(suggest that you other 999,999 iphone owners do something similar. Maybe it will make a difference.)

Dear Apple,

I'm am a VERY unhappy customer at this moment. I have purchased 3 new macs in the past few months, and influenced many others who have done the same (even driving them to the Apple store to do so).

I bought my iPhone on the first day, and have been very happy with the phone (missing features not withstanding).

Today, just 2 months later, you reward my loyalty as an early adopter and new true blue fan of Apple by dropping the price by 33%?

I expected that the price would eventually go down, or there would be an update, but this is absolutely a slap in the face of the 1M early adopters who helped make the iPhone a success.

There are LOTS of extremely disappointed people out there tonight. We all feel that you have demonstrated that customer loyalty is no longer important to you by this extreme and sudden price drop.

Obviously a refund is out of the question, but it would go a LONG way to help people feel better if you were to offer a $200 credit voucher at the local Apple store.

If you choose to ignore this issue and don't offer some kind of compensation to us, i will most certainly NEVER purchase a new Apple product when it hits the shelves until a good amount of time has gone by.

I will also warn ALL the people I know to do the same. I was a walking marketing tool for you until now. The envy of those who were drooling over my new phone has turned to scoffing and laughter and I feel like a fool for giving you such blind trust.

I think this will hurt you more than you know. I'm no longer a fan of Apple Inc., even if you do make the best products on the market.

Very, very sad day for 1M loyal Apple customers.

Sincerely,
....

Steve Jobs should rot in hell for this.

some of you people really need to get a grip on reality.

$200 lighter and not pleased

Okay, so I was in line on iDay. Ticket #46 guaranteed me an 8Gb model. $599 + tax later I'm a happy, happy iPhone owner. Bragging rights firmly installed.
Then nothing. No major update. No decent application addition or new functionality. Not even enough bug fixes to cure the Safari continuous crash problems I have. But I kept it to myself, and kept showing it off as if it were the best thing ever. Talking up Apple in the process.
Then the square kick in the nads today. Youch.
Apple: fix the phone. Add stuff to it to make it at least some value (other than fluffy touch stuff) versus a new Blackberry. And open the damn device up so others can do what you so clearly don't want to.
I bought an iPhone when my company forces the Blackberry. I endured no end of IT abuse to even let me join the work wifi network. It was worth it, I was convinced.
The honeymoon's over Apple. Welcome back my work-tool Blackberry (the phone for grown ups).
Apple - you've made a lot of people feel pretty dumb today. Me included.

I never thought I'd see the day when I hated Apple.

Apple just gave all of its biggest fans the biggest kick in the butt EVER. I waited and waited and let my Verizon plan lapse for over a year and stuck with a chinsy phone that couldn't hold a charge so I could jump on the iPhone when it FINALLY arrived. And Apple went and charged me a $200 premium for my loyalty to the brand.

I will never again be an early adopter. I will wait for OSX 10.6 before I but 10.5.9 off of Craig's list for $25.

Thanks Apple, you made a true believer a doubting Thomas.

For a company named after a group they adored, A company that was founded out of the hippy mindset, or as John Lennon put it 'so people won't have to go into offices on thier knees begging, probably your office' The original Apple, Apple Records (which lost the court battle last year and now has its logo licensed back to them by Apple) would have never stooped this low. All you need is cash. :(

Today is the first day that I have not loved apple, and they are going to lose a lot of big time customers if something is not done about this by tomorrow morning

I Feel Absolutely Disgusted and Cheated By The $200 Price Drop

Shame on you Apple. How could you do this to us early adopters?

They couldn't wait another 6 months to a year? This is uncalled for. $200 price drop in 2 months?!?!

I don't see why so many iPhone owners are upset at the price drop and I do not see Apple giving $200 back especially if almost 1 million phones have been sold, but who knows maybe they'll do something special.

I don't think with Aperature, there were so many early adopters so they credited back the money, here there's a bunch of people in contracts and no real reason for people to complain.

I think some of the problem is the thinking that Apple is part of the family, it's a corporation, ya know out to make money? If I purchased an 8GB iPhone on day one, sure I would've wish I'd waited but I wouldn't be demanding that Apple give me money back. Are the people complaining people that never purchased anything to see for a cheaper price in a few months?

My contract is up in December and the iPhone looks mighty tempting now, and I know there's a bunch of other people thinking the same thing, good job Apple.

why is that people who keep saying how we are whining and we should get over it keep on posting? if you don't care or are annoyed then don't open the damn post lol and for sure don't comment.

It was worth $599 to you 2 months ago, otherwise you wouldn't have paid $599 for it.

I don't see what the problem is.

Video Out to TV....

in better news your iPhone and other iPods can do video out now to your tvs. Somebody just posted this in another thread but for those who are living in this thread check it out.

Why didn't this come in the box to begin with. I ahve to say I trusted Apple and am honestly diapointed. They're supposed to "think different". To launch a product of that magnitude and hype and than slam it to the buyers is lame.

Beyond that lets recap what came out today.

A $200 fan boi tax
New ways to pay for songs
An additioanl charge to take a song "I already bought" and make it into a ring tone
A clever way to sell me songs while i sip coffee

Its all revanue generating BS. As a stock holder Im pleased but as a human being and customer I think there getting a little too big for their briches. I glad NBC and universal are sticking to their guns.

Whatever. If you purchased the iPhone for $600, you'd feel kinda pissed off. Even more if you just bought it 15 days ago (I bought mines 20 days ago). Don't deny it, and there's no reason to come in here to bash others who are pissed off.

You didn't, so you're not. And you're an *******. Bravo Apple?

Same to you bud.

I didn't because I never buy new technology just like I never buy new cars because I am not willing to pay the premium built in to the price of some new gadget. Does someone who buys a brand new car get pissed off the moment they drive it off the lot because the resale value drops hundreds if not thousand of dollars after the first two months they had it? Do I get any less enjoyment out of a two year old car because someone else drove it the first 20,000 miles ? Not at all, because I understand I wouldn't be happy to pay that premium.

What a bunch of nonsense. Yes, there is every reason to bash a bunch of immature whiners who apparently have no understanding of the tech business. From day one it's clear that the price would drop sometime in the future. You are a bunch of spoiled children with a ridiculous sense of entitlement. All this talk of lawsuits and petitions. Hardly sounds like "the most loyal customers" to me. This is one of the silliest threads ever. Apple had no sense of how the market would really play out. They were venturing into a new arena outside their core business. Many "experts" claimed they would flop. As others have pointed out, imagine what the lines and the activation experience would have been like if Apple had been totally overwhelmed because of a price margin set too low. Anyone remember several years ago when the orders were terribly backlogged on ipods and people were bitching about Apple not having enough of production capacity to keep up with the demand at the price it was set.

I suppose I should be feel pissed off that I paid $1300 for an Apple IIc in the early 80's. or $2300 for ZEOS notebook in the early 90's with a palty 20 MB hard drive, 1 MB of RAM and 9 inch monochrome screen.
or that my 160 GB Hard drive has dropped 50% in price since I bought it 4 months ago even after waiting till for a better price point.

Apple spent 2.5 years developing the technology for this phone and many wanted it ASAP. If you are not willing to wait, no matter when it happens, then you should be at peace paying a premium price. If you don't like paying the premium then don't buy first generation technology in the first 6 months after it comes out when no price adjustments have occurred.

Don't get pissed of at a tech company for lowering prices, you just look foolish.

Shame on you Apple. How could you do this to us early adopters?

They couldn't wait another 6 months to a year? This is uncalled for. $200 price drop in 2 months?!?!

Ahhhh-hahahahaha. I feel completely vindicated. I've been saying on the board for six weeks now that Apple is going to have to slash prices aggressively and everyone kept saying "no, they'll just run more advertising" as if there were a person left on the planet who didn't know everything about the iPhone.

Early adopters are chumps. Next time buy lottery tickets, at least then you'd have a micro chance of getting something for your money.

Success

I bought by 8GB iPhone 3 weeks ago at the CambridgeSide Apple Store. Went back today and they gave me a refund to my credit card! I called the SouthShore store earlier today and they said they would also be willing to give me the credit even though my purchase was out of the official 2 week return window. Good luck!!

I'm fine with the price drop and the fact that I "overpaid". I would have done the same if I'd know.
In fact, I suspected as much and many friends said "just wait a couple months...blah, blah".

I can't believe all the anger and outrage.
