Honestly, at this point, I could care less about the Mac Pro, or the Macbook... What the hell is going on with the Mac Mini?

slip-ups like that are too delicious to be mistaken as just "typos"...

i remember the old "iweb" thing (where iweb references were placed and then removed)

or the powermacs...

bout time for a homepage refresh and something coming out of apple besides new colors to their ipods IMO

No kidding. Remember the G5 introduction? Steve even mentioned it at macworld.

All the pieces seem to have fallen into place for a great line-up to be introduced during the next few months. Pro Apps; FCS, FCExtreme, Logic 8 (under new name), Leopard, dual 8-core workstations, etc. Let the festivities begin.:)

I am a hard core pc user but thinking about making the switch since november.

I don't know how you guys do this but it's driving me crazy reading all these comments and rumors every day but it's like a drug I can't help it. Never used to be excited about buying a computer.

Hehe. Welcome to our world.

You won't regret a switch, trust me. Just wait and se what blossoms. The best thing to do, as a new buyer, will be to just wait until a more powerful machine is released. That could be within a matter of hours.

p-lease let this be true. Since I started shooting weddings I can't stand converting, batchings and processing ~1000 RAW files at a time on my Dual 867 G4!

You would be amazing at what a Quad Core G5 or Mac Pro would do for you with your need here: I do this all the time. My quads blaze through this stuff from a D100 and D80.

I know that this is big news because it seems to be clear confirmation about a widely suspected update to the Mac Pro ... but I'm underwhelmed. I mean, 8-cores sounds really cool ... and usually a web site glitch like this only happens shortly before an actual launch (so we should all expect to see the update tomorrow or next Tuesday I guess) ... but I'd be a lot more excited if software existed that could truly put all 4 (or 8) cores to work in truly parallel fashion. As it is though, I think the necessary software won't be seen for quite some time yet.

You must understand that Eight Cores are beneficial even if a specific application's software if not written for them -- the benefit occurs when the WORKFLOW is built around the processors. So for example, Photoshop processes a large image with filters and effects on a couple, Indesign RIPS a very Large PDF Press Ready file of a 64 page children's book on one or two more, all the while the user cranks companion video through Compressor, etc, etc.

I use Quad Cores for this type of workflow right now. Eight Cores only make it better -- RIGHT NOW!

I use XP, 2000 now Vista and lot of Mac's -- for hardcore production work, Macs are a superior system and workflow.

All of this Mac Pro Octo Stuff could be the result of Apple's Web Technology, WebOjects.

It is quite possible that a programmer mis-labeled an object and skewed some aspects of the html generation from the Database through the WebObjects middleware.

I have used WebObjects and believe this is one possible alternative explaination.

This only means we may be "closer" but not today.

Aloha everyone,

I live in Hawaii (duh!) and I just went to the Apple Store online at 2100 HST (0300 EST). Imagine my surprise when the images were unable to load! Apple appears to be updating their online store's website! Maybe the UK guys simply, as has been posted earlier, jumped the gun. After all, they are slightly ahead, time-wise, of us, right?!? :D I'll just have to wait until tomorrow morning to see if I am right.

Well, the no-lifer that I am: it's 2:15 CST and I was able to load the Apple Store just fine. I can't wait for Leopard but I'm really hoping for a new Apple.com and .Mac. They've barely changed since I switched in 2002. And when you're advertising the worlds most advanced software, you don't want a 6 year old web site doing it.

I took a look at the Microsoft web site for the first time in I can't remember when and the first thing that hit me was Vista is barely announced on their homepage. If you were pround of your product that's supposed to be the biggest release since Windows 95, wouldn't you display it prominently on your homepage?

My first post:

My typically very reliable source tells me it will be 20 days. He didn't give me anything else.

I'm not in the biz in any way.

Yeah it sucks. It's kind of like when I was a kid on Christmas. You'd open up all of your presents but didn't get the #1 thing that you want and then spend the rest of the day hoping that your parents would surprise you with "one more thing". Then you go to bed, like "dammit!". The Apple Store is kinda slow. I refresh it and it doesn't load immediately and I'm like "uh? UH? Awwwww...." Ok. The alcohol is kicking in now.

Nothing........and still we wait:(

:cool:First of all...ive been watching the macrumors for a long time now...just hadnt bothered to register. But after seeing the huge response on this thread i figured u lot are just as mac crazed as i am:eek: !

So here is my $ 0.2. Now that the dust settled down where are the Mac Pro's?!

Everyone's falling asleep, like me. Nothing is going to happen in the middle of the night. So we should just go seepy nite nite. Apple doesn't really do anything after 10am their time anyway.

Why tuesday?

Hey guys, another first time poster long time lurker. I find myself waiting every tuesday for a new update on...well almost anything apple related, but i don't know why. What I mean is why tuesdays? Where did that start? It seems to be an odd day in the week to release new products or update existing ones? Well, what ever the reason I will still hope and wait every tuesday.
