New Tred in Apple Products

I think Apple is testing the idea of further distinguishing between its entry level and higher storage models.

Before, you had no choice but to pay $100 extra for more storage. But now, with the iCloud push and other third party storage solutions, I think Apple will start shaving off actual features from the 16 GB models, not just storage, to push people towards more expensive 32 and 64 GB models (their margins are much higher on those). I could be mistaken though.

Really pretty except for the rubber wifi thing. Anyway, is anyone else seeing this as part of the end of the iPod nano? This is jumping down on it, and the iWatch will jump up on it.

That's what clouds are for.

Which has far less meaning to a iPod which is Wi-Fi and not Cell based. To use the cloud you need to be mindful of your Wi-Fi access.

Personally no camera = no sale. Also 16 GB is too small if your into audio books and like to keep most of them on hand instead of constantly re-syncing with a computer.

barkmonster has a point, for 70 bucks the functionality is (in Apple's world) is far better. You don't understand the lack of an outward facing camera until you don't have one.

That's not where the camera goes. It's a plastic piece to let the Wifi radios work.

The bigger capacity ones have the exact same piece of plastic in them.

Then why doesn't the iPod touch with the camera have one of these?

EDIT: Never mind, it does!

Quite possibly a 'test' product to gage market reaction before releasing the low-cost iPhone in a similar formfactor/color scheme, in addition to the before mentioned possible iOS7 compatibility issues. And judging by most of the above posts, a definite success!

I know, APPLE isn't known for doing market research to find out what people like, but as they have become the company they are now, they must have at least some worries about releasing products that turn out to be less than popular. Just good business sense.

If Apple makes a cheaper version of iPhone and makes it look like this (curved back without glass) I would buy it instantly.

Thin, non cluncky, perfect for a student like me. (considering a switch from android)

I doubt it'll be this thin unless they sacrifice a lot of battery life or new battery tech develops. It could happen unexpectedly.

Can anyone tell me what music was used in the video? It's extremely pretty piano music. :D

Perfect example of classic, beautiful Apple simplicity!

I would rather say minimalistic like in architecture instead of simplistic as it can be interpreted the wrong way. if someONE is simple, it means he/she has a disability. although you say it is beautiful and classic..

I'd consider getting this for my car, since my car is a wi-fi hotspot. With the cloud, it'd be great for music?

Sexy design! I'd like the iPhone to go in this direction.

One thing I don't like about iPhone/iPod touch designs is the thick bezel! If Apple would come up with edge to edge on a design like that it would be awsome!! But the home button takes too much space...

Thats exactly what I was thinking as I watched the video.

I want Apple to keep making products that are simple and beautiful. I'm not a big fan of the two-tone iPhone 5 design and I hope they revert to something more simple for the next iPhone.

Also, they need to get rid of the current iPod nano and make a much nicer product.

I wonder if the lower-cost iPhone will also serve as a replacement for the iPod touch line, then this iPod touch would simply be marketed as an iPod.

add a mic and GSM with this hardware design = the new iphone 6. i'll be the first to wait in line.

I've said it before. One day I'll dump my iPhone then get one of these things and just velcro it to the backside of a crappy $19.99 Samsung no-contract cell phone. I'll then take the data plan savings and apply it to a beach house in Jamaica.

Last I checked, kids take LOTS of pictures and videos. This dumbed down version is a no go for that market, IMHO. I'm not sure who this is targeted at, but it sure ain't kids.
Kids do take a lot of Selfies though and the front side cam allows that.
Nice looking device. It really evokes the iPad Mini look.
