What makes you say that? Cant you see that Music is at 1% ??

Mostly playing games, watching YouTube and replying to emails in that order. Oh and actually using it as a phone for work :D

Oh crap, I missed that! Usually when the usage time is crazy high, that is usually the case.

Did you buy any chance have an 8 Plus or a 7 Plus? How does the X compare?

I had a 7+ which would need charging daily. Usually ending the day on anything from 15% to 30%

I had a 7+ which would need charging daily. Usually ending the day on anything from 15% to 30% so would need charging every night to make sure it would last :) The X on the other hand so far has far surpassed my expectations and needs tbh. Only needs to last all day as Im happy o charge every day I guess this will extend battery life not charging as often.

On a side note, batt went to crap on my 7+ on iOS11 :O

Best day yet :)

The bionic chip is hyper efficient. Coming from a 6s, which I just put in a new battery, there's a night and day difference. You just don't realize it reading the reviews. You have to experience it.

I constantly had battery anxiety with the 6s.

I know the design hasn't changed from 2014, but the increased battery life and true tone display make it worth the upgrade.

What are you doing with the screen on if you’re not using it?!
Apple phones consider playing music in the background with the screen OFF as usage. On Android phones, you can see the exact amount of time your screen itself was on. It's a vague way to calculate battery life.

Any battery life calculation is vague anyway.

Sot is sot. There’s no disputing it. Comparing sot to someone else is where issues arise. Someone on a strong WiFi network who does nothing but reddit will have awesome sot compared to someone on a low strength lte while doing more demanding things. Sot is a huge area of discussion for pretty much every android phone.

Usage: 9 hr 51min
Standby: 21 hr 27min
36% remaining

Main usage: Spotify, Youtube, Safari, Messages

I love this beast.

How does it matter when other aspect of the device have unavoidable impact on the battery life anyway. I don’t know what I’m missing here.

Let's say we both have a note 8. If I use 7% battery for an hour of Reddit and you lose 10%, that's just one metric to look at. It's a huge deal for Android users and it's talked about constantly

They certainly have made the battery life much better in these latest phones.

I’m over the moon with mine too albeit an X. This was with 19% left.

Every plus user had great battery life to start with and then 6 month later or by the time the next iOS update came along, you start hearing dramatic drop of battery life.

Enjoy while it lasts.

It matters because it shows how much you actually were interacting with the phone (besides listening to audio). It makes it very easy to compare battery longevity with other phones you use since your usage patterns would be about the same on every device (e.g. visit same websites, same apps, streaming, etc.). Comparing between users isn’t super relevant, but if they’ve used the same phone to you in the past, and got same battery life, then it makes it easier for you to guess what your battery life might be like with the newer device that same user just got.

I just feel that there are too many variables working at the same time to even compare anything like that. Screen on time is just one of those things, how about battery wears, network connectivity, background activities, indexing etc. All that is not under the control of the user. It’s just not a correct things to compare battery usage like that I think.

Screen on time is the way to go. Usage time is pretty useless because it includes wake locks.

This phone is really shocking me with how good it is. Nearly every YouTube video shows android phones like the s8+, note 8, v30 and op5 beating the 8 plus badly. I am finding it to be as good or better while in use than my s8+. It’s in another galaxy in terms of standby drain. No android can even come close. Over a 24h period, the standby drain of most android phones will more than make up with any advantage they gain while in use.

I’ve read that iPhone batteries drop really slowly until around 50%, and then start dropping really fast. I do know it takes forever to go from 100% to 99%. I thought something was wrong with my phone initially because after 20 straight minutes of use it still showed 100%. Is it the best battery life possible? No. If they added another 500-1000mah it would no doubt be the best battery life of any phone EVER. There either isn’t room for a bigger battery or Apple doesn’t wanna do it. All I know is I can easily go 2 days or so with my usage and I don’t “need” more. It would be cool to have a phone that lasted me 5-7 days like old school flip phones, but its not a deal breaker. It can’t match my old Moto z play in terms of usage, but standby drain on the moto z was far greater than my 8 plus. I’m just waiting to see how the phone is doing in 6-12 months. This is my 7th phone in the last year, so it would be really cool to keep it thru 2018. I’ve read a lot of people say iPhones start out great but battery life tanks after a few updates. I hope that’s not true for me.

I think screen on time and usage time are used in very similar way, which is different from stand-by time.
Depends on how much your phone is doing in the background when the screen is off. For example the CPU doesn't go to sleep immediately after you turn off your screen, which you do a lot of times during a day, those seconds or minutes it take for it to go into deep sleep is included in the usage time and are in my opinion useless information.
