and for whomever was pointing out that we're all getting our panties in a bunch is absolutely right, but just because we had a later original estimate doesn't mean we can't be frustrated with how this is playing out. I got up at 3am to place an order just like almost everyone else here, and due to my configuration, location, and probably a bit of luck, I've been marked as "shipped" since Monday, with Apple quoting me a delivery by tomorrow, 9/23. UPS has continually updated their timeframe from Wednesday, to Thursday, to "F U, I won't do what you tell me..."
Now, ALL of this is WAY earlier than my 10/4-10 original estimate, and there's no question that this is awesome that I'm (possibly) receiving a phone so early, but it's a bit disheartening that the logistics behind the scenes appear to be in utter chaos. Apple should have figured out a way to get these moving more quickly, as the bottleneck is clearly on the outbound side - so whether that means hiring additional planes (which Apple HAS done in the past!) or using multiple carriers (DHL and FedEx come to mind as two very competent and experienced logistics companies), it doesn't seem like this was handled as well as we've come to expect from Mr. Cook (who has been considered a master in understanding distribution), and possibly to a lesser extent, Ms. Ahrendts...
