Just picked up the iPad Air. If ever there was a worthy one this is it. Thin, light and so smooth as silk.

I LOVE the speed of it!!!!
I will admit however.... *sigh* the "ram whiners" were right. =(
Doing the thing that I 90% use my iPad for (web surfing) & the experience is sadly EXACTLY identical to my iPad 3rd gen & iPad mini. Having three tabs open (awesomer, engadget, macrumors) and trying to toggle between them, results in page reloads.... *annoying*
I have only the Apple music app running besides Safari.... I don't know what's eating all the ram. Obv, those pages don't hold a gb of info.... or even a tenth that.. *confused*

Went to Apple Store thinking iOS7 might run better on the new A7 based iPad Air. Gaah, it's equally stuttery. My iPad 3 seems to run it not very differently after I enable "Reduce Motion" option on 7.0.3. Really not seeing how I could benefit from upgrading.

With the iPad 2 still supported this year? I think Apple is gonna be going uphill on sales. ZLAST year, Apple underplayed the iPad "4" because they didn't want to splt their market from iPad 2 levels of performance. I think THIS year Apple is going to have to push high-performing games and other software for the A7 seroes devices that the older A5 series devices cannot run. They also should be getting out there in the accessories market (music making, toys, other devices) and push HARD for LIGHTENING capable upgrades rather than using Dock adapters...
It doesn't feel like Apple's pushing its ecosystem hard enough. thunderbolt devices arent seeing the market, lightening devices aren't being showcased by Apple... What are they doing to make more money??

Umm... selling 9 million iPhones in 2 days probably made a few dollars.
Lol, maybe you're right though.... maybe they should be switching their focus instead to selling more lightning cables. *facepalm*

Why?

Note: bold was not mine.

Because anybody that would see an amazing device, want it, be satisfied with EVERYTHING about it (size, weight, price, OS, etc.) except for something as insanely trivial as whether the notes app is white or yellow shows a level of whiny spoiled entitlement that makes some people sick. I assume that's what they meant anyways...

So I should purchase an item with my funds to satisfy MR posters on a Koolaid drip?

Good to know.

If a customer is so satisfied, maybe they don't have to run out day 1 to replace their device.

Fanboys have always been notorious for buying devices launch day because they don't care about reviews, potential build issues, or even whether or not the device improves their experience over the current one they have. Fanboys just want it because it's the latest from the company they adore. Often, fanboys will think that other people actually will notice and care about the devices they have (such as a beige iPhone).

My experience is that the "fanboys" are teenage kids with years old Apple devices that wish they could afford the new kit... & have time to go troll the net and attack others ferociously, in a childlike manner.
The people actually buying all the brand new devices the moment they come out tend to be satisfied customers with some extra income, that enjoy treating themselves. *just my opinion, based on observations over the years...*

I literally could not care even a teeny bit less about anything you do.
I know there are people on this planet with widely varying degrees of "pickiness". All I'm saying is- don't be surprised if others are disgusted by a certain level of "1st world problem" tastes.

I posted " why" to the person who made the original comment. You jumped in and spoke for mankind. Gives the impression my purchasing decisions effect you in some way.

It may be worth you considering that iPad ownership is not a " need". Needs are food, shelter, clothing etc. Your distress at my not having an iPad Air is a first world issue for you.

You nauseous reaction to my not buying an iPad Air on launch day is past entitlement.

On the other hand if your Koolaid levels are that high taken po a drip would be kinder to your tummy.

I love my iPad 2. But none of the iPads after it have been worthy enough for me to upgrade to.

Seriously? I've been using a 64gb iPad 2 since it came out. Just bought a new iPad Air 128Gb. If you travel on lengthly flights and trips you want the additional storage for videos, more music, books etc. Not to mention, the newer apps are taking more and more room. My iPad 2 still works fine, but is a little sluggish with iOS7. What makes it worth the upgrade to the new iPad Air? How about - it's much lighter and smaller, but with same screen size. it's faster. it has better wifi capability. it has better cellular capability. the retina screen has double the pixels and is incredibly sharp.

Not worthy of the upgrade - seriously?

While I mostly agree with you, TC400 made it clear it wasn't worthy to him personally. In other words, perhaps it doesn't warrant spending another $500-$1000 just yet.

Heck, I'm not even sure I'll bother upgrading from my iPad 1, which has some pretty poor specs. iOS 7 feels less responsive while navigating the OS than iOS 5 on my iPad 1. Running apps is a different story though. ;)

Lulz, hmm...
Look at how many upvotes the reply immediately following your post has. Might give you an indication of whether or not you you live in reality.
Also, you did NOT ask any one person a question. That would be a PM. This is a message board. You were asking everybody. The fact that you had to shows your level of delusion. Lol, if you heard somebody say- "I was thinking of buying a Ferrari, but I prefer pure white over eggshell. *sneer*", would you even bat an eye?? That wouldn't seem haughty to you??
Once again, since you're having a VERY hard time comprehending this:
NOBODY here cares if you buy an iPad Air.... now or ever. However, SOME people think that you saying that it is because you don't like the new update to the included Notes app (rather than what a normal person would consider a "real" reason) makes you sound pretentious.
It is HILARIOUS that you don't understand that. You are proving the point.

Why you mad tho?

I drive a Rolls-Royce. It was an ordered vehicle because the dealer did not have the desired color in stock.

You wouldn't know a first world problem if you tripped over one :)

I got two this morning. My partner was surprised that it wasn't much heavier than his mini and preferred the size much more.

Sorry this one isn't up to your high expectations. It's an incredible machine.

Just download another notes app for gods sake.

Why are you on these forums again?

Partner as in...boyfriend? Just wondering. I'm not sure what context people use "partner" in unless their co workers working on a project or something

So a few years following the introduction of a new product category, with numerous additional competing products coming to market it appears that the market "may be becoming more saturated"! No, really. Who'd have guessed it. Genius, genius

Lets just take a step back here because I tell ya; I'm a full blown Apple fanboi but even I'm not drinking the coolAid this time around!

We all know about touchID, we all know it fits perfectly in the home button, has support in the A7 on board die. There is ABSOLUTLEY NO REASON this could not have been incorporated in the air this time around.

You sound pretty confident, which is strange, considering TouchID yields are THE MAIN REASON that the iPhone 5s supply is constrained. You'll always see this argument with any product, no matter what it is. "Version 6 is what version 3 should have been! Apple hates you!1!1uno"

I'm guessing you think there is absolutely no reason the first iPad mini did not get a retina display, even though a year later they're still having difficulty getting them manufactured. Right?

The 64 bit processor is choked with just 1 GB memory.

Going to wait for the next one with touch ID and at least 2 GB memory!

Maybe you mean iOS apps are choked because they must be developed for a system with a total of 1 GB of memory? It isn't as if apps that do fit fine in 1 GB of memory are running more slowly on the A7 than if the iPad had 2. And we've already seen huge improvements on CPU intensive apps. Since those are the kinds of apps I'm interested in running, waiting a year while using a slower device wouldn't be logical.

After buying an iPad mini last year, I do not see the need to get the iPad Air this year. Don't think I'll get the iPad Mini Retina too. Love my present iPad Mini.

Considering that Apple is in a dicey position where it is against fragmentation, all the apps have to work in the least common denominator hardware. Which mean the apps in the new iPad will be faster but not necessarily taking advantage of the high spec hardware.

Unless, the App store magically determines your hardware and loads apps, apt for your hardware. So do developers have to write two versions, one of the older iPad and the 64 bit for the new iPad?

iPad

I still have my original iPad and not gonna happend to upgrade to new one because i dont see any use for it ,it is useless ,it is for children to play games, listen music, read books thats it, it is no PRODUCTIVE for me!

Had a look at Pad Air, mainly to check how much I would advance in weight compared to my iPad 3. The difference was not as big as I thought, so I'll pass.

I'll have a look at the iPad Mini Retina when available.
