Now before you attack me, here are some reasons why i feel this way
* Bigger phone
* Better battery
* benchmarks are impressive
* touch ID is hard to get rid of
* Fixing the X is highly expensive
* no home button
I upgraded to the 8 and i returned it for the 8+. This was when regret started to kick in wishing i waited for the X. When i got my X, it felt like i was using an 8 but without the home button. Coming from an iphone 6s, the 8 + feels like the real upgrade.

My response:

1. Bigger footprint isn’t a plus for me - no pun intended.
2. X battery is on par if not longer lasting than the 8+.
3. X benchmarks are improved over the 8+.
4. Face ID v Touch ID is a user preference at this point. However having used Face ID for almost a week now it’s def. my preferred ID.
5. You win hands down on X repair cost. But it wasn’t a detractor for me, I just bought a more durable case than I typically would.
6. No Home button - haven’t missed it. Gestures are great. Apple could improve the one for reachability though. That one is a bit awkward with such little space and so far down the screen.

You also neglect to note X has a nicer screen and better camera - both factually true, not just opinion. X isn’t for everyone, some prefer the 8+, and that is why Apple released it alongside the X, but some of your rationale is off.

I can't stand when people lie. They haven't even used the phone and they're saying this is bad or that is bad. Providing people with false information like battery life and then they post things like "I'm only getting 7 hours out of my X, is it broken?" well no, you read someone's false information and believed it over someone who actually used the phone and tried to optimize it as best as possible to get the longest battery life.

It's very clear after coming from a Plus phone with all of it's benefits that the X is a downgrade. Coming from a regular sized phone like an SE or a 6,7,8 it's a huge upgrade.

I got you, yea it's frustrating for both sides. Most X users have been genuinely enthusiastic about the changes and see it as a nice upgrade. I came from a Plus and the only thing I am missing is landscape (which I didn't use). For those that need that landscape, I totally get it. But it gets annoying even people call it a downgrade. Because it's not for a lot of people. For me, it has everything I loved about the Plus (great screen, more RAM, great camera) in a smaller package. Just what I was looking for. Definitely no downgrade for me and a lot of people. Just the same as the 8 or 8 Plus being a great option for a ton of people. It's a win win and I wish the animosity would stop. It's ruining the forums.

But worse battery life, and the biggest complaint for your average iPhone users? Battery life. All day every day I see people walking around attached to their chargers. Sitting at a bar... "Hey can I plug my phone in?" in a hospital waiting room "Is there an outlet anywhere?"

Besides this thread is about how the 8+ is a better phone. So why is it a better phone? What makes the X better than the 8+? The insides are almost identical, the software is the same iOS which runs on every other iPhone... What sets it apart? It's in a different physical form, does that make it better? Not in my opinion because you sacrifice function for form.

The X is actually getting better battery life for me than my 7 Plus, and there are youtube battery tests where the X bests the 8 Plus. I can only speak for myself, but the OLED screen, 120hz input, gesture based UI, Face ID, and removal of chins/modern design make it a better phone. I've never enjoyed using an iPhone more than I have with the X. People can have different opinions, that's really okay. Probably best just to move on at this point.

The tests mean nothing because the X is overheating and throttling, thus giving you more battery life. In real world tests you would never use 100% of the 6 core cpu and it would never throttle so your battery life will suffer. As for why you're getting better battery life than your 7 I can't comment since there are many factors as to why your battery sucked on the 7. You should easily see 10+ hours of usage on any Plus model.

My battery life was great on the 7 Plus, it's just as good or better on the X. I think you should sit the next couple plays out bud, there is no reason the be this angry about a phone.

Battery life comparisons are always subjective and generally unhelpful IMO
The only real life way to compare is if a single user compares his own battery life between 2 (or more phones)
Say 1 user has phone A and gets X battery life and then uses phone B and gets Y batter life under normal usage, that can be compared

But to say someone gets X hours and another gets Y hours isn't helpful, because usage can be entirely different
And to say someone is lying about getting 14 hours is ludicrous because nobody really knows usage
Even saying light use v heavy use is subjective because heavy to me might be light to someone else

I have a 7 Plus and I unplug it in the mornings and plug it back in at night with usually close to 90% remaining, sometimes more
I check emails, notifications, text and other light usage during the day
I could prolly go 3 days, maybe more without plugging in

Is my usage normal? Not for someone who uses music, YouTube, SnapChat, etc all day long
But it is normal for me, and I could easily get 14+ hours
So to say it isn't possible, well, that's not true

This whole thread is just for 8 Plus users to validate their decision to not get the X.

I had an X and returned it to go back to a Plus.

Seems like you're the angry one lol I'm just telling you that you aren't getting 12+ hours of real usage on your X. If you weren't getting 12+ hours on your Plus then something was wrong with it.

Right. You're validating your decision to not keep the X. Why else would anybody persistently post about one phone being better than another to a forum of strangers?

You're talking about 14+ hours off the charger... I'm talking about 14+ hours of measured battery usage in the stats page. On an X that is not possible unless you are ONLY using it for music playback. If you don't believe me try it for yourself.

I don’t agree. I won’t get into all of the points but battery life for example.

The X gets better battery life than my 7 plus which already has great life.

Bigger phone in what respect?

Yes I need the big size of screen so are people over 50

Cause this is a thread that says the 8+ is better?
Yes it is but all your recent posts have been putting down the X while trying to prop up the 8 Plus. That shows insecurity about your decision. If you truly felt your phone was that great you wouldn't have a need to say it constantly unless you're trying to convince yourself.

I have both, cannot wait to get rid of the 8+. It is heavier and not as easy to handle. The constant feeling I am carrying it in my pocket is not acceptable to me, it reminds me it is there too much. I do not get that feeling with the X.

I do not think I have seen anywhere that anyone has mentioned resale. No way whatsoever I feel the 8+ will hold its value as well as the X considering how many folks want the latter. Food for thought.

The UI on the X may not be optimal for some people. To me I feel it is a breath of fresh air. No home button does not bother me whatsoever. I like the gesture control, it works well for me and is easy peasy.

The space grey 8+ is a looker but so is the silver X but is also a work of art as far as I am concerned as well. The camera bump and notch do not bother me either.

Again, I had the X for 4 days before deciding that it has to be returned. It's a sub-par experience for a $1,000 phone that we are beta testing for Apple.

Not only am I defending the the 8+, which is a great phone... but literally any Plus model, except for the 6 is better than the X. I returned my X to go back to my 6S Plus which does the same things any other iPhone running iOS 11 does. Pretty sure 99% of the Plus users would agree with me that when it comes to battery life, usable screen size and functionality, the Plus wins every time.

I've had every Plus iPhone and the only thing I can agree with you on is the usable screen size. That took an adjustment to get used to on the X.

As far as battery life, I'm getting similar usage and it's really a non-issue for me since I will be using a Mophie battery case when it's released as I've done with all previous Plus iPhones.

For functionality, there's absolutely no way you can say the Plus form-factor is more functional than the X. I don't miss the days of balancing my phone to use it.

Benchmarks are better on the X? You do realize that they use the EXACT same A11 chip and SAME amount of RAM? lol

You do realize that the same chip and RAM can yield different results in different systems? (Lol). Plenty of speed tests on YouTube showing the X a tad faster than 8 in many apps.

The 8plus is literally useless to me because of the size. It doesn’t fit in most women’s pockets. That was a deal breaker when the 6plus came out and is a dealbreaker now.

It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that the X is better in multiple ways to the 8 plus. The 8 plus uses Touch ID which has limitations in cold climates. Now I no longer have to peel off my gloves in New England winters to access my phone. That is one way that, in my mind, the X is BETTER than the plus. The X also has superior notification privacy, if that is important to you.

To be fair, the 8 plus has a better battery life, but the X lasts me all day, so any extra doesn’t really benefit me in anyway.

The X is superior for my usage because it frees up a hand at work because I can slip it in my pocket. Finally, I have access to most of the superior features that the plus series provides without having a giant brick to carry around.

Keep living in your fantasy land.. The iphone 8 has been dethroned and the Iphone X IS KING. It is Apple's flagship phone, so have fun enjoying an outdated OLD phone while the rest of us stay with the times.

Bet you switch from that 8 again LOL :rolleyes:
thats why we have the 8 + not the 8 :)

Wrong, flagship phone > outdated phablet. Least my phone fits in my pocket and you act like 1k is a lot of money, HA. thats a good one too. OUTDATED, OUTMATCHED, NOT superior. ;)
LMAO be honest, are you 12? I have been reading your posts in this thread and they make me embarrassed to be a fellow X owner. Do you honestly spend this much time of your life shouting in text that your damn phone is superior to another's? Wow lol.....

I don’t have a wireless charger yet but this is where I think it would be most useful for me as well. I think I might have to jump aboard that train this week. What do you use? I want one that looks somewhat okay sitting on my desk all the time.

I use the one from Mophie that is sold by Apple. Works as expected and looks nice in my opinion.
[doublepost=1510255119][/doublepost]
And even still to me the 6S is the same as the 7 and the 8/X... I consider the 7 to be a 6SS and the 8 to be a 6SSS.... As I said, camera means nothing to me. It's still a 12 MP camera that does a good enough job for a PHONE. If you're a professional photographer you're not using a phone.

The camera may mean nothing to you, but it does to me. It's one of the main features of my phone. I'm not a professional photographer but I want to take nice pictures while on vacation. Until recently I took a point and shoot camera with me because the 6S camera wouldn't cut it.

The 8 Plus and X cameras are perfect point and shoot replacements and I take hundreds of pictures with it. The X camera is even better with the zoom OIS - yes, I use it a lot.

See? Everyone has their own use cases. There's no right or wrong.

Thanks ManuChu.

I actually just read this after I went to Best Buy at lunch. I did however end up getting a Mophie charger (okay, two of them...one for work, one for my nightstand) but got the "Charge Force Wireless Charging Base" which is square rather than round but has magnets in it to keep the phone locked on. I am using it at work now and seems to be working well, even with my Spigen Slim Armor Case on. It is not a fast charger, but I don't really need that for work or overnight, I like that it is sort of "hidden" under the phone when in use and otherwise low profile :) Lots of the chargers have all sorts of lights, which I know my husband would not appreciate emanating from my night stand in the middle of the night! This just has the one little white light during charge.

You hit on the things that work for me, too.

The 8+ is a lovely phone (I was actually looking at the 8+ side by side the X when I was at Best Buy picking up a couple wireless charges today). First time I have seen them side by side since X's release. I actually think my husband (he is still using a 5s and a 5c, and trying to decide between the 8+ and the X) would probably really like the 8+ because of the screen size, and he has larger hands - and pockets - so it would work well for him. However, for my usage, lifestyle, small hands, small pockets, and cold weather, the X IS superior.

Also, I love the Face ID and the gestures. Those are both a total win for me. I do not want to go back to Touch ID or the home button on my phone. If I had never changed from Touch ID or the home button, I would not know different..but now I do know the wonderfulness of Face ID and the gestures and can't ignore how they work better for me.
