Is there some closure as to which model to order if we want to use it unlocked? I see T-Mobile and then I turn around and see Verizon. Could I just also buy AT&T version at full retail and it be unlocked as well? I wish Apple would say these things or just bring out the sim-unlocked version during pre-order.

Well actually when going through the paces on my iPhone with the app store app and my carrier information already inserted, when you select buy contract free the T-Mobile one comes up so I guess thats what it is.

Right, but you're not getting a break on your monthly bill either, are you? It's like paying twice

For people with unlimited data, yes, they are paying the same as they were back when they were on contract. For those without unlimited data, it really depends on your plan, but a lot of carriers are giving discounts on plans if you pay full price or finance (0% interest) for full price.

For me, I pay about $20 less per month on a no-subsidized-phone plan than I did on my unlimited plan, and still have way more data than I'll ever use in a month. The difference in cost for the 6s is $450 ($749 v $299). Broken out over 24 months, that's $18.75, so I'm saving $30 total ($1.25/mo for the life of the contract).

Im on ATT but had a verizon 6+ but I think I'm going to get an ATT one this time around
You'd get it for the Band 30 support, but AT&T isn't anywhere close to deploying Band 30. They said "summer 2015" but haven't even mentioned it as of yet. I'd say you'd at least be fine for the next year until the next iPhone comes out.

So as long as it's paid in full, it will be unlocked, correct? I'm currently using T-Mobile, so I plan to get the T-mobile, but paying full price.

Get the Verizon model. No Band 30, but that's AT&T only, and it will have CDMA bands for Sprint/Verizon if you ever decide to switch. Guaranteed factory unlocked also.

If I'm on AT&T, would I be better off with an AT&T or T-Mobile model over a Verizon model or are they all exactly the same?

Good question on these 6s. Are they all the exact same thing just with different software "default lock" on it's carriers, or do they have slight hardware differences in the bands.

Currently I'm with T-Mobile, but I'm not loyal to any carrier. I've been through all of them. Currently, T-Mobile has the best value for the money, signal coverage, and speed based on where I am located. I don't want to be stuck on any carrier, that's why I buy in full, without a contract. If and when I need to move, my carrier might have to be switched, depending on signals on the new location, for example.

My 5s was bought unlocked, without a carrier. I got Apple to give me a T-Mobile sim card and I did the rest myself. I'm just afraid that "It may work but at a slower speed" because it doesn't have all the bands between the 6s models.

In the US, carriers are too in$ecure about themselves so they have to force locked people's devices to their own network. The only way is to pay it full price unlocked, or after the contract is over and you give them a call to get the unlock code. Lame.

I just tried the Apple Store App on my iP6+. The option to order full price VZW iPhone 6S+ shows up. I did check the "Remember Me" box, so come order time, no time wasted on eligibility nonsense. :)

That is b.c you are a verizon customer though. I simply meant for people who want an unlocked phone and are not on one of the big 4. T-mobile looks to be the only option again.

You most likely will not be able to buy a verizon model at full retail without a verizon account, and the SIM free will probably not be an option.

Hello everyone.

This will hopefully be my first time pre-ordering directly through the Apple website and I just had a couple quick questions.

I'm on a VZW share plan, no upgrade available, but I was planning on purchasing at full price anyways. I am not the account owner, but I could get the required information needed, if any. I noticed the little section about "Get Ready for Pre-order", entered the required information and all it said was that there was no upgrade available yet, which I knew, and listed pricing options. Being that I was planning on purchasing at full price, is there any Verizon account information at all that I would need in order to complete the pre-order/purchase? So far, going through the model/color/storage/full price options leads all the way to the 'select' button, but obviously it's not live yet. For those who have done this before, is there anything else needed beyond this page besides credit card/shipping info? I would rather not have to bother my parents for the account information if possible, and also would like to avoid having to deal with VZW at all.

Second question is, is there a duration to these pre-orders, or does it keep going until the release date of 9/25?

Thank you!!

To be on the safe side I would have the account number, account holders phone #, billing zip code, last 4 of social, and 4 digit code with verizon if they have one.

Preorders will last until the 25th, but typically anything after the first 30 minutes (at most) gets bumped from launch day to 1-2 weeks, 2-4 weeks, 6-8 weeks, 8 weeks, etc. If you want the phone on the 25th be at your PC/phone ready to order at 12:00 PDT.

I have couple questions here :
1. Is Att full price iPhone 6s from Apple unlocked ?
2. What model is t-mobile iphone 6s version 1633(att LTE 30) or 1688 (VZW without LTE 30)?

I need an unlocked phone day1 with LTE30 since att started its deployment.

http://www.fiercewireless.com/story/att-begins-deploying-23-ghz-wcs-spectrum-lte/2015-09-09

Last year I bought 3 phones and returned 2 since Apple didn't give all the information. I don't want to do the same this year

I still do not think you will be able to buy a full retail price phone, outside of the tmobile version, unless you have that carrier. For example, if you have verizon you will be able to buy the verizon model at full price, but if you do not have verizon you cannot buy the full price verizon model. People on prepaid or looking to just buy a verizon model iPhone at full retail will be out of luck just like last year. The t-mobile variant will be the only version everyone can buy regardless of carrier.

I know last yr when i purchased 2 iphone plus at apple store..1 was T-mobile.other was verizon..they were BOTH were the same model...so worked both ways..

I would think it still be the same with the 6s!
