Connections- MBP "Brick"

mini-dvi maybe for the unknown?

I'd say from the left:
Magsafe-ethernet-USB-USB-Firewire 400 (6pin) -audio in-headphones

No video port on this side on the otherside i hope:

mini DVI - Firewire 3200 -USB - USB - expresscard 54

:)

this is why I want to learn Chinese, these kind of stuff always show up on Chinese forums. It is like they post it on the last page western apple fans will look for.

I've tried for a couple hours to manipulate the image to see if we could get a clearer picture of what the far LEFT port is, but to no avail. But that REALLY looks like a mini-DVI in between USB and audio. You can even see the little |O| picture next to it.

It's most likely a display port, but it's not the right size for mini-DVI. I see the symbol in the corner, too. But it's an odd place for a display port IMO.

I was wondering why whoever took this shot didn't take a pic of the whole thing. why just the side ports? I think apple is selectively leaking these photos to hype up the products. that is why they are being less strict about leaks.

If not apple, then the graininess of the photo resembles a pic from the iphone. probably someone that managed to sneak a shot and this was the best he/she got.

I highly doubt apple would leak their own photos. The bold is your best bet.

Apple organizes the ports from largest to smallest, not by type.

why not, this is a very cheap way to generate buzz about their new products coming out. Hell, when I saw this on my iphone I showed the woman sitting next to me (who I know) the photo. and told her that apple is coming out with a new macbook pro.

The ports are nearly identical to the current MBP. From left->right

MagSafe, Modem, USB, USB, ??? (maybe monitor out, but doubtful), Line In, Earphone

I wish they would ditch the modem but I can't see many road warriors being happy with that at this point.

edit: hmm, the leftmost port IS a little taller than a MagSafe port, not so sure about that one anymore but the one next to it is the correct aspect ratio for RJ-11

edit2: Has anyone else noticed how freaking thin this thing is. For scale, a USB Type A connector is 4 mm tall. That would make this part between 8-12 mm thick (0.3" - 0.5")

Because apple doesn't need to generate the buzz. It already exists.

lmao, yeah companies like apple don't care about advertising. Especially dirt cheap advertising brought about by word of mouth.

A blurry picture of a piece of the MBP case that says nothing except that it has the chicklet keys is not advertising. This image only applies to people that are already immersed into the product refresh who do not need to be advertised to.

Yeah and it gets us worked up and we feel a need to talk about it. Like I did with the lady on the bus. See the advertising is not about the fanboys its about getting them to generate buzz to people that don't use mac, but Im tired of debating this topic. you can post again if you like but I'm done

The visible ports are Ethernet, Firewire, USB, USB, Display, Line in, Line out.

There's also a bottom to the casing, which will add to the thickness.

I've noticed that the dimensions of the keyboard seem to be the exact dimensions of the chiclet keyboard. looks like they may be macbook air keys after all

That'd mean a little over 1/2-3/4" closed if you assume the lid to be as thick as the MBA's. Wow.

It's not large enough to be Mini or Micro DVI.

The port just to the left of the audio ports if most definitely Mini-DVI. Look at the label next to it (the same as the Mini-DVI on my Macbook, at least).

I can't / don't have the software to try to enhance the labels on the others. 2 usb's for sure, audio in, audio out, and Mini-DVI is all I can make out (not guessing on what the others are)

It isn't mini-DVI. Mini-DVI is taller than USB. That label is Apple's "display" label. The MacBook Air uses the same label for Micro-DVI.
