That's pretty early for planned obsolescence...

Exactly, because planned obsolesce happens even though there isn't even a newer model of the 9.7 iPad Pro... :p

I don't have an iPad Pro, but this has happened twice to me with my Air 2 in the last two weeks. Both times I picked up my iPad, typed in the passcode, nothing happens for a few seconds, then it goes blank and a few seconds later comes up to the Apple Screen. Oddly, though, it 'boots' up much more quickly than when turning it on after shutting it down.

I know it's not related to the bricking issue but why would you leave the ipad on overnight?

I am not sure how the people do it, but I leave most of my Apple devices on. My main Mac, my wife's MBA, all the iPhones my family uses, 2 iPads, ATVs.

I didn't think too many people turn these devices off. Not that I have an issue with people turning off the devices, but if there isn't anything going on in the background, the battery will last a while on most devices.

For example, 1st gen iPad, it is 6 years old. My daughter uses it sometimes, and we only need to charge it every couple weeks. We never turn it off.

Really. I'm going to have to find an Apple site where there are less apple haters than apple enthusiasts, who all appear to have abandoned macrumors. Technology, whether Apple or otherwise, is AMAZING but rarely even close to perfect. It seems almost everyone here forgets that in the grander scale of things, computer technology is still in its infancy. One or two people report an issue and 300 negative comments will follow like clockwork.

End of rant. We will now return you to your regularly scheduled whinefest.

People's perception of a company changes overtime reflecting how they do their business. I would say putting 5400rpm hhd in a premiumly priced pc; decreasing ssd by a third of previous generation size in fusion drive (the first time actually this tech company is taking reverse steps) and only mentioning in a fine print; putting obsolete 16gb on iOS devices to make "staring as low as blah blah" advertisements; skipping practical 32gb that middle class needs to sell 64gb in oder to generate more income all shows how they are nickle and diming everyone. I dont know who would find these attractive. I for one would love to praise Apple but realistically I find their strategy rather unsavory for such an established company.

Hey set your iPad Pro on 70% brightness and see how that fairs for you. I noticed that this is the optimal brightness setting for optimal battery life. You should be able to get around 10 hours without any issues...

It drains in stand by. If I put it in airplane mode, it is not as bad.

End of rant.

I have to disagree. I've been using Apple products in one form or another since the early 90s and currently own and use an iMac, iPhone 6, and a 9.7" iPad Pro. While I continue to use their products, because I am deeply invested in the ecosystem, I will tell you that my ecosystem experience has been waning for the past 5 or so years and as a result in brings about some sharp criticism about Apple and the way they operate. In fact, sometimes they PMO to the point where, if there was an iBooks App for Android, I would be looking at other devices.

my first thought is "only 9.7 inch" ? This is all ok on the 12-inch version..

Software or hardware issue ... if its software, why wouldn't it affect the 12-inch as well ?

Any bright people on your mind?

Yeah, I would like to see Wozniak involved again, not as CEO but as a member that can influence products and software, definetly would be great to have him around as an Apple employee. To recruit a new CEO I think somebody that doesn't believe that watch bands requires secrecy or at least it's own event. This sounds crazy but I wonder how Panos Panay would do in Apple.

Every release since iOS 6 has been shaky right off the hop - pretty disappointing really.

yep i agree. I have had every iphone up to the 6 and things look bleak. I may have gotten a lemon phone though. Here are my issues:

GPS often does not work (stuck on "locating") with multiple apps
constant wifi drops
phone shuts down and is dead with battery percentage ranging from 50 to 20%
facetime camera surround has moved (again) blocking the camera
lightning connector seems "loose" (cords often just fall out or dont seat properly; yes I have checked for and removed lint)
touch ID works 10% of the time

many of these are hardware issues but there are a slew of software problems as well
