I'd say they should stick to the $599 price level of the current 9.7" iPad Pro. Two consecutive $100 price increases in following years would be too much.Nice - what would they priced this at? $ 699 for 32GB?

Amen to that!If it was just as easy as you say... you want the best camera with lightning? Get the 9,7". You want the largest display and the good camera? Not possible. But you want the largest display and USB3 transfer speed for SD card? Get the 12,9". You want USB3 transfer speed and the 9,7" screen? Not possible. You want the wider color garmut display and 9,7"? Possible. But you want the 9,7" and 4GB RAM? Not possible.
The screen sizes are not the problem, the problem are the confusing features of each device which give you disadvantages however you decide:
-take the Mini and get an outdated device
-same for the Air2
-take the 9,7" and miss the 4GB RAM and the USB3 transfer speed of the lightning port
-take the 12,9" and miss the wider color garmut screen and the better camera
I think there's quite a point to see confusion in the lineup.
"A 9.7-inch iPad Pro with a 10.5-inch piece of paper over it"
I'm envisioning a MacBook Pro situation, where depending on the test it could last 15 hours or only like 5.That's optimistic of you, but powering high definition displays takes a lot of energy. I don't know how much more they can optimize these processors to compensate, especially since Apple likes to keep making things thinner and thereby make the battery even smaller.
This makes me angry beyond belief
I just bought a 9.7" pro last year
now I'm going to want this newer larger model as well
I'm genuinely curious, what do you use an iPad Pro for? This makes me angry beyond belief

Newsflash: There's always a new and better model coming within a year.
That's true, however the MacBook upgrade was quite significant in terms of performance and this year will be even more significant. It with finally be up to a similar standard to the MacBook Air, including graphical performance, and should get a price cut.
The MacBook Air wasn't upgraded because they had plans for the base MBP to replace it.
The iMac couldn't be upgraded until a few days ago, and that may still be true depending on the GPU they've chosen.
The Mac Pro is a mess. They have prototypes, plans, and probably different designs. They are waiting on certain components but they could have released an upgrade by now.
There is no excuse for the Mac mini. It still sells and that good enough for Tim Cook. Not for everyone else though. Although, seeing as it's upgrade cycle is every 2 years I guess it's not terribly off track.
One difference between iPads and MacBooks is that very few people use applications on the iPad that peg the CPU for significant amounts of time. Thus, the number of people that get battery life significantly shorter than the advertised 10 hours is pretty small.I'm envisioning a MacBook Pro situation, where depending on the test it could last 15 hours or only like 5.
Just going by the past iPad releases, I'm pretty sure every single one has been rated at 10 hours. I don't think Apple would dare shorten that now. They'll just go as thin as they can to still keep the same 10 hours.
I think that was an anomaly caused by the larger pro being released before the smaller pro and will likely be rectified when the new lineup is announced in the spring. The differentiation will just be between the regular and pro lines, with both sizes in the pro line having the same features (other than screen size of course...)Yup, I prefer the old Good-Better-Best Apple days, when you bought the best you paid top dollars but it was the best you could get.
Now you pay Top Dollars for the iPad Pro 12.9 yet it does not have all the best Hardware/Features.
No, it's a separate beast, 12.9 will be upgraded to at least the old 9.7, or the same as the 10.5be the perfect in between size for me
guessing no upgraded 12.9 then just the 10.5
Unless they decide to upgrade that one later on in the yearNo, it's a separate beast, 12.9 will be upgraded to at least the old 9.7, or the same as the 10.5
With ya BroThis is amazing, but I'm looking forward to see what's new in the 12.9" version. I want the big one!
What is the problem with the icon grid ? It is a simple and efficient launcher. When you are using an iPad, you are supposed to spend time into applications, not with the launcher on screen. If it's still running iOS, it's still a large iPhone to me. Those spaced out icon grid cracks me up.
ME!! I want an iPad Pro, that is smaller than the 12.9" one, but that also is it's technological twin, not a little brother.who is asking for this ?
Pretty sure he/she partially just meant the spacing between icons is way too large on the iPads with IOS - especially the larger iPad Pro. There may be other complaints about IOS suggested in his/her posting, but who cares - get Android or whatever works for you. I agree, let me have more icons on the iPad launcher, but it's a minor nuisance. What is the problem with the icon grid ? It is a simple and efficient launcher.
