Just curious but, how many of you here with teens are planning to buy a $1000+ iPhones? I don't think too many teens can afford such devices, nor can they get a Next type plan because of their age. If I was Apple I would not count on quite so many sales.
Its not "76% have the latest flagship, specced out iPhone" its "76% have AN iPhone." The students I work with have iPhones but they are usually hand-me-downs or 2 gens back.

Keep telling yourself that lol I haven't seen one legit speed test where the iPhone loses. #lagg

Try this speed test: set a mp3 as a ringtone.

On Android devices it takes under 20 seconds. On ios you need some unintuitive workaround thar takes multiple minutes.

I don't want an MP3 as a ringtone as I am happy with the stock tones. Also, that's not really a direct comparison. We're talking daily usage not specific task. There are several different legitimate speed test done by multiple people. A series of 10-15 apps that most people use daily are loaded onto each phone, each and every time the iPhone wins, by a lot.

I hope this doesn't turn into a thread crapping on teens just because we have ones like that awful "cash me ousside" beast stealing headlines.

I know my own and some of her friends have given up a lot of normal kid activities since early childhood to support loved ones who fought back from numerous cancers, heart attacks, strokes, surgeries. The most grace and strength I have ever seen a person exhibit was from a 12 year old at my daughter's school whose mom lost her long battle with ovarian cancer.

Teens in my county are required to do many hours of community service in order to graduate and teachers I've talked to say most of them take it seriously.

Other parents and I got our kids iPhones so they could take part in group chats that we can supervise and not worry as much about data mining, bullying or exposure to wider uncontrolled environments in other chat and social media apps that we would have to allow if we went to Android. Yes it's more money, but it's money well spent. And iPhones survive a lot kids can dish out if they are in a good case!

As some of you might know, I'm actually quite fond of Android phones for myself. But I'm really happy to have the kids stay on iMessage and have less risk of malware and such on iPhones. The much insulted basic interface on an iPhone also makes it so easy for me to check what's installed and what's been going on during my frequent "trust but verify" raids. ;)

Ironically a thread about teenagers has a large amount of users here acting like little kids with their comments.

Whoa whoa whoa. I'm 23 and I still want to check out Coachella. I'm going to Bonnaroo again this year matter of fact. Am I... too old?

Let me know how you like Banaroo, I've been to Coachella twice & would like to go to Bonaroo &/or Lollapalooza before I hit Coach again.

So Apple is 71% Lifestyle Gadget company and 29% a computer company.. Its making sense now.

Have you been at cryogenic sleep since 2001?
And what is it with people in this forum anyway? I would love to know what is it that makes people think Apple should only make Macs?

Because there is a demographic that can not accept the changes that a technology Company isn't the same that they were 20 years ago. Apple has soon ventured onto new paths that has encountered with new technology and implemented into hardware.

For those that think Apple should just be a computer company that they were 20 years ago is not logical. Apple saw the way technology was changing with computers and phones, they ventured onto the path of the iPhone and iPad, now the wearable market, Apple ventured onto that path with the Apple Watch. Change is not a always a bad thing, but some have a strong difficulty understanding what change means and how it works to make it more convenient in a World where everything is ever-changing.

they/we don't think that. It just be nice if it got some more attention and dare I say...variety.

Phones now have 2/3 lines. Plus, normal, sometimes an SE.

We have ipad lines out the wazoo. 12 too big, 9.7 too small, something in the 10 range work for you then? Mini line for those who think 9.7 huge as well.

The mp/mbp line....is not getting this. A slight disjoin I get is apple is making several other device to cover many needs. yet only 1 MBP. Why not...2? 1 like the current one and one that has all those icky power consuming parts some actually want. Since in many of our cases we run off house power by necessity, they don't need to worry about making us happy with 8 hour battery life. Off battery alone some things I do...2 hours is all I get.

Same with MP. With workstation tech ever expanding...it be nice it reflect that. nay even a midline "tower option".

My nephew told me that if a girl sees you using an Android, it can negatively impact your chances of getting a date. He said girls like guys that use Apple. We all know teens (especially girls) are "herd animals". I told him that this was a pretty superficial way to judge someone (by phone choice:confused:) but my advice changes nothing in his world.

My phone cost £19 ten years back and makes clear calls. That's a smart phone.
My wife has a 6s that sounds like it's underwater. That's my cash in Apple's pocket for no good reason.

So is this one reason why Apple stock soaring?

Apple stock is up because the smart people know how stupid we are.

I may be wrong, but could it be that the interest on computers is not what it was 10 years ago? I mean, you don't get now people buying computers just to send emails and browse internet. That leaves the so called Pro user category, but how large this one is for Apple to be even worth continuing to invest? I don't know.
By the way, I still use MacBook Pro, for final cut pro and Adobe aftereffects.

My and my husband's 7pluses sound really bad sometimes, and sometimes sound really good and we can't figure out why. Our phones should have the Quaalcom modems that apparently work better than the Intel modems they used for most carrier based models. Ours were the sim-free versions. I often use my S7 or HTC 10 for voice calls. The iPhones work great for everything else but as actual phones, our "mileage" has varied.

Well, it explain why they're so committed to improving iMessage and add a lot of emoji and that kind of stuff
