As it's the same size as the iPad Air 2 I'll probably continue using the cases and smart cover I have for it as they should work.
It won't work. Unless you want to cover up the 4 speakers.
Also, the cases are too expensive but you'll happily buy the 256GB model? o_O

It's all working out very expensive.

I would have bought a 64gb but that's not an option so I'm looking at buying the 128gb WiFi at £619 + the keyboard £129 = £748 - WOW that is expensive, not sure the Mrs would be pleased with that outlay.

Or I stick with my iPad Air 2 with Logitech keyboard.

Pre Orders will start at 7:00 AM, not 8:00 AM.
Clocks have changed in USA, but not yet in UK.
Pre Orders start at midnight PDT, 7 hours difference.

Just like the media briefing was at 5PM here rather then the normal 6PM. I wondered why at first but then realised the time difference between the US West coast and here is only 7 hours at the moment.

I just read the report on the main page of this site. It looks like because of the Smart Connector the magnets are aligned differently so the iPad Air/Air 2 Smart Covers won't work after all. I may have to resort to getting the new iPad Pro specific smart cover. If my Logitech Folio case works just fine I may just use that temporarily until I get an iPad Pro specific case/cover solution. The Logitech case will probably cover two of the speakers but I may make do with it in the short term. It usually takes several weeks or months for decent compatible cases and covers to appear from third party sources.

64gb would have been perfect for me. Considering I use about 30gb. But seeing how Apple have played it. I'll have to get a 128gb. It is what it is.

Very jealous of the prices the Americans will be paying!

Have changed my mind. With the discovery it only comes with 2GB RAM, I'll be purchasing an iPad Air 2. Coming from an iPad 3, I'm sure I'll appreciate it.

How many of you will still buy it if the 2gb ram rumours are true?

Not me. I'm using an iPad 3 at the moment, and would ideally like to purchase a device that would last me 3 years. I just don't think the Pro with 2GB ram will last that long as apples software becomes more and more bloated.

I'm pretty annoyed if the 2GB ram rumour is true. How can they boast about how how powerful the 9.7 Pro is. Seriously reconsidering my pre order now. I was all set and just sold my iPad 3. Will still be a big improvement but was hoping it would be powerful enough to last me as long as my last iPad did

How many still want the Pro 9.7 now that the 2gb RAM is confirmed?

The number will drop I think. /wink/

I'm reconsidering it now. For me, it's £499. Or I can pick up an iPad Air 2 for around £200 less, which is a big difference, and don't know If I could justify the additional cost. If it was priced at £399 then I would have just bought it, but £500 is a bit much considering.

Has the pre-order time been confirmed as 8am on Thursday? (Just wondering about a midnight pre-order happening).

The Air 2 runs flawlessly on iOS 9. With the insane price drop it just got, it's an absolute steal. Couldn't believe it's selling for the same price as the Mini 4!

It is the more intelligent option at the moment. The Air 2 has three cores while the Pro 9.7 has only two. Geekbench performance scores aren't very far apart. Unless you need the better FaceTime camera (lol) get the Air 2.

Where is it £200 less? If that's for the 16gb then it's not a proper comparison.32gb pro is 499. 64gb air 2 is 429 so not that much difference in price.

I'm wondering the same... if I can find for that price screw the Pro I'll buy the Air 2, but if it's just 70 pounds I'll consider it since I don't need the 64gb

I did say around £200 less and that camparison is for my circumstances, as in, 16gb is adequate for me. I've seen so many iPad Air 2's for sale, second hand and new in the region of £250-£300.

I am definitely Team Pro, Apple pencil beckons :). That said 'am not entirely sold on the new storage strategy:(I have a 64GB Air 2 ; 32GB is not my cup of tea whilst 128GB is totally OTT. But it is what it is, my thinking cap is back on

Completely agree... but it's to get you to spend £620 now, whereas before most people would spend £479 for the 64gb Air 2.

It is a big difference if you know you will need more than 32gb!! Then you are comparing £429 to £620!

I'm on the fence now. It only having 2GB of RAM makes a mockery of the 'Pro' name.

So my main choice now revolves around other factors. I current have a 32GB iPad 3, and I think I can survive going forward with that storage size, so in that respect the £60 difference isn't too bad. The single core performance of the Pro is also significantly improved, performing ~50% better on Geekbench compared to the Air 2, additionally multi-core performance is higher although not so important given no apps truly take advantage

However I can't help but be concerned about getting shafted by Apple with future iOS updates. I got burned badly by being a Day 1 iPad 3 buyer, as since iOS 7 it's been pretty much inoperable, haven't used it consistently for probably 6-8 months now because it's so painful to use. Some of that is down to the processor being underpowered, which obviously isn't an issue with the Pro. My concern comes in whether the 2GB of RAM will be adequate in years to come.

Does anyone have a iPad Air 1, if so, how does iOS 9 perform on that? The air 1 only has 1GB RAM, so should be a good indicator of what could be the Pro's near future.

I'll think about it over the next day and decide when I wake up on Thursday

Pay more for extra storage I don't needo_O !!!

I'm mildly surprised that you say your iPad 3 is slow on iOS 7...my iPad 2 runs just fine on the same.

I'm intending on getting Space grey, wifi, 128gb (my iPad mini 2 is 128 and I've never wanted bigger) an Apple pencil and possibly a smart cover and back cover thing too.

I'm expecting it to be quite the performance jump over my iPad mini 2.

Why would you be surprised? The iPad 3 is pretty infamous for it's poor performance post iOS 6 and being woefully underpowered.

Think about it, it has a screen 4x the resolution of the iPad 2, but essentially the same processor. The iPad 3 is a device that should never have been shipped.

Coming from a iPad 2 that I sold years ago, I'm going to go with the 128gb, gold one.

I'd love store pick up as I don't trust any of the couriers around here, but I don't think it will be an option.

Regarding accessories, I'd love a nice case, I don't really fancy any of the ones I saw so far.

Is it worth getting the pencil?
I don't draw or do graphics, etc.
I usually use photoshop on my laptop, but that's not gonna be an option on the iPad.
Do people use them to type?
Sorry for the silly questions, but someone has to ask them, right?!

I have one and basically multitasking is un-existing. Every time I switch apps the previous one gets removed so I can never multi-task.

I was really up to buying the iPad Pro 9.7 but now I'm not so sure. Course, performance will be better, but I made the mistake of upgrading to the iPad Air 1 maintaining the same RAM and here I am with crappy performance.
