Eh I think apple calibration with OLED Is a slam dunk assuming you win panel lottery

DisplayMate Just today claimed it’s the best mobile display. Period.

Tint shift is virtually the only bad thing coming from an older display, size preference tossed aside. In every other way OLED is superior to my eyes. Even brightness appears relatively on par outside and indoors, outdoor legibility being a big worry of mine before it released
Did they? I hadn't read that yet (didn't look and it didn't pop up in any news feeds, amazingly). I know the Note has held that badge for a bit.

I personally think it's gorgeous. But I am also not a person that nitpicks screens that much. Some people were saying it should be less sharp than the 8+. You could kill me and I wouldn't be able to see a drop in sharpness. I just couldn't.

Why do you even care?
I’m so sick of seeing posts like this. The X is a completely diffenent and newer device like what the hell are people talking about?? Better camera. Truer colors. Bigger display. Face ID. Better battery life. Design is cleaner. Like what are people talking about???

DisplayMate always makes for a fun read with new apple toys imo

I’m a screen stickler tho

8+ is not superior to the X in my opinion. It looks completely outdated (which it is) and features technology that is not going to be present moving forward.. If you like your 8+ good for you but it is not technically superior to the X.

8+ vs. X is just a matter of personal preferences. Not sure why people are making such a big deal about the comparison. They're both outstanding phones with comparable functionality.

To be honest, speaking as someone who loves my X, I think it's in part because some people want a combination of the two. They want a slightly bigger X that also has Touch ID.

It has the same technology as the X except for animojis....

Looks outdated.... true, but classic. I bet if you buy X and an 8 or 8+ leave then in the box, the “outdated” one would fetch more money in 10 years.

weren't you the person whining in another thread about how awesome the X is vs your 8. Now you've come back around the other way huh. You're worse than my first gf.

I actually completely agree with the OP after being a + hater for years. I got an X and an 8 Plus an have been doing a bake-off over the past 3 days to see which one I want to return. The X is going back 100%. Its just way too many compromises with the X, most having to do with the OLED screen. Blue shift, burn in, less life, more fragile (stops working in a drop test), super yellow for many people, and the list goes on. The X is about the same weight as the + and the black + actually looks sleeker than past + models and feels super premium with it's glass back. I am liking the 8+ way more than the X.

I think Apple compromised with the X the beat the deadline of the ten year anniversary. They went with a tech they have continuously bashed in the past, and we all assumed they did something different but they didnt. There's a reason the tech was bashed and the same shortcomings exist today. I'll wait for next year. Hopefully they will do an edge to edge LCD.

Same here had X delivered to house on Friday and returned Sunday for 8 plus. To ME 8 plus is perfect I love it.

Having both the 8+ and the X I have noticed that things are a smoother on the 8+. The X needs a good update. There is some small lag here and there that isn’t present on the 8+. Both are great phones and you can’t go wrong picking up ether.

I’m thinking it’s most likely subjective and there’s really nothing else to say about it.
