i have a bad start regarding the battery life time of my iphone 8 plus.

i set up my 8+ from a backup of 6+, then the battery life is horrible...6 hours of usage drains the battery completely. then i restore the phone and setup as a new phone. The battery life is up to 12hours of usage now. This is enough for me, i can use it for two days.

This is the only thing that's making me actually want the 8+: all the amazing reports on battery. Still not enough to get me to upgrade from my 7 though ;)

if you have 7, then there is no need to upgrade to 8. i upgraded from 6p to 8p, that is a huge improvement:)

Yes it is indeed awesome. I’m going on 10.5 hours since this morning with 3 hours and 22 minutes of actual screen on time and am at 80%.

Same here. I was really surprised after after the 11.01 upgrade. Before it I was finishing the day on 45% after 3.5 hours on screen time but after the recent update it was sat at 85%?!?!

I can sit and read the news for half an hour and the battery hardly drops. If I'd done that with the Samsung S8 I had it would have dropped 15% or more.

So far, loving the change back to Apple/IOS from many years won Android. Last time here was 3GS days. It also makes more sense really as I use a Mac Pro, Macbook Pro and iPad Pro etc for my work (photography/video etc).

People keep saying "screen on time". Do you mean usage time or do you have an app that shows screen on time?

8+ here.

3.25 hours of use - 2.1 hours of it streaming HD YouTube video.

5 hours of standby.

Still at 69% battery. I’m really impressed.

My 8+ gets me through an entire day but has to be charged over night. My Note 8 would go 2 whole days before needing charged. Same usage between both devices so I am not super impressed with the 8+ battery but it is good enough.

That's interesting considering many people are complaining about the Note 8's battery life due to it having a smaller battery than the S8+ along with having a larger display. Not saying I don't believe you, I'm just saying that's the first time I've seen someone say the Note 8 battery has lasted them more than a day.

On Saturday I took my phone off charge at 8 in the morning, went to climb a mountain with friends, took loads of pictures and videos on the way. Around 350 pictures I think. Navigating on Apple maps on the way and back for about 3 hours also texting friends from time to time. After all that when I got back to the cottage, I had about 53% battery left at around 9 at night. I’m beyond impressed.

Listened to music from my iPhone 8 Plus for several hours during the day yesterday (Air Pods) and a few phone calls (one of a little over 30 minutes). Plugged it in last night and it showed 74% charge.

So I'm having doubts about the battery life of my iPhone 8 Plus. It doesn't suck, but it neither does it look as good as what I see many people here at Macrumors claim to have. Your thoughts?

I mean, what bothers me most is how much it drains in stand by. Today for example, I may have used it for like 10 minutes max at school (from 8:45 AM to 15:00 PM), and I lost 10% in total in all of those hours. That doesn't look normal to me.

Can say that the battery life on my iPhone 8+ is WAY better than my iPhone 6s+. I have used mine all day, and have only gotten down to 25%. My Phone 6s+ wouldn't make it to 5 pm.

This is how it was when I had my 6s+. The first 6 months battery life was amazing. I marveled about it just like you did. 6 months later...the battery life just tanked. I went from having 75% by the time I got home from work to 20%...to having problem with battery going from 30% to 2% in no time.

It's ridiculous to a point that you know the battery can't possible worsen that quickly unless it's manipulated in some way....

Wow, nice. Was that handheld? I’m having a hard time getting sharp long exposure effects with Live Photos.
