It's not 9.3.2.

I have a 9.7 Pro and it had some soft reboots since day one, always on Safari use. Some of them are very quick, others are full reboots. I have not installed 9.3.2 yet.

Sorry to hear your device was bricked BUT there is a lesson here ... never, ever do an OS update when you are travelling.

There are many lessons here...

- Apple is steadily becoming a ghost of its former glory, expectations need to be realigned.
- Don't pay premium prices for products lacking quality.
- No longer trust the old adige of It Just Works
- Be afraid, be very afraid.

Now would be a good time for Apple to introduce the capability of downgrading to a (previously supported) version of iOS.
Agreed that would be a bonus. I have 9.3.1 9.7pro with the issue. Thought it was just me.

While I do think there's room for improvement in the quality control department, Apple had its share of screw ups when Steve was around. Perhaps one thing that's changed over the years is the way the social media aspect of the Internet can now magnifiy each and every issue, and that there's always a crowd ready to blow up any potential scandal sky high.

That said, I'd be pretty annoyed if a software update bricked my brand new iPad, so I'm not trying to downplay any issues people are experiencing. I rolled the dice and updated mine with no problems.

That's a common argument. "Things were just as bad back then but we only know more about them now which gives the appearance that things are worse".

Apple themselves are admitting that there's an issue. This is not a matter of the internet and social media blowing the situation out of proportion. If Apple is acknowledging the issue, then it is a safe bet that it is actually WORSE than people are reporting. Apple hardly ever takes lead on issues... generally things have to get to a point of a threat of a class-action lawsuit before they will acknowledge an issues exists.

For someone not trying to downplay the issue, you're doing a pretty good job of it. ;)

I edited my post my in an attempt to word my social media point a little better.

That each issue gets reported on by sites like is certainly more of a good thing for us consumers than it is bad, but many of the negative reactions in these threads (like this one, where many don't even own an iPad Pro) tend to be over-the-top. If I'm trying to downplay anything it's the rose-colored glasses + Apple is doomed mentality.

Apple sure has gone downhill fast.

My iPad pro is now useless. Thanks Tim Cook for putting out a garbage update.

IT JUST DOESN'T WORK.

Mine is rock solid. Wonder if you use special apps?

Well earlier on in this thread I'm sure I said that I wasn't having issues...

But this time, all I had done was pop back to the home screen from PDF Expert, and boom. Springboard reloaded. I'm not using anything particularly out of the ordinary in general, all from the App Store, all legit; I mainly use:

Notability
Procreate
Spotify
PDF Expert
Safari
Mail
Message

About the only apps I am changing between usually.

I know it's not related to the bricking issue but why would you leave the ipad on overnight? With phones I can see the point of leaving them on standby but why do the same with a tablet. I guess some people may use the alarm feature to wake them in the morning but you can buy a digital alarm clock for less than £10.

Are you telling me you power off your iPad over night? Since owning my iPad (from my iPad 1, iPad3, Mini 2 and Pro) i have never switched it off, I really don't see the point.

Now would be a good time for Apple to introduce the capability of downgrading to a (previously supported) version of iOS.

Would be a valid point, particularly more and more issues are found these days. Would give us even more of a reason to. Although they would be only sign for short period, it's not long enough.

They should keep this at least for 30 days or so form date of install (per install).. That way if a user installs an iOS version they will always have 30 days to downgrade if they want. Or something along those lines.

Just a general thought: you'd think by now, a time at which we have supercomputers that could simulate inputs to a device and how the device processes information, that computer scientists and electronic engineers would have developed an omnibus way of tracking down bugs by simulation and eliminating them before production. I find it astonishing that the army of people working at Apple, Google, Microsoft and others still produce products with bugs in them. I do not know, but I wonder how much of the R&D budget of these companies is directed toward finding methods of bug-proofing.

What are special apps? Arent all apps in app store ones that were all equally scrutinized by apple and only then released to the public to receive hefty loyalty fees from them?

Well I meant kind of cpu heavy apps that render a lot like iMovie or quix or photoshop or anything special and not just stock apps that should be kind of rock solid.

So I have a 9.7 iPad Pro with 256GB of storage. I have been following this thread and staring at the red number 1 next to Software Update, swearing that I would wait for Apple to step in and address this obvious problem. Without any real reason for doing so, I decided to click the upgrade button and see what happened. I wasn't looking forward to seeing my new device brick on me, and dreading even more the endless syncing that I would have to endure even if the brick was unbricked. But nothing happened. The upgrade went through without a hitch. I don't even know what the 9.3.2 (13F69) upgrade does, but it didn't result in a brick in my case. So this is just FYI and wondering whether the storage amount is a factor.

From what I heard, the update was changed today so most users should be safe with downloading today's version of the update...
