Having both the 8+ and the X I have noticed that things are a smoother on the 8+. The X needs a good update. There is some small lag here and there that isn’t present on the 8+. Both are great phones and you can’t go wrong picking up ether.
I have both as well, but I have found the exact opposite. The 8 Plus is jittery, especially when scrolling. The X is buttery smooth.

What’s up then??
The iPhone X does not have a bigger screen. You are being duped by Apple's use of a diagonal measurement on an atypical screen format.

The secondary camera is marginally better because of stabilization. There isn't much of a difference between the two phones. Maybe you were thinking of the regular 8?

I had the 7 plus .. X and now 8 plus. Everything is great on the X except the size. I couldn’t get used to the narrower display. When Apple releases the X plus next year I will be all over it. Until then I’ll enjou my 8 plus

In terms of screen area, it's basically a 1% difference or a wash if you remove the status bar area from the Plus. Hardware wise, pretty similar, but the addition of Face ID, removal of the home button/gesture based UI, OLED screen, and updated design are the big changes.

not reading anything in this thread.... WRONG. the X is on a different level. sick of seeing people saying " the x isnt good... my 8 is better. " cool.. awesome.... return it and stop complaining!!!

You mean how every manufacturer measures diagonally? Not just Apple.

The display isn’t as wide, maybe 1/4” les than the plus, but it’s much taller, not including the “ears”.

My X review...

Battery: X has a larger battery than a 8+ yet the battery doesn't last as long even though it supposedly has a more efficient screen. Multiple tests done on websites and user submitted battery stat screenshots show this. X= 7-8 hours use, any Plus model is 10-12+ hours.

Screen: The screen, while looking good at a perfect angle. Changes colors if you're slightly off axis. My old LCD Plus looks better when side by side just sitting on my desk looking at the same content.

Also about the screen, looking at it for 4 days gave me a 4 day headache. My eyes were hurting and I could not focus. Switched to my Plus, problem is gone.

Screen Size: The screen makes you think that it's bigger, but it's just a trick. There is so much wasted space that in some cases the usable screen area is actually smaller than the 4.7" iPhone 8. Coming from a Plus model, it's a huge downgrade in screen real estate and that's a big sacrifice to make for a phone that doesn't offer anything new or better in comparison to a 8 Plus.

Face ID: This is where Apple tried to solve their own problem, rather than thinking about the consumer. They couldn't fit a fingerprint reader anywhere so they added in Face ID. While it did work surprisingly well and I never had a failure. I felt as though I was trying to work for the phone rather than the phone working for me. I found myself adjusting angles, holding it just right while laying in bed, can't use it on your desk without picking it up... It was not a replacement for Touch ID, which is faster and far more convenient.

UI/UX: The software sucks. Plain and simple. Whoever designed this and thought it was acceptable is an idiot who doesn't know anything about UI or UX. I can go into detail if you like, but just know it's a step backwards and more of a process do to simple things like closing an app or shutting the phone down.

I can probably think of a few more but I think those are the main points that effect most people. The rest is just nitpicking because I expect a fluid and sensible 60 FPS experience and Apple hasn't delivered that since iOS 6... and it's not because of the hardware we have.

Great write up, I 100% agree. The X is a beta product with a lot of shortcomings. I'm loving the 8+, an with the glass back and the new black color it looks really great. The ones with the white bezels still look outdated, but the black one looks really nice. And the screen is 100% better than the X.

I don’t agree. I won’t get into all of the points but battery life for example.

The X gets better battery life than my 7 plus which already has great life.

Bigger phone in what respect?
I can confirm my 8+ gets better battery than my X over 3 days usage on campus. Everything is fully finished download/restoring. Makes sense with the size of the devices.

And the screen is 100% better than the X.

I have both. There is no discernable difference between the two. If there was a slight difference, it certainly isn't 100% better. That statement is just silly.

Again, this is just a silly statement. Why make yourself look so foolish? Just enjoy your choice of phone. Why try to bash the other product, or worse, continue to make ignorant statements like this?

For me it's 100% because all 3 X's I had were stained yellow. It bothers my eyes. Also the hack job apple did to reduce flicker was causing headaches. The LCD on the 8+ is cooler toned, beautiful, vibrant, and brilliant.

I have had the exact opposite experience with the X. You have a defective device. Return it for a properly functioning one.

3 defective ones?

Cool, moot point for me personally though. My X gets better battery than my 7 Plus, which already got enough battery to get me through the day.

Approx how much better battery life are you getting?

Sure. I can remember on every iPhone launch people returning several phones with the same issue. Happens every time. When you look at the amount of iPhones made and sold, that isn't very shocking.

They won't keep exchanging phones to get a "perfect" one. Someone posted this before they got to swap one before they said no more and then when he tried to return it they said he couldn't cause swapping it voided his return policy.

Gotta be at least 2-3 hours more on the 8+

If you really want the phone that can be remedied easily by going to another store, calling Apple and requesting to speak to a senior advisor, etc.
