Hypocritical, no? You accuse somebody of defending the X as thought it's a bad thing, then you turn around and start defending the 8. Need I say more?

No, but I will. The fact that people think an older (some would say 4 year old) design phone with a larger screen a smaller battery is better is purely down to personal opinion. The fact of the matter is, the X represents the direction Apple are going in, takes some risks, and represents change. Some people don't like change so they go and get an 8/8+ because the X wasn't out and it sounded like ages so got impatient, then when it comes out they feel the need to bash it because they spent money on a phone that looks absolutely no different in a case to a phone created 4 years ago. That doesn't make it classic, it makes it boring.

Hey, I'm an SE user so I've got no beef either way. My X arrives tomorrow and I'l enjoy it regardless because it will be a step up from my phone in every regard except hand-feel because the SE is pretty much perfect as something to hold in the hand as a phone and use as a phone. But, I do need a bigger screen. Absolutely no way would I want a phone as wide and tall as the plus though, even if it had twice the battery and all the features of the X and more. As far as large phones go the X has hit the top end of the sweet spot.

Be interesting to see all the plus users bashing the X right now all gush about how chuffed they are about their XL or whatever next year, where suddenly it's waaaaaay better than their beloved plus, the notch becomes a non-issue, and FaceID is oh-so-suddenly way more convenient than Touch ID...

My Magic 8 ball says your prediction in the last paragraph is “Most Likely”. I did not trust it so tried again and then it said “Signs Point to Yes”.

Enjoy your X. I did not have SE but had the form factor in my 5s until the X. I agree the size of the smaller phone is nice for portability but the move to the X has been a pure pleasure!

X is not smarter.
it is just a lot of time loosing, making everything simple harder, like battery percentage, killing an app, unlocking device....
and a lot of headache

I just watched a video from iphonedo comparing the Note 8 to the iPhone and he was making fun of how easy it was to toggle auto brightness and basically all of the settings on the Note vs having to dig through 10 menus to find auto brightness on iOS 11. It's as if Apple is trying to make it as counter intuitive as possible.

lol, okay. Hope tying your shoelaces this morning came easier to you.

I don’t understand all this reported “time losing”. My X is blazing fast, from unlocking to within apps, especially with Face ID. Swiping down to see battery percentage (which I don’t really need to do because I am not that obsessed with watching a drop from 75% to 74% when I have a rather good estimate with the icon) is hardly a chore. Killing an app...oooh, swipe and hold to bring up “x”’s and swipe up. Soooo much time wasted. :confused:

It seems it is so hard for some people to understand that people may just prefer one phone over another. Nothing to do with being afraid of change, or not being able to appreciate that some people think the X is the greatest breakthrough in the history of humankind. Could it be that some people prefer the 8 some prefer the X???

It is actually alot of time wasted if you compare side by side. Someone should make a video with a set number of tasks and see which phone completes it faster. Guaranteed that my "old" iPhone will beat the X doing mundane basic tasks that we do every day like opening and closing an app.

Tell me what your phone does better than my 2 year old 6S Plus. You run the same OS as me, have the same apps, and the same services. So essentially you paid $1,000+ for a piece of software inside a different frame. We can open apps just as fast, take pictures just as fast, send messages/emails just as fast, wireless speeds are just as fast, cameras take the same pictures,etc..

So tell me, what can your $1,000+ 6 day old iPhone X do BETTER than my 2+ year old iPhone 6S Plus?

Assuming this is a serious question, considering that I owned a 6S Plus and now I own an X:
- the X takes much (much, much, much!) better pictures. It de facto replaces my point and shoot camera when I go on vacation. The 6S Plus wasn't good enough for that, for my quality standards
- Wi-Fi is much faster (if you have gigabit fiber at home with a decent access point you definitely notice)
- it can be recharged wirelessly (believe it or not, I love this feature)

This is just for my personal use cases. YMMV depending on what you need your phone for.

I have 12 pictures on my phone. Don't care about the camera... But compared to a 8+ (what this thread is about) they have the same cameras.

Wifi gives me my max speeds on my 6s+... But again on the 8+ it's the same speeds as the X

Wireless charging... but your phone has to be attached to a mat which it can't be removed from. So is it really "wireless"? You're still tethered down to something, at least with a wire I can lay in bed and charge my phone while I use it. To me wireless charging is a gimmick... Although I can see the appeal of it to be able to sit at your desk and quickly top off the battery during the day. Except on my Plus phone it lasts all day without a problem so I don't ever have to charge it.

The iphone 8 Plus is the most solid iphone ever made. 4th iteration of its form factor.

The X on the other hand is first gen and is suffering from all the problems that go with first gen forms.

Maybe next year will be different. But in the meantime, Apple sincerely thanks all their guinea pigs who bought the X.

What is it suffering from? I am having no issues with the phone at all. Which I am actually genuinely surprised by because I felt it would have some kinks to work out. Nothing though. Screen is the best in a phone, looks amazing, size and weight perfect, the gestures and 120hz input is a huge advantage, and Face ID hasn't failed me yet. The beta tester / guinea pig thing needs to stop, it's just false.

Wait a second, you asked me to compare a 6S to an X, that's what I did.

The same comparison doesn't hold up between an 8 and an X, of course. Pictures are mostly the same on the 8 Plus and on the X (except for telephoto optical image stabilization which the 8 Plus is missing) and performance is exactly the same. And the 8 also has wireless charging. I never stated that the X is any better than the 8 - both are great, really.

Wireless charging: it's very practical for me. I use my phone a lot at work, and I keep getting up and running to a meeting, then back to my desk. When at my desk, I just rest the phone on the wireless charging pad without thinking. That's much more practical than actively having to plug it in somewhere.

I don’t have a wireless charger yet but this is where I think it would be most useful for me as well. I think I might have to jump aboard that train this week. What do you use? I want one that looks somewhat okay sitting on my desk all the time.

So you ignore facts about how flickering causes headaches and eye fatigue and go for a personal attack. Seems logical once you realize how wrong you are. But it's okay, lucky for you I deal with idiot fanboys almost daily.

Now I go to your level...

So tell me, what can your $1,000+ 6 day old iPhone X do BETTER than my 2+ year old iPhone 6S Plus?

Because when I returned my X, even the manager of the Apple store agreed and said they both do the same thing in the same way at the same speed when it comes down to it.

The new gestures and 120hz touch input are enough for me. This isn't a feature/spec war. The changes to the X make it a better experience for some. There's nothing wrong with your 6s, but the X is better for some people.

And even still to me the 6S is the same as the 7 and the 8/X... I consider the 7 to be a 6SS and the 8 to be a 6SSS.... As I said, camera means nothing to me. It's still a 12 MP camera that does a good enough job for a PHONE. If you're a professional photographer you're not using a phone.

I was referring to more mundane and basic tasks that the majority of people do every day like sending an email or opening Facebook, closing an app, installing an app... Since the 6S they all do the same things as the same speeds and in the same ways.

And yet to me the 120 hz touch input made the phone unusable. I couldn't even drop an app in a folder without it move off of the spot where my finger was.

Also the gestures take more time than having a home button. The only faster gesture is the one to swipe on the bottom to switch between apps.

Now before you attack me, here are some reasons why i feel this way
* Bigger phone
* Better battery
* benchmarks are impressive
* touch ID is hard to get rid of
* Fixing the X is highly expensive
* no home button
I upgraded to the 8 and i returned it for the 8+. This was when regret started to kick in wishing i waited for the X. When i got my X, it felt like i was using an 8 but without the home button. Coming from an iphone 6s, the 8 + feels like the real upgrade.

I love this one.......'benchmarks are impressive". Cant make this crap up.

I am not sure what you mean by unusable, I haven't had an issue moving apps or doing anything relating to touch, it's just super smooth. The gestures don't take any more time and are more fun to use. Biggest change since the original iPhone in my eyes. I am actually using the multitasking now, swiping from the bottom bar has been so quick and fluid, swiping up and over is great too. I went back to using my 7 Plus or my iPad Pro and the home button feels like a step back. Have you actually used the X? I have no issue with your opinion, you have every right not to like the X, but you just seem so angry about it. It's an awesome phone and I haven't had one problem with it.

Spigen F303W has been perfect for me. I love it, works really well, looks nice on the desk.

I had it for 4 days and returned it for a bunch of reasons so I have every right to voice my opinion after using it. Gestures are not faster and not as intuitive as having 1 button to do it all. How do I know this? I was in 3 carrier stores today and 3 different people told me that had 4-5 X's returned every day since release due to 1) it's too small 2) I don't know how to use it / the UI/UX is too confusing.

That's what the average user on an iPhone thinks, not someone using these forums. That says a lot about what people think. 3 stores getting 4-5 returns a day each in 6 days... That's 70-90 phones returned in a 10 mile radius in only 6 days. What about everywhere else?

Cheers, and while I'me sure I'll love the X and not want to go back to anything smaller, I do think that there is room in the market for something like an "XS" which has a similar form factor to the SE, maybe slightly wider, decent thickness, slimmer bezels (no notch) and the same flat band around the outside with maybe only a slight roundover. Would be perfect for those who want "phone first".

X is not smarter.

Define smart. My phone only does what I want it to do. That's pretty dumb if you ask me. As for all this time losing, honestly, if the extra second or fractions of a second doing something all add up to a significant portion of your daily life, you have way more to worry about than the phone in your hand. I don't need to monitor battery percentage - the symbol shows it, and it warns me at 20% etc. Why do you need to know the % at a glance? If that's all a headache for you, maybe take a step back and look at what really matters in life.

Yea of course, everyone has their right to voice their opinion. I can't say much about the returns because I haven't had any problems with it. Either way, try not to care so much ya know? You seem extra worked up about it. It's just a phone. You don't like it, you returned it. It's all good.

I can't stand when people lie. They haven't even used the phone and they're saying this is bad or that is bad. Providing people with false information like battery life and then they post things like "I'm only getting 7 hours out of my X, is it broken?" well no, you read someone's false information and believed it over someone who actually used the phone and tried to optimize it as best as possible to get the longest battery life.

It's very clear after coming from a Plus phone with all of it's benefits that the X is a downgrade. Coming from a regular sized phone like an SE or a 6,7,8 it's a huge upgrade.

There is no way Apple had enough OLED panels to produce two size iPhones this year. Samsung was the only supplier they can actually meet the demand to manufacture an OLED panel for the iPhone X. The iPhone X Plus will likely be a reality In 2018.
Yep. With potential panel discrepancies. Yikes
