I got you, yea it's frustrating for both sides. Most X users have been genuinely enthusiastic about the changes and see it as a nice upgrade. I came from a Plus and the only thing I am missing is landscape (which I didn't use). For those that need that landscape, I totally get it. But it gets annoying even people call it a downgrade. Because it's not for a lot of people. For me, it has everything I loved about the Plus (great screen, more RAM, great camera) in a smaller package. Just what I was looking for. Definitely no downgrade for me and a lot of people. Just the same as the 8 or 8 Plus being a great option for a ton of people. It's a win win and I wish the animosity would stop. It's ruining the forums.

Just need all the developers to get their apps updated to work with the larger iPhone X screen.

Yea, I agree. More so than just extending into the ears. I actually have been pleasantly surprised by the number of apps that have been updated for me. Out of 48, only 4 haven't been.

I've had every Plus iPhone and the only thing I can agree with you on is the usable screen size. That took an adjustment to get used to on the X.

As far as battery life, I'm getting similar usage and it's really a non-issue for me since I will be using a Mophie battery case when it's released as I've done with all previous Plus iPhones.

For functionality, there's absolutely no way you can say the Plus form-factor is more functional than the X. I don't miss the days of balancing my phone to use it.

Force close an app on a Plus, force close an app on the X... which takes longer? Tell me your battery percentage on both. Which takes longer? The list goes on and on. The X is not intuitive or easy to navigate in comparison to a phone with 1 button that does it all.

You're talking about 14+ hours off the charger... I'm talking about 14+ hours of measured battery usage in the stats page. On an X that is not possible unless you are ONLY using it for music playback. If you don't believe me try it for yourself.

Also change the location settings for apps to only use your location when necessary. Apps like Facebook don't need your location at all to work.

I was in 3 carrier stores today and they told me they had a handful of people returning the X every day because 1) it was too small 2) they were frustrated with all the gestures and bad UI/UX.

No, but I will. The fact that people think an older (some would say 4 year old) design phone with a larger screen a smaller battery is better is purely down to personal opinion. The fact of the matter is, the X represents the direction Apple are going in, takes some risks, and represents change. Some people don't like change so they go and get an 8/8+ because the X wasn't out and it sounded like ages so got impatient, then when it comes out they feel the need to bash it because they spent money on a phone that looks absolutely no different in a case to a phone created 4 years ago. That doesn't make it classic, it makes it boring.

Hey, I'm an SE user so I've got no beef either way. My X arrives tomorrow and I'l enjoy it regardless because it will be a step up from my phone in every regard except hand-feel because the SE is pretty much perfect as something to hold in the hand as a phone and use as a phone. But, I do need a bigger screen. Absolutely no way would I want a phone as wide and tall as the plus though, even if it had twice the battery and all the features of the X and more. As far as large phones go the X has hit the top end of the sweet spot.

Be interesting to see all the plus users bashing the X right now all gush about how chuffed they are about their XL or whatever next year, where suddenly it's waaaaaay better than their beloved plus, the notch becomes a non-issue, and FaceID is oh-so-suddenly way more convenient than Touch ID...

Doesn't look like you lasted long. No, reviewers and owners who owned both are saying it. MANY. Sorry that X owners are being blinded because they spent all that money on a phone that really isn't better. I stayed away from the X because I know how Apple is on a first release. It's a Beta product. Glad I did.

My response:

1. Bigger footprint isn’t a plus for me - no pun intended.
2. X battery is on par if not longer lasting than the 8+.
3. X benchmarks are improved over the 8+.
4. Face ID v Touch ID is a user preference at this point. However having used Face ID for almost a week now it’s def. my preferred ID.
5. You win hands down on X repair cost. But it wasn’t a detractor for me, I just bought a more durable case than I typically would.
6. No Home button - haven’t missed it. Gestures are great. Apple could improve the one for reachability though. That one is a bit awkward with such little space and so far down the screen.

You also neglect to note X has a nicer screen and better camera - both factually true, not just opinion. X isn’t for everyone, some prefer the 8+, and that is why Apple released it alongside the X, but some of your rationale is off.

The X is actually getting better battery life for me than my 7 Plus, and there are youtube battery tests where the X bests the 8 Plus. I can only speak for myself, but the OLED screen, 120hz input, gesture based UI, Face ID, and removal of chins/modern design make it a better phone. I've never enjoyed using an iPhone more than I have with the X. People can have different opinions, that's really okay. Probably best just to move on at this point.

They accept returns not to sell X's. There is a difference. Again, you can call them. They are the only store locally to me that is corporate within 100 miles.

Most cases 2 hours more. See the other test. Apple also says 1 hour more for video playback. So anyone who says the X has more is wrong is all I can say.

Updated X and 8+ to 11.1.1 or whatever came out today. Put them side by side and downloaded same time both. 8+ finished 25 seconds quicker than X. Both were next to fios modem nothing else connected except those 2.
Was interesting to me.
Taking back X tonight can’t justify spending 1100 bucks when there doesn’t seem a big difference between them two. But I will get a cinnamon roll at the mall with my refunded money tonight
