Let me guess, you have magnolia coloured walls and cream carpets through out your house

Really cannot understand the mindset of people that dont/wouldnt want the OPTION to customise!

You do realise that if you didnt customise it, it would be as Apple would have wanted it and as such you would be in exactly the same situation! Whereas those that dont like the ios7 theme, could customise it and be happy!

I personally think your being awkard for awkard sake.

Um, if you can't mandate UI conformity across devices then guess what, it ends up looking like ****.

If you want rageface icon sets and 12 clocks then you can head over to android.

There is a restaurant I frequent... The food there is ****ing awesome... But the furniture and ambience sucks... They play the most boring music too... It's too simple and boring for my taste... But I wouldn't miss the lamb chops there for my life... And the seekh kebabs...!! I have tried convincing the manager and the owner to let me get my own table and chair and to allow me to get my playlist... But guess what... 95% of the people find it perfect so they told me to suck it up in a very polite way... Even though I'm a regular (at least once a week on average)... So I either try lamb chops some other place or bear the sucky music...

This.......

Some people here not only want to bring their own table and chair and chose their own playlist, they want to cook their own lamb chops too!!!!

Right next door there is another restaurant called 'Androida gastronomy delights' which allows own tables, chairs, playlists and cook your own grub. But no they want to come back to the restaurant which doesn't allow it, and moan...

It's more like you want to do something more desperately when the rule says it's not allowed... If the rules allowed it nobody would bother doing it anyways... ##

I don't care about design but it's just buggy. It doesn't work, it causes problems. Now I have to fiddle around with my phone resetting settings and configuring and reinstalling iOS7 as if I haven't got anything better to do. If I wanted to sit with my nose stuck in a smartphone menus and settings whole days I would have bought an Android!

Why should all UI's have to look the same? If you want the apple UI, then don't change anything, however that shouldn't stop other people having this option.

Seems to coincide with the threads here. I personally am happy with iOS7. Its definitely a step in the right direction imo. Could they have done some things better, absolutely but its a good solid update

Its not bad overall at all - I mostly like it. It would just be nice if there was slightly more customization options though. Most complaints are asthetic so allowing users to "muck" with that would have helped.

I think even the most pro IOS7 fans would have to agree it does have great features but really one has to ask if they went too far in the redesign. My small gripe compared to IOS6 is the photo album too and camera it doesn't make full use of the full 4" screen. I'm sure they say it does make better use but for me it doesn't.

Generally, I am quite happy with the change and feel it is a step in the right direction. I love the new look and would have a hard time going back to ios6 design.

The simplest, most straightforward answer is that because this is how Apple does things.

People are paying Apple so much money precisely for that Apple experience. And the only way to get that experience across is if you can't change the UI within 5 seconds of booting up that iphone, and instead are forced to use your iphone the way Apple intended it.

In short, forget about trying to change the phone, and instead just focus on enjoying IOS for what it is (a fluid, stable, integrated and simplified mobile computing solution that's usable right out of the box), accept its idiosyncrasies, and stop complaining. :)

Why sit and close all the apps, iOS doesnt need any task managing the apps you recently used are all up front, unless you want to do it for your own benefit i guess

If they're going to make us close apps one at a time, why not have a close all button, that's all. If iOS doesn't need any task managing then why have the ability to close apps at all? It seems like one of those inevitable features like quick settings was.

This is the first time I am aware of such passion abut an iOS. Stronglly negative with one exception.

I am talking with people with real ives. They don't hang on forums defending anything Apple does or condemning anything Apple does. Normal users who buy phone for the function.

They are not happy. I have not upgraded so I cannot give a first hand opinion. My lack of upgrading may be construed as one take on the new iOS.

IOS 5 got strong positives form people i talked to. That OS had huge feature enhancement.

I agree... Not one person that I talked to, who owns an iPhone, is happy with iOS 7... They mostly upgraded because they never had any reason to doubt iOS updates in the past, so they just hit the update button without thinking about it... The same way they always did...
A friend of mine who owns a company that always used iPhones as their company phones is now testing Samsung galaxy and HTC One phones just because he doesn't like the way iOS 7 looks and works... He will probably stick with the iPhone, but just the fact that people who always liked and used iPhones in their private and business lives are contemplating something else because of an software update is saying a lot...

100% of people i know with iphones that have updated to ios 7 sre miserable with it. Including me.

Most (including me), just hate the new design. I also have a few family members that hate the design, and are having legitimate issues.

Apple missed the fundamental rule of programming anything, choice. Add all the bells in whistles you want but give us choice to turn them on or off. I can't believe how something so simple has fallen along the wayside.

Apple's profits would disagree with you.

Their sales figures says everything. There are millions of people willing to pay Apple to make their decisions for them.

Did I mention anything about sales? I never said they weren't successful.

I'm so happy I didn't upgrade to that hideous OS.

It's the first time in 10 years that I don't upgrade one of my Apple software straight away.

I don't intend to upgrade to Mavericks either - I hate skeuomorphism, but Mavericks contacts, calendar, etc looks boring as F.

I am sorry, how exciting can those particular apps look? What exactly is it you're looking for instead of a "boring" calendar app. It's just a calendar, there's not that much to it.

Apple has done a brilliant job of getting consumers to buy in to the "everything Apple" mindset. I enjoy using my MBA and iPhone, but make no mistake. Apple is ALL about control, sure, we the user can make small tweeks to make the products ours, but that's it. When new products come down the line that don't fit our exact wants after buying into a mindset, we flip, it's often frustrating.

With not knowing much about Steve J, i would guess he was a complete micro manager and control freak, even to the point of control from beyond the grave.

Use their products, or don't, but if you do, realize you will use them in the way Apple wants you to.

We always have choices, some less than optimal, but they are still choices.

Unfortunately they didn't miss it, they specifically decided against it to keep the simplicity if everything and more or less cater to the lowest common denominator (which is quite low in general).

How does what someone's phone looks like affect anything for anyone else? Something like simple color options would not destroy or even complicate anything.

Did I mention anything about sales? I never said they weren't successful.

So basically youre saying that Apple has to change its succesformula because there are a bunch of people like you that complain about that formula, whereas 95% of the customers are happy with it and keep making sure they earn a ******** of money. Youre a genius!!

Well, it looks like Cook will need to write another foolish apology letter and fire Steve this time.

Just to add, if Apple had to lose 5% of the unhappy clients - assuming they will all leave - I am pretty sure they would be adding far greater then 5% in new clients!!!!

Sales and revenue is the bottom line at the end of the day.....

How do sales and catering to the lowest common denominator relate to something actually being right or good. Apple might decide to do or not do something for those kinds of reasons, but that doesn't mean it's good or at least can't be better. And it doesn't mean we can't discuss what it is that would make it better for those who might care about it.
