other factor is the HP alliance. HP has Windows media players, and sells the iPod, so is Apple working with them for their overall AV strategy?

this rumor is wrong, but if the ipod were to get another port on it before it got line in recording, apple would fail.

and i would never buy an ipod from them.

line in recording had better be the next priority.

i don't care about battery life while recording;]: 2.5 hours. i can plug it in if it's longer than that.

Sounds Great!

This will finally make me upgrade from my 1st Gen 5GB.

I love the idea being able to look at pictures on-screen but video on-screen doesn't really interest me. The TV-out port for both is gonna be incredible. I just hope you'll be able to add codecs like divx and xvid to the in-built media player, which of course will be quicktime based.

Would would be cool wsa if Apple came out with an export from iMovie to a new VJ software, sort-of a Keynote/motion/Imovie crossover!

I can hope - and start saving :p

Video out is much more useful than line in recording. What could be so important that you would want to record besides music!

putting my vote in

I would definitely buy one. I take a lot of pictures with my digital camera and if the can make it even easier to load them on the iPod and show them to others, I am all for a new iPod.

A better idea then an iPod video player, though the photo thing who cares, but if i could my digital camera to it and use as a portable mass storage device that would the *****'s meow.

i have a thought of what MIGHT happen....

garageband syncs w/ line in recordings

imovie allows a sync of the movies folder, only homemade movies can be transfered (until someone hacks it,lol)

iphoto syncs w/ ipod- allows minor sorting options and quick slideshow feature

keynote- transfer keynote presentation's and preesent using the ipod as the remote (maybe integration with airport express, or bluetooth)

itunes- sync and view artwork, along with music videos off of iTMS

mail- sync email

the 60 gb ipods will have bluetooth, color lcd, new games, same great interface! :D

perhaps im missing the point but whats so great about viewing hi-res pics on a 2" LCD? i can hardly stand viewing them on my 2" canon powershot LCD.

even more baffling is who gets excited about viewing hi-res pics on a low-res TV? reminds me of going to grandmas house, but instead of a slide projector, we're now clicking thru pictures on an iPod thru her zenith.

i dunno. what id like though is the same old iPod and interface with the ability to do video out and support for just about every major codec.

it doesnt have to be fancy. i dont want to play the video on a 2" LCD. i would though like to be able to put videos on the iPod and then hook it up to a TV for easy viewing.

Low-res TV, aw, come on, get with the times and get yourself a HDTV! ;)

Would that be the same low-res TV that you didn't want to show pictures on? :p

i have an HDTV. its a 50" sony wega. i also have 6 standard TVs.

my DivX collection is not hi-res. i dont think anything encoded from a DVD in mpeg4 given the fact HD DVDs dont exist would be considered hi-res. also, the compression ratio makes most encoded DVDs look like VHS.

so to compare a 1600x1200 JPEG to a 4:3 DivX video is a lot like comparing apples to Chicken of the Sea Chunk Like Tuna.

but awww, you probably knew that already.
