Yes, I have the bug and can't believe beta has a bug. It is such a minor bug don't really care.

Many users running iOS 14 beta are reporting that they are seeing a dialog box pop up repeatedly asking them to update from the latest iOS 14 beta.

Threads in our forums, Reddit, and Twitter are reporting the issue. The dialog has been appearing for a few days now, but as of tonight has started appearing more frequently, every time an iPhone is unlocked. There's been further discussion in our iOS 14.2 Beta 4 thread.

Previous betas have reportedly seen the same issue, according to postings in our forum.

This same bug was persistent last year with iOS 13. Such a pain in the ass! Every damn time you unlock the phone.

Likely because iOS 14.2 is coming imminently to support Apple One.

I can’t believe something as frustrating as this can still happen, two iOS betas in a row now.

Like I get it, it’s beta software, but an error like this has to have such a minor back-end check that it speaks volumes of Apples declining software quality control.

I’ve already jumped off the Mac bandwagon and got a Thinkpad, I just wish the iPhone have more of a legitimate competitor. Android is straight garbage, so I basically feel like a captive user.

Somewhat ironically, on a jailbroken iPhone installing NoBetaAlert would resolve this.

yup. agree that itʻs a bug, iʻm sure apple knows about it, you use beta software at your own risk knowing full well that bugs will be aplenty...and you whiners are all snowflakes for letting it get to you. itʻs an annoyance. so what? maybe next time apple wonʻt provide public betas anymore...

Actually, that’s what betas are for... to find and fix bugs before releasing software to the general public.

Actually, Beta is more specific than that. It's not to find bugs that affect a large percentage of users-- you are supposed to catch those in internal testing. Beta exists to catch bugs that occur in specific user configurations, because Apple can't replicate the thousands and thousands of combinations of preferences, applications, and environments that exist out in the real world. Bugs like this one may in fact have popped up in testing; but for a Beta, companies will release software with known bugs if their severity is below a defined thresold.

New iOS update tomorrow enables Apple One. This will stop this update issue.
They introduced it at the iOS14 event so I wouldn’t think it would work with older versions. This is Apple after all.
It’s unlikely there will be a new update tomorrow for Apple One. This was introduced during the iPad/Apple Watch event, so it has nothing to do with iOS 14. (iOS 14 event would have been WWDC back in June.) Also, iOS 14.1 was just released only 9 days ago.

Apple One works on all platforms where the services are available, including the web, smart TVs, and Android.

Apple "mistakenly" thinks people who install Betas understand the risks and are resilient enough to withstand a few bugs (sarcasm). Apple, and every company, has release criteria for Beta and for general releases; and the criteria for the two release classes are different. If they wait until they have fixed every known bug in a Beta, that would set back the Beta release for weeks; and all those people with the earlier Beta, with more serious bugs, would be screwed. So, in Beta, known bugs will get released into the wild, even fairly widespread ones, if the impact on user ability to function is low.

Maybe some of you will finally refrain from installing OPTIONAL and OPT-IN beta software.

What do you not get about beta software? There’s no expectation of anything working as expected, so stop expecting it.

Please, revert back to production once this issue passes and don’t get yourself involved if you can’t handle minor bugs.

And yeah it’s minor. Your phone still works, doesn’t it?

Something similar happens with tvOS.

On my ATV4K, I had auto updates off, and it constantly popped up asking to turn auto updates back on, update now, and update later. This happened about every 20 minutes, and even interrupted what you were watching or playing a game.

Are they going to fix this. This **** is annoying it popped up for me 10 times. I erased my phone but it didn't work. I reset my phone but it didn't work. I shouldn't have done the IOS 14. Now, I have to deal with **** until apple fixes it.
Perhaps you can do a DFU restore and go back to iOS 14.1 if you can’t wait for a fix? Be warned though...you won’t be able to restore your backups made from 14.2.

Am I the only one who removed the profile for public beta and still my software version is 14.2. Does any one know how to fix this? Help!!

I wish they didn’t. Their customer base (including entitled brats from MacRumors) clearly can’t handle this priority 1 bug. The annoyance is just too much to bear.

Go back to the days of developer only betas and prevent activation on devices not registered for beta use. This crap is getting ridiculous.

removing the profile does not automatically get you out of the beta version...if you want to downgrade to 14.1, youʻll have to erase and reset your phone... (the rolling eyes tells me it might be sarcastic...so...nvm haha)

ya ok,,, lets just try that 'UNIX' 1970 date issue again, since Apple fixed the bricking of phones.. Perhaps it will work for this now :p with this beta..

It IS a beta by the way, so i would say its a legit popup. The fact users havan't seen that before is not an issue.. You shouldn't be staying on betas in the first place if a stable release is out

This is exactly why wait 6 months before upgrading to the latest iOS versions. I also do it piecemeal across my iOS devices. Normally start with my non-essential iPhone 6s, iPad Pro and my iPhone X is last to upgrade, sometimes around the same time Apple announces the next version at WWDC. Yes, it’s that extreme, but I can risk these ‘mainstream’ betas these days even if Apple calls it GM.

holy ****, it's beta software. beta. beta is not production. beta will have bugs. i was having a hard time believing the lot of you complaining here are this dumb, but hey it looks like 2020 still has some surprises.
As others have stated, it’s occurring on iPhone 12’s that are stock and NOT running the beta.
